I’m currently working on building a custom social media platform with a forum-like structure—something loosely comparable to Reddit, but fundamentally different in vision and execution.

While Reddit could be seen as a close competitor, here are a few core ways my platform will stand apart:

One major difference is our monetization model. I plan to introduce a revenue-sharing system where active users get rewarded. Whether your post is brand new or years old, if it's generating views, you’ll earn something. The home page will feel alive—full of trending videos, images, and posts from across the community. Not just a list of threads, but a dynamic, visually rich feed that mirrors the energy of modern social platforms.

This is great, but how are you planning to deal with fake views?

A Chinese user can receive a DM from a Spanish speaker, and it’ll appear instantly in their own language—same for comments and posts.

Not sure which translation tool will be used on your platform, but there'll always be the issue of something getting lost in translation ^{[unfortunately]}.

Although this is something that younger generations would prefer, I think it'd be nice to also have an option to turn them off.
