Scam Alert:(Phishing Scam On Telegram)

That kind of scam has been around for a long time. I actually received one on my Facebook account before, and I even clicked the link.
If I remember correctly, I ended up changing my Facebook password right after. Lesson learned on my part,  never click links from strangers. Scams are everywhere, and once you fall for it, regret usually comes right after.

I've never been a victim, but I remember this tactic being commun on Facebook, where victims could easily be convinced it was a real profile based on the information and activity. The hacker would promise profit through investment advice, or the account might belong to a girl with sexually suggestive photos. Naive people would believe them and click on malicious links without even checking the simplest methods, installing programs or downloading files they didn't know about. On Telegram, the situation becomes more suspicious because most of the accounts are fake profiles. However, I expect many would believe them, given Telegram's popularity.

Nothing was lost on my end, but I still took the initiative to change my password right after clicking the link, just to be safe. as for Telegram, there are a lot of scammers lurking and watching potential victims. Being aware of that can really help minimize the risk of getting scammed.

The phishing link might have been reported already before you click it and your browser had to make it clear to you that is a scam, well we have seen the reason why phishing links should be reported all the time so that even if the person is a newbie they would no immediate they see warning, however how do they even claim to feature your pictures on there website when they don't no you or even seen your face before, however is good you stopped investigating as you did because anything that would make you to be opening those links might have given them access to you.

I definitely know that you do not know the person which causesd the suspicion andyou are right about it. I also would have just avoided the person. If the link is a file, it is a malware.

It seems that OP uses Google Chrome, so Chrome automatically displays a warning to avoid the site, and it turns out that this has started since 2018, based on the information I got from the reference above too.

Yes you are right.

But it is worth knowing that there are many sites that have the SSL/TLS certificate that belongs to scammers or hackers. We have seen many of them on this forum before and we are still seeing many of them till now.

That was probably used to get the attention of the Op, if they just send the link without anything - then it won’t have recieved any click but if they use such caption like the one in the image above; it would get people curious as to why their pictures would be on a site they don’t recognize and when they try clicking on it, they’d probably receive a prompt for them to login with their social media details to be able to view the image.

That’s just how this things works. I have received them before countless of time and that’s just how they work.

That's true, though. People have become smarter and its not everyone that would fall for the trap of clicking on a link they know that they didn't do anything to warrant it so these scammers use something else that they know would pique the curiosity of the person they want to scam.

We keep hearing of cheap scams like this and people falling for it and losing their hard earned monies or their details getting tampered with but still there's no action that has been taken. Is it that there is no way to report Telegram for this malicious activities that some people come and carry out on the platform or what?

Scammers continue to gain traction on Facebook using new persuasion methods; Simply create a Facebook group and convince people to believe what you say, regardless of the content. Later, the group members become the first group of potential victims. On Telegram, it's a little more difficult for hackers since most accounts are fake profiles, and convincing users of their authenticity is difficult. Therefore, scammers rely on users' naivety.

Anybody can be a victim of a scam like this, either by clicking on these sites willingly or even unknowingly. One just has to be very careful, especially on social media like Telegram, because the scam rate on Telegram is very high. The best thing to do to stay out of scams is just to ignore every site and every stranger. Giving attention to people you don't even know has really caused many people to get into trouble. People just need to be vigilant and apply wisdom to avoid falling into scams.

Telegram fraud was, is, and will be. Those who fear for themselves and are not confident in their ability to reject all messages that scammers can send should take the best protection, if a thousand similar ones that scream that you can’t trust strangers are not enough. It is obvious the site's domain names have been reported, same reason google has marked it potentially unsafe with a clue to their dirty actions on the space, the scammers are hungry ones too from my observation, else they would've properly added SSL cert to make it look real at least.

Again telegram is not a place to be trusted, so every deal there is just like a joke to me. The URL looks rather very disgusting to me, and would not even get my attention for a second.

However,it's wise not to investigate further,as these sites are often malicious and can pose a significant threat.

It’s definitely one way to get anyone curious alright but, you also have to ask;
Why is this individual so concerned?
How did this individual got to know it was me in the picture? And
Why didn’t he just do a screenshot and send it to me if this individual is really sure?

And, they message each of you and so maybe they can get someone who's going to fall for their scam. Telegram is a known place for scammers and never ever fall for the links that will be sent to you. Some of them will tell you that they've discovered a gold mine and would like you to have on board. That's already fishy then and so, avoid anyone who message you randomly and you have no idea who they are.

There are quite a lot of cryptocurrency crime syndicates out there, so many times people are attacked or fall victim to scam, it is not premeditated by just one person, there could be a larger group behind the scenes. These scammers, many times in their hundreds are working round the clock sending phishing links, offering fake job offers, stealing personal data, etc.

That said, it is important to be abreast with all of these methods of operation, so you can easily know when you are talking to a scammer.

Yeah, it could be a large group or just someone who does the operation alone. But regardless if he's part of the scam ring or not and does it alone, they're still completely scammers. While us, we're aware of their antics and unlikely to fall for it. The sad part is that there are still newbies and even the older ones who become a victim of these tricks. Also don't play with your greed with them because you're for sure going to ride them all along and will make you dance into their traps because of that. When they're able to detect that you're one greedy victim, their attention is on you and they won't let you go away unless you completely ignore them.

Yes, this type of scamming tactic has been around for a while, but still, everyone needs to be careful because this kind of message can come from any direction. It can come from any social media platform. If someone is not the type who is always careful, they might just click on the link. Let me say, someone might mistakenly click on the link because their mind may not be fully present at that moment. So it is possible for anyone to fall for a scam whether it been know before or not if someone is not that careful so much always.

I’m saying this because I have fallen for this kind before. I knew about it, but the day I was scammed using that strategy, it felt like magic to me. From that experience, I now believe that anyone can fall for any type of scam whether it's known to you or not as long as it's not the type of scam you read or talk about every day or often.The best way to avoid these scamming message tactics is to avoid clicking on any link that is not from a trusted source and to always delete any message that looks suspicious.

Lesson learned from other little mistakes I made in the past and I'm sure will not fall for any further mistakes again because I'have learned lessons. And the forum itself have helped me get quality knowledges that I lacked in the past. However, at first receiving messages from unknown person on social media is already a threat to me, I rather ignore it than give a second thought about it. Wouldn’t have thought this important if you haven’t mentioned and I sure would be looking out for these on every link before I access them as another layer of my web surfing security.

Luckily you realized it quickly, otherwise you would have deeply regretted your careless action of clicking the link. This type of scam is very common, I have even experienced these traps sent via email, social media and even WhatsApp private messages. Luckily I managed to identify the scam and then ignored it and blocked the contact.
It requires awareness and deeper analysis to avoid becoming a victim of phishing attacks, even though at first it looks very promising and offers big profits, but remember there is no free lunch given without expecting anything in return.

I've received two messages from unknown persons on Telegram,one on June 21 and another yesterday,both promoting the same scam.

Once i noticed something of this nature, then i block the user straight forward without hesitation, because there is no need of wasting time in reading what they have to offer, giving them audience is one of the ways we have already surrendered ourselves to them for further penetration, because its not proper enough for us to accept or engage in a conversation with someone we don't know, how do they managed to get our telegram username to have sent the message at first place, you cant see me join a random group i don't know about and once i noticed such, i exit myself and block such.

However, this type of scam is actually easy to spot as long as we are careful and vigilant when chatting or when someone sends a link.

If you receive a suspicious chat, you should immediately block it. If it comes from a group you don't belong to, you should leave and block it. One of the easiest ways to become a victim of phishing or fraud is for those who are greedy and careless when seeking information and immediately click on the shared website. I quite often receive chats like this from social media, and I immediately block them. I'm grateful that so far I've never been a victim of a scam. I hope it never happens again, because it's very painful.
