Prisons are usually supposed correctional facilities and so it does house people of very different orientation both morally and in every other aspects of lives,  this difference is a good reason enough not to allow certain things while these persons ar kept un the facility with the hope of getting them to be changed and better members of the society again,  when you allow these set of persons gamble,  there is a high risk tendencies of violence at its end do it is best to completely avoid it and let there be no gambling in prison.

This prison gambling usually just fictional since they are well monitored on the CCTV by police while they are not allowed to hold money and other valuable things in the prison most importantly any gambling materials.

Most of the prisoners do task depending on the country. So it’s very rare for prisoners to have allowed time to gamble among prisoners.

Prison in your country must be totally different from prisons in Europe or Post Soviet countries. Prison in those countries dont have CCTV in cells, and cells are not for one or two persons. It usually a room with one small windows with bars and 10-20+ prisoners in there. Metal door with a small windows separates cell from hall. Prisoners are not allowed to gamble or have accessories for gambling, but they do manage to create cards, backgammon or chessboard in cell from materials they have. As they spend majority of time in cell, they have nothing to do. I suppose you talk about prison where prisoners work, but they do it only for several hours a day (that is where they steal materials for crafting btw). I dont think that prisons are so well monitored as you imagine. Maybe your vision about prisons are built from movies, tv or in your country prison is a new and fancy building. In Europe, its usually already old buildings, where guards patrol halls once in a while, and maybe few times a day step in cell to look around.

I believe that people in prisons do indulge in betting,when they play their usual card games and other games too, and still, no one gets to know about it, so if they can be able to do it secretly without making a fuzz or attracting unnecessary attention, introducing other games to them and allowing them gamble openly, I believe wouldn't make much of a difference either, whether it is done under close supervision or not. But yeah, it could actually help to do so under close supervisions as it could also help maintain some level of orderliness when they gamble.

And there are a lot of gambling activities happening, and that is why sometimes when you watch most of these movies and how people gamble in prison is just surprising, and look at what happened in movies like boyeka, it comes with a lot of surprises how there fight fixed in prisons and prisoners are meant to gamble on who is going to win that is what surprised me and i don t know how real it is but the fact that am very sure that people are always gambling in prisons. and some of them might even make good money when they leave prison.

Nobody wants you in Jail  its quite a tough place for criminals, and from movies there just live like a total different world. And atmost the things you think are not there, get to reach inmates in ways you can't imagine. Even phones, and other metallic objects. I get to ask myself when watching videos of people behind bars, how do there slip in gadgets into the prison. However, I wouldn't think online gambling would happen in places like that, but offline gaming tend to go on wherever there are humans and sports.

Jail guards and their officials wanted to maintain peace and help everyone inside focus on changing their lives. It comes to the point that prisoners need to be punished to remind them of their wrongdoings.

I may not have said this was allowed before, but I believe it is until the time that gambling has caused riots and fights. It's not prohibited everywhere. In the few countries I've been to (all in the EU) prisoners are allowed to own decks of cards. Gambling for money is not allowed, but how are you going to prove that it was for money? They play using matches or cigarettes as currency and then the winner actually gets paid in commissary items, but it doesn't happen during the game so even if you get caught playing the CO will have nothing to charge you.

Yeah people do Gamble in prison and sometimes the officers are tired of trying to stop them however is not allowed in prison because of the chaos it can cause in the prison, there was a news I saw some time ago here in my country where prisoners fought and killed someone and when investigation was done it was discovered that it was caused by gambling, so gambling in prison should not be allowed because it can cause a lot of problems.
I have never been to prison and I don't know the situation of things in my country prison but I'm sure they are still gambling there but it is without the knowledge of the prison officers, some prisoners use their food to gamble in order to get more food.

I don't know where you live but even in the most advanced countries cell phones enter and like the inmates inside they can do what they want, the fact of having the possibility to do what they want also leads them to gamble so it's not a strange thing to see them betting on everything.

That's true. Even there's no money involved (since they can bet using food or items) it's still not good to have such activity in prison. It can only lead to chaos if they can't control their emotions for losing in the game. I have a neighbor (an ex-prisoner due to illegal drugs) he said that there's nothing new in such act since it also became one of their entertainment and you just have to go with the flow. Old inmates should be respected because they already stayed for long there, they are usually the ones initiating the game and the rules inside.

That's why I prefer to keep my identity anonymous when I gamble, if law enforcement were to find out, it could cause serious trouble. I bet gambling is one of the few ways prisoners entertain themselves. Life in prison, from what I’ve heard, can be incredibly boring. For people, that have broken law and got into prison, the word "prohibited" has little power. Even if a prison was caught playing cards, what a guard can do? Put him in solitary for several days and that is it. When that person gets out, he will continue what he was doing. Imo, in order to have piece and order, guards often becomes blind when they see prisoners gamble. You cant punish every prisoners and solitary cant fit every prisoner. Actually, here in my country it is possible for inmates to have access to gambling, but those with access to phones are the ones who have the possibility to command gangs from prison, to order them to murder or to target specific people outside of the prison. Which is pretty scary, if you think about it.
If you search on the internet" Venezuela Prison" you will find those facilities here in my country have been completely turned into strongholds for the gangs, where they do not only gamble. They have access to pools, prostitutes, bars and all kinds of services, some of them look more like hotels for prisoners than actual prison. Which is very disturbing, to day the least.
