People saying so definitely have a proper reason for saying it, alcohol is dangerous if abused and it has dealt with some people that I know, they didn't just get drunk for a night or two, it was a repeatedly action. I mean, without such aggressive advertising as there is now, people might not go to casinos to try to win money. I agree with you, when we see people who have ruined their lives in a very bad way due to gambling or drug addiction, then it would definitely be good if we could learn the right lesson from them and be careful. I only know that alcohol is prohibited to be taken by people below the age of 18 but I don't know that it's banned in some places like you mentioned and what could be the valid reason why alcohol will be ban in your country? Do you mind to share? Gambling is prohibited in some country because of their religion, tradition or the negative side of it which they believe can affect many people if allowed but alcohol is a no no for me.

Most countries in the middle east ban gambling and alcohol, also Islamic dominated nations are against both too. It could be he's a citizen of such nations. Because Islam is among the religious groups that's fully against drinking alcohol.
