I have not seen something like this before until our president attended BRICS summit in Brazil some weeks ago. Read this interesting news about it: US Restricts Nigerian Non-Immigrant Visas To Three Months, Single Entry

I later read two other reasons about what triggered what is happening between Nigeria and United States, but I still see this point to be the most valid or the major. Read the link above to know what I am talking about.

This time, United States government advises their citizens not to visit Nigeria, that they should reconsider traveling to Nigeria. Although, almost everything I read is true but not all, or maybe not true in my region. Like hospitals here all accept online payments but I know the infrastructures and services rendered may not be of standard like the one in United States. Shame on our government for that. I can say 95% of it are true.

Ordinary the Nigerian government through its machinery like the minister of foreign affairs obviously would want to deny or fault the United States of America for making those claims, the Nigerian government is good in making bogus statement in defending herself, but the fact speaks for itself. from the six geo-political Zones in Nigeria, there is no part of it that does not have one security challenge that is not overwhelming to the security architecture of those parts as affected, wether they call it banditry, kidnapping, herders and farmers clashes, boko Haram insurgency and a whole lot more. so a country that values her citizens would always warn her citizens ahead of time, as to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

I really don't blame the United States government, because as we all know, one of the major duties of any responsible government is to safeguard the lives of its citizens. And when the US government sensed rising insecurity and potential threat, we cannot reallyexpect them to silent about it. They have to issue the travel advisory cos its part of their job.

Okay lets even look at the current state of things in Nigeria, we will see things like kidnappings, terrorist activities and general instability in most regions. So it is hard for me to say that the US government were wrong about what they said or did.

So while the Federal Government is trying to protect her country’s image, which is understandable, they shouldn’t however neglect the true reality or try to cover it up they should acknowledge this problem and do something about it.

So to answer the question @Charles- Tim: the United States government is right here. Cos their actions are based on facts, not sentiments or any kind of racist ideology.

The United States is right, it's not longer a secret that the level of insecurity is on the high side even intra State travelers are not safe in their own country talk more of a foreigner. If the government cannot protect their own, the life of a foreigner is even at a bigger risk.

As usual the Nigeria government are always on the defensive side and are always quick to respond to criticism but never act or make remedy. Why would any country not warned their citizens about traveling to a country there bandits and kidnappers are on social media and live streaming their daily activities without consequences. The North are not different from Pakistan and Afghanistan at the moment.

Pakistan are in good terms with the United States right now while Trump is pressuring Indian not to buy Russian oil and hit with 25% tariff.

Afghanistan is ruled now by Taliban and I wish not to be in such a country that do not want their females to have anything to do in public that to be house wives.

I do not like how United States is going by badmouthing Nigeria. We know how some bad things are happening in Nigeria but if we are close to United States and not be a BRICS partner this will not be coming from them. They will not care about the terrible things that is happening in our country than to support. This only makes me understand international politics more. I will just advise you people not to side United States when they are only playing politics. Although, what they said are true.

Nigeria hasn't gotten to that level but we're losing the war against terrorism and bandits every day and they're expending territory. We used to have bandits attacks only in the North but now they've started attacking SE and SW communities and keep expanding.

Nigeria is very good in politics, both internally and internationally. Is it not surprising you that Trump only increase tariffs for Nigeria to 14%?  It is still one of the lowest. What they can do is to bad mouth us and limit us to going to their country United States because we are too many and many people want to go there. Aside that, United States is nothing to us.

I believed Nigeria would have been invited for membership but they chose to be partner instead and I am certain dedollarization is not the reason Nigeria is a partner.

Many people did not want it and most people want to run away from the country when United States was leaving. I saw the video at the time. some people even fell from the plane when it was already in the air. No one will not like education. Female children were in school before United States left the country. Also women have role in the public, unlike now. Taliban government promised that they will let it remain that way, but they failed to fulfill the promise.

Partnering with the enemies of the United States is a threat to the United States. Remember United States can survive and do without our oil but we can't stay relevant without the United States.

How are we going to survive when we rely solely on their market for almost everything? They are our largest oil buyer, accounting for more than 70% of our total exports. As long as we rely on oil as a country, we cannot do without the US market.

Crude oil and refined products from crude oil are still very important in this world. If United States do not buy from us, other countries will buy. When many European countries did not buy from Russia, it becomes an opportunity for countries like India to buy from Russia. If they like, they should stop importing oil from us. Oil is hot cake in this world.

We export to other countries like Spain, Netherlands and France...

In 2024 that United States imported more, it is far not at all up to 70% also.

Do not forget that Dangote also started importing crude oil from the United States.

All I know is that Nigeria government are good in the politics and international relations. We are not in the world that United States will be dictating for us. Nigeria is not a problem when it comes to dedollarization. They should know that. Dedollarization can not even happen or be significant for now and in long term.
