Re: The rise of Ai powered crypto scams
I don't know for others, but ever since AI has became a thing, and becoming more and more popular, many already expected that it will also be used by scammers to scam those newbies, and here they are doing that thing.

This is the reason why we need to be more knowledgeable when it comes to investing because these scammers will do everything, and use everything just for their scam to be a success. You also said "$1.03 trillion lost to scammers", but let's not forget that not all of these came from scams where AI is being used because there are still many ways that scammers are using. What I will try to say is that, GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE AND DON'T STOP. In this way, you will know how to distinguish which are scams and which are not. The more knowledge that you have, the higher the chances of you knowing if it's a scam or not.

Technology is evolving, and so do the scammers as well. Always have the time to research and watch educational videos on YouTube. Trust me, it's a big help. It also helped me when I was starting to learn about cryptocurrency. Smiley

Basically this are not types of AI scams but merely the areas which artificial intelligence has helped the scam industry to advance more by providing assistance in writing and image generation.

For someone very vigilant like we used to say in this forum, be suspicious of everything, you will definitely figure out on time that it's a pure scam and most of the people impersonated are famous people who in a real sense wouldn't give you a DM or send you and unsolicited message.

If not hacks then AI powered or prompted imagines are always obvious. However it's good you brought more information to some our notice.

Exactly.

There is nothing new here.

All these types of methods for scamming have already existed, chatbots have simply made it easier for someone to pull off a scam of this magnitude.

People are not getting any smarter though. (If anything, quite the opposite.)
They are still smart their just became lazy over the years they try to depend everything to automations, before everyone try to check everything but since we depend too much to technology and Enovation, we forget that scammers also evolve, adapting to the technology and abusing those to their advantage and capitalizing on the weakness, that we became lazy, to do extra things that we just allowed the system to do it for us, that's when the scammers target that weakness, because they know we are not double checking things, sometimes.

If you read this article then this a type of social engineering scam where someone is sending an AI generated image of a man to a lady and to meet in person the men demanded air fare from the lady which she sent. It's not the first time we are hearing such story where people are scammed in the name of dating. Still it's good that OP has shared this article for info of all of us to remain vigilant while interacting with people online. Just few simple precautionary measures can save us from losing money, no one can help us until we remain vigilant online.

The more sophisticated technology becomes, the more scam becomes sophisticated or difficult to be bursted. But one good thing is that with the help of the AI you can also detect a scam. As I saw this thread, what comes to my mind is sending a prompt to chatgpt to draft me words that will enable me scam a group of people. I wonder what kind of reply it will give to me.
If chatgpt is developed with ethics in mind, it's not supposed to process the prompt. It should give a feedback like "Sorry, I am not programmed to enable crime, I cannot help you". But if it gives feedback, I know that things are so wrong.

From my observations, people are real not getting smarter however scammers are not merely depending on ordinary information to scam instead they take it to a higher level of using highly intelligent individuals who studied human psychology and knows vulnerabilities that people can take and use it against them.

Using the current information on scams you will agree with me that the targets are mostly older men and women who are technically vulnerable and has savings they will likely want to multiply hence they use such medium with the help of AI to generate real looking imagines and messages to shared across to their victims.

Unfortunately, this is true, and with the advent of ubiquitous artificial intelligence, we can see how it affects the people who use it, whether for "good" or bad purposes. It may be too early to say what will happen to people who will think less and less with their heads and use their brains and let AI think and make decisions for them, but as things stand in the future, we will have great trouble remaining the people we once were (although some will say that maybe that's not a bad thing).

The only reason people get scammed is because they are naive, ignorant and because they wanna be scammed. I've been scammed a couple of times in the past, most of those times, it wasn't that I didn't know or feel sceptical about it, I suspected it was an actual scam but still wanted to go for it and it just proved my guess right... Some might say I acted out of greed or something, but I wouldn't look at it like that, it's more of giving it a chance to to see if they could actually prove you wrong.
So most people who are scammed, actually do have a clue from the onset that it could potentially be a scam, regardless of the evidence you put in front of them to convince them, if they don't wanna be scammed, they won't.
