'Wallet of Satoshi' Update for Self-Custody?

Does anyone know when there will be an update for the 'Wallet of Satoshi' app for the addition of self-custody that partner Spark is providing?

I understand 'Wallet of Satoshi' has already launched a self-custodial Lightning wallet beta version in partnership with Spark, but I'm interested in a final version update.  

The integration with Spark is said to allow Wallet of Satoshi users to have full control over their Bitcoin, addressing the previous custodial nature of the wallet. The beta update also enabled 'Wallet of Satoshi' to re-enter the U.S. market after its 2023 departure. Bitcoin News reported on X the beta version is now live, but I don't think the beta version is automatically coming with the app.

My limited experience with the 'Wallet of Satoshi' app is that it does not provide any indication that self-custody is part of the app, such as using a seed phrase, etc.

I am not from United States where it was said it would be launched. So I am not following the stupidity. Why should a self-custody wallet be lauched in just a single country when it supposed to be available for everyone.

I think there is a wait list to even use/test the beta version.  I'm lookin for a final version rather than being a Guinea pig.  Hopefully it will be an update.

Since self-custody requires a degree of user interaction, an update that adds Spark's self-custody integration to the app can't go unnoticed in a background app update...

Good luck trying to find self-custodial wallet for lightning network vaporware  
I really don't see the point in use lightning when there is near zero adoption, and bitcoin mainnet fees are very low this days.
Better use regular open source Bitcoin non-custodial wallets like Electrum, Sparrow or maybe even Cake wallet, if you want to have better privacy and support for Silent Payments.

Is there a particular reason why you are waiting for the new version of the Wallet of Satoshi to be released to the public instead of using a different software that is already available and working if you really want to use the Lightning Network? For instance, why not try Phoenix Wallet? It's got more connections and open payment channels than WOS anyway.

The best way to stay informed about the new developments around WOS is to follow their X profile I think. Make a dummy account if you have to. The beta version is a private invite-only system. If you have experience with LN and WOS, you can contact their support team and ask to test it. If you don't want to, you'll have to wait for more information in the future. I doubt that anyone here knows more about their timeline.

The Satoshi Wallet was the first Lightning wallet I used a few years ago, and to be honest, I really liked it; it was very simple and easy to use. I used it to receive BTC from Nicehash and to make some gift card payments and to bet at some casinos that accepted LN 
It is very important that they finally listened to users and will be allowing self-custody, now the wallet can be included in the recommended list

Perhaps because it is still in beta, they may be limiting users and releasing it in stages

The Android link is taking me to custodial Wallet of Satoshi and not a noncustodial wallet.

I read about what is new about the app on Playstore and there is nothing like going noncustodial also just to rule out my doubt further but I know it is custodial and not the noncustodial version.

I hope this is not shady from Wallet of Satoshi creators because some people can not differentiate between custodial and noncustodial wallet.

Perhaps they haven't updated that part. The information might be old and outdated. They have confirmed over X that it's the correct link. It seems that both the custodial and non-custodial wallets are merged in the same software. You need to configure in the settings menu which one you want to use: either the custodial or the non-custodial service.

A user from the US said that the software showed him a notification that his region is not supported. The WOS team replied to him that he should go into settings and switch to self-custody mode.

I tried all at the time also. I went through the menu, I did not see it. I went through the setting and I did not see it also. I am not from United States, maybe that is the reason. Or maybe because I did not sign up and login. I may do that later with a disposable email.

I also installed Wallet of Satoshi a few minutes ago. I checked everything and there was no way to switch to the 'non-custodial' version of their software by downloading the wallet from the links they provided. Even after logging in with an email address, which is needed for their custodial LN service, nothing changes in the settings that allows you to make the switch.

I don't know if it depends on the country and region in which you are located or if the option isn't there at all, regardless of what they claim on social media.
