Stolen iconic Satoshi Nakamoto statue recovered by Lugano municipality

The iconic statue of pseudonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto has become a textbook symbol of the global Bitcoin movement, and it has been reported stolen. SatoshiGallery, the art organization responsible for installing the statue, said the statue was reported stolen on Saturday.

Municipal workers in the Swiss city of Lugano have recovered the statue, which was removed from its base at the Swiss city's lakefront park Parco Ciani by unknown individuals and thrown into Lake Lugano.

Municipal workers discovered the statue in several pieces, indicating vandalism rather than theft for financial gain. The statue was welded to the base in only two places near the feet of the statue, which were fixed to the base.

SatoshiGallery is offering a 0.1 BTC reward for the recovery of the statue, which is worth more than $11,000.

It was recovered back since 4 days ago.

Cointelegraph reached out to the art collection for comment but had not received a response by the time of publication.
In case of next time, you do not need to mention this.

Yes the Lugano municipality was able to restore this statue several days ago and we saw that some drunk people did that. In fact while returning from a nearby cafe, they vandalized the statue and threw it into the lake while drunk but they had the necessary weapons to vandalize it. So based on their investigation, it seems that this act may have been planned. So based on this tasteless and stupid act, it can be said that this invisible person may be a role model for everyone. Perhaps the respect of all Bitcoiners for him will continue to grow over time because he has never sold his Bitcoin but rather is gradually surpassing famous people in terms of wealth. To be honest an Italian Bitcoin advocate uncovered this artwork.

You cant expect that they offer a reward that will be worth or close to the worth of the statue, if not, they would have forgotten about the stolen one and made another, to me, it wasn't stolen sef, rather destroyed by any anti bitcoin or random person(s), if they can find it close the Lugano bank, then this shows that the intention was to destroy the statue into the river so no one can trace on it again, people can be so wicked.

Honestly I don't think that statue was even protected properly. Initially it was thought to have been stolen only to be found discarded. The only valuable thing about the statue is that it was made to represent Satoshi and the idea is to show how Bitcoin can be anonymous because the statue is that of a faceless man.

That's what I thought too when I saw that news I was like why didn't they make another one instead of offering a reward for whoever discovers the missing part, except maybe the material used in making the item is very  expensive and worth the reward, however if you think deep about it you could conclude that it was done intentionally by a Bitcoin hater as you said.

Inasmuch as Bitcoin is very beneficial to people like us there are some folks who seriously have hatred for it over their own mistake, sometimes they traded with a shitcoin and lost heavily then developed the wrong mindset that all coins are the same. Well it would take a team of good divers to go search for it inside the river and recover the missing parts, the reward is worth it.

I think this is an intentional act by buying critics lining in Switzerland. Maybe guys showed their disapproval of Bitcoin by attaching it's founder's statue. Further thoughts would be some assholes who bought the top before the dip experiences in past weeks, so they were enraged by their wrong timing and transferred aggression to the statue.

This should tell you it was fully planned, no one goes to the bar armed with such weapons. Switzerland is a developed country, The surveillance cameras did a bad job too by not capturing the culprits, else there should be no need for bounty on the statue recovery.

In fact initially it was thought that the statue had been stolen but later on it was revealed that the statue had fallen into a nearby lake. Even we noticed that the statue of the Bitcoin founder was broken into several pieces but it is still not certain whether they had any intention behind breaking this statue. The drunks returning from the cafe had weapons, which suggests that this act may have been planned. Maybe you're right that they were angry after buying Bitcoin at a high price, which may have made them resent the statue.

The statue of Satoshi Nakamoto has already been recovered and that work was done by the Lugano municipality, so my idea perhaps they are not investigating it on an urgent basis at the moment but if it was really planned, then the prize they announced for this statue might be really absurd.
