I understand the DT system to work with trust and reputation of a user in the forum that makes other DT members to include them in their trust list and even though some users earn trust due to the assessment of their past behaviors to their present but i think that an inactive DT member should be removed because if a member can stay out of the forum for over 5 years, what will be the probability that they will come back to the forum someday and still maintain same level of reputation that got them trust from some DT members? Perhaps, for those who made it clear they won't return to the forum again, what is the essence of still leaving them in the DT? besides, the positive trust feedback from other DT members should be enough.

Inactive doesn't make their feedback inaccurate, so inactive users being in DT is still relevant.

Certain users did perform certain activities to have been trusted or made a DT. In the event that they are inactive, it doesn’t notify their previous activities. Should they come later and show case characters that aren’t becoming of trust, certainly those who included them in their trust ratings would be sure to remove them.

If you look at a thread in the reputation board that focuses on possible bought accounts, you might as well find how some inactive accounts that later became active are treated or approached. Same could apply until users to have trusted them deem it otherwise.

For those that made it clear to never return, you would always find them with negative tags.

How possible is that, are you going to ask those that included the inactive member in they trust list to remove the market to take off their DT rights?

Far from that, inactive doesn't change anything regarding their previous dealing that earn them the trust that get them into the DT in the first place.

While removing inactive DT members could be understandable, it's crucial to understand that even in their absence, their past contributions and reputation might still hold a lot of value to the community. Regardless of the fact that these members hasn't been active for that long, their established reputation could still continue to influence other member's opinions and decisions and honestly, IMO I feel removing them from DT would be seen as devaluing their reputation and contributions here when they were still active members here.

There is no point in getting anyone inactive from the DT member unless they have shown an attitude that could prove they are not to be trusted. There are members who, even when they are not active again on the forum, their contributions still hold an impact based on the type of feedback they have given to accounts they have personally had encounters with. Getting them off the DT list will free all the tagged accounts, both positive and negative. One such case happened in the past when... Lauda was removed from DT

if a member can stay out of the forum for over 5 years, what will be the probability that they will come back to the forum someday
May I remind you of this thread Is laszlo back? by fillippone. The probability is as equal as Laszlo a legendary member of the forum acting his account again after several years of being inactive. So there is a possibility that someone who has left the forum for long can come back.

I understand the DT system to work with trust and reputation of a user in the forum that makes other DT members to include them in their trust list and even though some users earn trust due to the assessment of their past behaviors to their present but i think that an inactive DT member should be removed
The DT system is different from any other thing in the forum, a valid accusation and a valid feedback sticks of the profile for everyone, if DTs who left are removed the feedbacks will also change sharp.

In my opinion it's nothing to worry about because it still serves it's purpose whether they are active or not. If you had referred to there thing in the forum that inactive members occupied it would make more sense.

So in a nutshell reputation and past legacy means nothing if the person is no longer around
It's like saying the opinion of someone that's no more shouldn't mean much even if it's true.

I believe people atleast have the right to trust who they choose to trust and shouldn't be dictated by the forum

If it were about DT1 members, I would agree that only active DT1 members should be elected. In the case of DT2, I don't think there is any urgency to exclude them from the default trust.
The issue here is basically a matter of trust . A user can include another user in the trust until he is not involved in any scam or abuse. In this case, I don't think it matters whether he is active or not.

You need to learn how to quote correctly. I am not saying that a user cannot return to the forum again after many years, i am saying that can they really maintain same reputation that made other DT members to trust them years ago. Since you mentioned Laszlo here, we are aware that the profile woke up after many years and i think they haven't made a post but supposing he was to be a DT member, can we tell if his reputation years ago will still remain the same now? what if he has a questionable character now and has ulterior motives for coming back to the forum don't you think that many people can fall for his trap due to the idea that he has a past reputation that was trusted by many?

It doesn't matter

DT Member = Someone whose feedback will be visible in the user's profile by default.
Trusted Member = Someone who received positive feedback from DT member.

Many confuse these two terms, add someone into their trust list because they are a trusted member but it is supposed to be based on how accurate their feedback on others.

You need to learn how DT works. If you know how it works, your question answered.

DT1 is added manually by Theymos. He selected the DT1 members from DT2.
DT1 members can added people. Anyone added will automatically become DT2.

Theymos will remove inactive people from DT1, but he can not remove inactive people from DT2 because they are automatically added by DT1 members.

But as many years passes and no DT1 added them because Theymos removed those DT1 that added the DT2, or in a way that the DT1 later become DT2 and no one added him to DT2 anymore, the person will finally be removed from DT one day

With time, they will all be removed but it can take many years or decades until theymos will removed DT1 before something like this will happen.

But the way DT2 is, your request can not be accepted. Not the admin that added them but DT1 added them.

I thought that the DT1 members are being elected by the members in the DT (both DT1 and DT2). If the DT1 are being selected by Theymos, what are the criteria?. I have come across cases in the reputation board where a DT member is accused of manipulating the DT elections. So how does the election works?

Nope, if it's working, don't touch it.

If someday, theymos want to rework the usage of trust feedback, the current members will able to put the inactive DT members on distrust list, because it's no longer relevant.

Or if someday the inactive DT members come back to this forum and leave inaccurate feedback as many as they want, people would put them on distrust list too. It's not something important to be honest.

DT1 is added manually by Theymos. He selected the DT1 members from DT2.

I stand to be corrected but I think this is not accurate.

Theymos don't manually add DT1, it's the algorithm that determine DT1 based on the criteria listed on this thread here in where he point as #3.

Theymos itself is a DT1 like every other membes the algorithm selected, if he manually add you to his Trust list doesn't make you DT1, you will be DT2 just like how other DT1 that make their trust list to have DT2.

However, Theymos can remove DT1 if only they are abusing the system.

I stand to be corrected but I think this is not accurate.
I do not know if it is done manually or automatically, but I just want to prove a point that if DT member has been inactive for so long on this forum, there is possibility that the member will later be removed from the system. The link you even posted up there showed how easy someone can be removed from DT1 and if we think about it very well, also we can see how it can later lead to someone being removed from DT2 if all memebers that added the person are no more active and removed from DT1.

Inactive doesn't do harm but DT with malicious behaviour or reports should be.

if a member can stay out of the forum for over 5 years, what will be the probability that they will come back to the forum someday and still maintain same level of reputation that got them trust from some DT members?

If someone who is in DT and got inactive comes back and doesn't maintain the same reputation from the past, they will be removed by those who are still active, and if there are other members who trusted them in the past and are now inactive themselves, the currently active DT members can red-tag the account and specify that the previous trust scores are irrelevant and shouldn't be considered.

Perhaps, for those who made it clear they won't return to the forum again, what is the essence of still leaving them in the DT? besides, the positive trust feedback from other DT members should be enough.

As explained by someone else earlier, removing someone from DT who has left the forum might free a whole army of accounts that the user had tagged during his time in the forum for the right reasons. So, it basically defies the purpose of the system because if old DT members are removed only because they are inactive, whatever has happened in the past will suddenly become totally irrevelant and that shouldn't be the case, and records should stay, forever, or at least for as long as possible.

First question i have here why care about the Default Trust System all even you dont have a personal trust list of yourself or have given any Feedback about an User.
Is there maybe some Alt Accounts that negativ effect it from there Feedbacks and stuff ?
It really depends on your one Trust Settings and how are handle the Default Trust Settings , You are your own blacksmith here.
Why you care about that even you dont have some experience with that , maybe if you read some things about it you will understand it , if that Account is not Alt Account.

DT system is quite decentralized, even it is not perfect decentralized, so you can not remove any DT member and his trust feedback just because of his too long time of inactivity.

Your question is asked many times by other forum members and there will be no big change on it: remove inactive DT members and related trust feedbacks.

Individually, each forum member can exclude other members even DT members from his trust list.

theymos has his latest post on this issue.
it's still in consideration only.
