I think that the current POTUS Trump does not understand or does not really believe in what was the UN goal: Prevent wars by creating a forum in which Diplomacy could occur.
Of course it is not perfect and it has failed to prevent several wars and since some countries have a veto, it fails to resolve controversial issues. However at least is there and facilitates the countries speaking to each other.

infact it was isreal/US itself that tried to get hamas to the negotiation table with using qatar as the hosting country.
however, the UN want to recognise hamas as a legitimate government, to continue control of gaza. the UN has not sought to request hamas to lay down its arms
the UN has not tried to get a different palestinian group to approach a event of elections to try to get peaceful control of the region through democracy
heck, the UN also dont want other countries sending in aid into gaza. the UN asked egypt to step back, the UN even asked isreal and us to step back, the UN asked other arab nations to step back and instead asked them all to just leave food at the border and let hamas bring it inwards of the border
even the UN's own stockpile of food is left at the border because they dont want other aid agencies taking it inwards.. the UN itself wont even send its own volunteers or workers inwards, they know its not safe for even them, so they just want to keep the peace and say it hamas that need to take the food in
and thats why UN aid is left to rot while isreal is actually trying to fed palestinians, even if isreal have no legal responsibility to feed them
the UN is not facilitating peace talks. the UN instead love to get their donations and membership fee's to take their middleman profits, but then leave individual countries to try to handle things themselves
take the hamas-isreal negotiations last month.. those were not facilitated by the UN council, but by being mediated by the trump administration in qatar with other arab nations involved

in qatar, there is a UN HQ.. but negotiations didnt happen there, .. yes UN's antonio gutteres could have travelled to qatar to mediate/head the negotiations.. but didnt*. instead the trump administration organised with qatar for representatives of isreal, hamas, and other interested parties to use their own embassy's/offices within qatar(yes even hamas has offices in qater) whereby in their separate offices they had a conference call and individual calls between the representatives.. all set, scheduled and mediated by trumps administration
* UN's antonio gutterres instead stayed in the US UN HQ and asked representatives of qatar and other arab nations to come to the US HQ and they tried to get some cooperation in regards to the peace talks.. which obviously by the UN then not mediating the peacetalks. shows how (un)well those discussions were
All that is mostly relevant to your propaganda agenda, not so much to the question posed, but it is the perfect example of how many people intend to use it, and when they fail, they critizize.
The UN is as useful as the members, particularly the permanent members allow it to be.
If you intend to use it as an extension of an specific agenda you will achieve two things: Nothing related to that agenda and the UN being eventually irrelevant.
