In a point of view gambling was never meant to be for only fun. It was made for either you loose I make money , or your luck is soo good you make money. A person/individual can win sometimes a big amount, that will hooked him too do more gambling. I was disscusing with one of my friend's today. He play slots and cashed out a heavy amount of sacks. So there was a even needed to do only wagering for complete wager. So I did told him that why not approach safest way to do so. Sure, I think it would but it would be much less profitable and there might be far fewer gambling companies around because the margins would be much lower. I'm not sure that "gambling for fun" and "gambling for profit" are mutually exclusive, you can want both at the same time. People can play computer games for free for fun, you can go play chess in the park for fun or any number of other things - what gives it more excitement is having money on the line which can actually amplify your enjoyment. The real question should be when the fun stops, like when you get into automatic routines without feeling happy or sad about the outcome of games, whether the casinos or bookmakers should allow you to continue - because you're an addict.

It would absolutely survive because not many people are addicted to gambling. Because of my job, I've been in touch with millions of gamblers and have had access to a huge amount of data. I've also been a Customer Support for a while. Long story short, the majority of players, especially those from rich European countries, are mostly for fun but those from poor countries are mostly for money. For example, we had a BJ table that was serving Italian players. They were all quiet, it was extremely rare to see them writing something in the chat or blaming the dealer or the provider, while tables that were serving to people from poor countries, were full of players who were threatening dealers, cursing the provider, the casino and it was clear that they had addiction problems.

I will say here that gambling is definitely done for money because here ultimately money is mainly invested so everyone's aim will be to increase money from here at least a little and basically everyone gambles for this but at the same time we have to remember that gambling is only made for entertainment and over time we are getting some changes in it.
But if the matter is not that we are not taking it for entertainment purpose and we are taking it as a money generating source then our future will be in a lot of uncertainty because gambling is dependent on luck here none of us know when we will win and when we will lose so making a career here means taking life in an unhealthy environment. So my personal opinion is that yes if people gamble only for entertainment then this industry will still exist but it is true that their revenue will be less.

However the main reason why gamble was even made was because of entertainment, so they will always be in profits when gamblers are gambling for entertainment.
