I once experienced how easy it was when I was simply playing and placing bets, but at some point I hit a losing streak and couldn't stand it. I agree with you. We can only give advice to  addicted gamblers. We should not do anything more than that. Even if he is my friend. If we try too hard, my relationship with him will get worse. So we should not worry about any other gamblers outside our family member. We can only inform him about the bad aspects  of gambling addiction. We can tell him about  some ways to stay away from addiction. Addiction to anything is bad for us. But we should not do anything more than that.

The problem is that when someone is addicted to gambling, they won't realize it until they have really lost a lot of material things, and that's my experience too, do you really have to lose a lot of material things to realize it? That's the fact.

What I see is that when a person is becoming addicted, they start to realize it because it's not their usual behavior , it's something strange. When they start spending more money than normal, that's when the alarm bells should ring I think that's the first symptom of all this, and that's where it needs to be nipped in the bud.

I am afraid it is more complex than that, actually... An important percentage of people who is addicted to gambling are so severely affected by their addiction that they do not understand or don't get advice, they just crave more and more dopamine shots from their gambling sessions. Gambling addiction in that sense can fog common sense very easily. I'd wish advice was enough to keep people away from behavioral addictions like gambling addiction, but it is not reality. Otherwise, we would not see so many people struggling with their choices and consequences of those choices in real life.

Possibly a draft, measures, or procedures outlined to be adopted after advising the addicted gambler who is willing and ready to stop addiction can go a long way to helping them if they follow the process sequentially under supervision. While i am all for responsibility, getting rid of your own addiction by yourself isn't something everyone is equipped to do. They might need real help, and just for asking it is taking it seriously and talks volumes about responsibility that addict is claiming.

And by help, i don't mean money, even though sometimes money helps if person is deep enough. But if that comes as fast and automatic response, addicts can learn that there are no consequences they need to be afraid of, so there's no need for change.

Yeah, that was not the plan. Most gamblers are just playing and would never notice that they are already getting hooked on the gambling games and cannot stop anymore. Even if they are losing a significant amount of money, they cannot stop. It's because they are either chasing the losses or they are getting greedy to play more after winning a big multiplier.
That can happen to anyone, and the only thing stopping the gambler is when he loses all his money and is unable to deposit anything anymore. That's when realization will strike him, and it's up to the gambler if he will continue on or he will stop.

I agree, and this all boils down to mindset, a gambier’s mindset is everything, before a gambler can be influenced by his environment or peer group, he need to have already developed the mindset, what these factors can only do is fuel an already existing mindset and not to create one. Except in some cases whereby the person is still new and still don’t understand how it works, then surely they can be easily influenced, but if the gambler has already developed a positive mindset about gambling, no matter the negative mindset or energy in the environment, it’ll be difficult or even impossible to change or alter that mindset.

Before you come across someone or a gambler who has lost relationships and family because of addiction, you should know better that counseling won't help such a person. Of course, before people left him, they must have advised him enough and got really tired and let him face his reality. Gambling is never a source of income, and no gambler should have the mindset of raising the bar with gambling; if they do, addiction will be next. In this case, it's better for you to arrange rehabilitation for such a person if you want to help, although it's not a guarantee to leave betting, but with the days out of betting, he will learn new ways to handle himself out of it. It’s incredibly difficult once a gambler develops an addiction. Usually, they struggle to control themselves because it has become a deep-seated habit, especially when they don’t apply any limits to the money they gamble.

To resolve this, I believe it’s going to be a long process. They didn't become addicts overnight; it took days, months, or even years before they
reached that state. Healing and breaking that habit will take time as well.
