Base on my experience its easier to monitor to have a different portfolio for the long term investment and for the short term tokens to flip with, for the long term its good to have a hardware wallet or the cold wallet which is disconnected online to avoid uncessary transactions without confirmation to the device, next is to have your hot wallet which can be use for storing your funds temporary for a short period of time of course we dont want to store our money to the exchange we have the not your keys not your coins so have a hot wallet or cold its up to you, next is the exchange you will use for actively trading of buy and selling your assets. Now its your strategy how to grow your wallet, could be a DCA, Trading, airdrops etc. You can easily track and monitor the progress with less hassle.
If you want to go with long term and short term at the same time, you must split your capital to two parts at least. One part for long term investment, another part for short term trading; and you must use an open source non custodial wallet for your long term investment holding while another wallet for short term trading with DEX or an account on a centralized exchange.

Capital split, wallet split are very vital to maintain good practice and make sure that you will not easily use your investment capital for trading. It has higher chance to happen if you store all fund in a single wallet or in one account, then you will flip capital of investment to trading and end with trading losses.
I think I like this idea of capital split, it has been coming up lately as a way of mitigating risk and forestalling discipline. Not only in asset management do I see this applicable, even for holders, you can split your asset into different wallets for improved security so that you don't lose everything at once upon any security breach.  I really feel bad when I see someone lose years of savings to scammers, for the reason that he kept everything in one device or one wallet.
