There’s an ongoing rally in the country right now, with reports saying more than 30k people from different sectors have joined. Honestly, I expected it to turn out like Nepal or Indonesia, but so far it’s been peaceful.

What I don’t like though is how politicians are taking advantage. They’re joining the rally for their own personal interests.
It would’ve been better if no politicians showed up at all, no matter what color they represent.

https://www.manilatimes.net/2025/09/21/news/more-than-30000-seen-joining-anti-corruption-rallies-on-sept-21/2187693

There's lots videos about the protest spreading on Youtube and maybe the world could see what's currently happening in Philippines if they saw those clips.

Corruption became more heavier now and its good to see that lots of people step up and come together to show their disappointment on current administration. Although people didn't succeed to make the President step down on his office, but for sure it gives warning to him and to official to correct the system also their future actions since there's good chance that there's more violent protest will happen.

What happen today is something that what government need to get feared off since people would provably do more of this actions, if those politicians will not stop  stealing money from their country.

So many things are at stake in the Senate investigations and the independent commission; the people of the Philippines want the names of politicians involved, and we'll know it on today's resumption of the hearing.

The Senate president made a revelation that will put two of their colleague in the spotlight because of the exposé of his cohorts. I'm looking forward to reviewing this evidence and determining if it's strong enough to warrant a prosecution.

The two suspected lamakers keep denying their involvement. We’ll find out this week whether they can defend themselves when all the evidence comes to light. Two years from now is another election. I hope they stop voting for substandard politicians.

In one deal alone it already reached P355 million, and that’s not even the full picture. billions get allocated every year but the situation never changes, still the same floods, the same broken homes, the same useless projects. now they’re saying there could be dozens of ghost projects too, money gone and nothing ever built.

How long will this cycle continue? funds meant to save lives end up stolen, and people are left with nothing but empty promises.

It’s really everywhere, corrupt politicians who never think for the good of the people they were meant to serve but rather how to grow their personal wealth and fill their pockets for generations with funds derived from public wealth.

Somehow, they never learn, even with what did happen in Nepals recently where a protest went out of hand with public buildings burnt, politicians and their families hurt and more. It does come to that and when the suffering of the people are not looked into in times like these, it provokes some revoke.

This is a sad reality for Philippines. It’s like the people have been extremely taken advantage from their own taxes not only because they are blinded by it, but because even the country’s president itself allowed it to happen. I doubt if there’ll be politicians involved that will be given proper sanction, because otherwise, there’ll be a lot of government positions that will be left empty simply because, almost all of the high politicians are actually receiving like 30% commissions from flood control projects and other ghost projects that are readily planned.

Indonesia and Nepal have done their part to fight corruption through brutal protests. But many of us are just lurkers and watching it out because they hold the military and the Philippine national police. The situation here is different, these crocs(corrupt) are not scared of the people because they have the swindled money from our taxes and they'll just bribe anyone who'll fight against them. Like now, the investigation is going through with the house of representatives and the senate. But these two are independent bodies and doing their own thing with their way. It's sad that there's a change quickly with the leadership in the senate when the proponents, Discayas have already exposed a lot of names. Many lives are struggling and even lost when floods have come, it's not like this before when budget for flood controls have spent properly.

Protests in Indonesia were indeed brutal and full of anarchy and ended in looting and burning of assets of officials and legislators. But in my opinion the demonstrations / protests failed because nothing changed significantly, in fact the demonstrations almost brought Indonesia to a state of national martial law, which for Indonesian citizens is more frightening because the Indonesian national army will take over (dominate), remembering the era of the Old Order regime (Soeharto) who ruled for 32 years. Soeharto became the first most corrupt figure in the world followed by President Ferdinand Marcos in second place.
I thought that our former dictator was the most corrupt and so, there's someone who comes in the first place and that's Soeharto. It's because that they're part of the guiness book of world record's for being the most stolen IIRC. And the protests also happened on Sunday in different parts of our center in Metro Manila and it's shown our government that the people are united about what we want to do and that's to make the corrupt officials accountable of the money they've stolen from the flood control projects. But to be honest, there's someone who's at the top of these officials that have allowed it because all budgets will go through him before being passed as a law and without him signing it, it won't be allocated and yes, that's our president now.

I am not really that shocked. I do not know much about Philippines but I do know about politicians and I can guarantee you that everyone wets their beak, no matter which nation you are in. Sometimes it's money directly like this, sometimes it's power, sometimes it's favours. No matter who you are or what you do, we are talking about something that is getting results that ends with corruption.

These people just do what they do and nothing changes about it. We should consider doing some cleanse, and keep the politicians in check and make sure they are not getting richer off us, but we always fail. This is why when corruption becomes big enough, some nations end up with riots and rebellions that makes it a lot harder for these corrupt people get away with their wealth.

so the news here is crazy again, flood control projects that’s supposed to protect people from disaster turns out to be another source of corruption.
When corruption becomes excessive, there will be reforms. The Philippine government has been involved in corruption to such an extent that their time is coming to an end. Because if the level of corruption increases, it will never be permanent. Of course, there will be movements, and the lives of ordinary people will be lost, but this situation will definitely improve. We have seen in the past few days that a country's government had to give up its power due to corruption. In the Philippines too, allegations of this corruption have been raised for a long time. If they cannot learn from the situation of others, then disaster is inevitable for them.

We've been exploited by these politicians. If we don't pay taxes on time, we'll have a case and that's tax evasion. While these corrupt politicians, they've got the taxpayers money and then they have no taxes to pay from that money. I agree that there is a root that someone allowed it to happen and that's the president himself. And with all of the investigations that are happening, it leads to different names and so he can be clean together with his cousin that just resigned as the house speaker. It's funny that their names are being protected where in fact, it won't happen if did vetoed the last year's budget hearing.
