Where do you learn about Crypto Security??

This forum is a place of learning, ever since I joined the bitcointalk forum have already gone wild in terms of tech experience and stuff like that, have learned so many things I wasn't aware of all my life , however so many scam experience and thought have been share in various forum topics and through it have gained knowledge about how this scammers operates.

Furthermore, scammers only take advantage when you're ignorant of their activity, you aren't sensitive enough to know how they carry out their fraudulent activities that's when you fall victim, but if you are experienced enough to be able to identify them when sported then you are no go area.

Op, nice one. You know, when you talk about security learning in the forum, I would say I don't know anything about it, because I have paid a lot of money to many strangers, or let me say scammers, just to learn about crypto or some online investment and was eventually scammed. But after joining this forum, I became wiser and smarter, because this forum has opened up my eyes very well as a newbie in the crypto space. This is a citadel of learning. I have learnt a lot here, and I will keep on searching to acquire knowledge here as a newbie. Regarding the security aspect of cryptocurrency, the basics, the background and the cautions in crypto transactions, the P2P scammers and more, I learnt everything here. I just have a belief that one day I will also become a Bitcoin or cryptocurrency expert here,as such, I will continue learning and studying here in the forum...Well, thank God for this forum.

Yea, Fraudsters truly develop quickly, and social tricks, rather than technical tricks, are used to incur most of the losses. In my case the best place to uncover scams is Bitcointalk as its members tend to report them before they go viral. On the Internet I check r/cryptoscams on Reddit to find real user experiences, Chainalysis Blog to learn more about the evolution of scams, and Ledger Academy to learn the basics of wallet security.

Slowing down is one of the practises that are most beneficial. Frauds tend to make things a priority hence when a person exercises the habit of checking links twice and never responding to unsolicited direct messages, then you have already avoided most of the traps.

The first thing about anyone Nigerian who dey this our crypto currency hustle na to get better information about Bitcoin because as the saying goes knowledge is power so any one who is into crypto currency must be always vigilant and stay updated with the lastest news and information about crypto currency because one thing that I have seen is that these scammers don't slack as they always stay ahead of others that is why they can be able to scam other people who are not well updated. People should always read news related to crypto currency and this forum is one place that people can rely on because there are different members with different levels of information which they share with other members of the forum to help them stay informed.

I'm surprised to see some persons who have been in the forum for a long term are depending on other sources to keep their assets safe from scammers when there is a lot of helpful information in the forum that can easily help them to achieve this easily. Well, this forum has opened my eyes how to safeguard my assets from scammers, and I don't need other sources to learn how to do that because there are a lot of helpful threads in the forum where we can learn about how to protect our assets from scammers.

OP I think you really need to be careful with some of this site because scammers are coming up with new tricks every day. They can decide to build the kind of site you just mentioned , just to trick people into visiting those site in other for then to become vulnerable to attacks. So it will be best if you stick to the forum. I believe there are threads in the forum that do talk scams and cyber related issues.

Most of the knowledge about crypto security that I know today was learned from this forum, I started off just being concerned about earning or investing into altcoins and then Bitcoin, I didn't even know the risk involved in holding your assets on a centralized exchange and also the needs to have to private keys or secret phrase being backup offline on multiple places. All those knowledge was gain here on the forum, so I would recommend the forum to anyone because it was also of help to me.

Yes ooh it's very very important for us to be security conscious especially when it get to do with money.

 Just like many have just said here,base on their different experience about the scammers,to be honest with you this scammer are upgrading on daily basis because that is what they specialize on,to scam people is their job and the go extra mile to make sure they confuse you and made away with your hard earning money.

So one needs to be extra careful even though we can't be too careful ,but we must try our best to do what we can to secure our assets ,so what I'm saying is that, whenever you receive any messages that you have never seen, please don't be in hurry to click on it, again always read every information or message thoroughly,do not rush it,any whenever someone chatted you and asking you for money please always call the person and hear from him or her and confirm that its him or her before making any transfer ,i think the latest one now is hacking of WhatsApp number and some many other ways which you can't even count,in terms of Bitcoin assets please be very careful while making a transaction online and mind what you click on,not every link you see you click on it,any link sent to you, try to verify it first before clicking on it..i am new into Bitcoin and i learnt that it's not good for us to save our seed phrase on our phone, that we should keep always keep it secret.

The place I have learnt about security the most is in the beginner and help board of the forum where various types of scam attempts are posted regularly. In the same boards, different malwares and breaches are usually posted and from those post, I have learnt alot about how to protect myself and my data. There are other places where security were extensively dealt which have also helped me on remaining protected.

I find this forum to be the safest place to get all the information related to crypto. It gives me ideas not only about crypto but also about the kind of security required to store it and how scammers can attack a person. The biggest advantage is that here a person can directly talk about his problems and get live support. There may be other sites where information can be found but through this forum we can get information at the same time. I think this is the best place to learn details about crypto and its security.

Already I got knowledge about Bitcoin and cryptos first before joining this forum, but part of the knowledges I got about security is on this forum, plus personal researching. if you can't take the security of your funds very seriously so who's then and what else would you take seriously?

 I think it is common knowledge that scammers are evolving every single day and as such they come up with new ways to scam people of their hard earned money... with this in mind, I am quite very interested in the resources that have helped you stay ahead of these scammers. This can be a website, youtube channel, or even a specific community or a page you follow on social media... I really think this will help not just me but also other members of the forum to get the necessary information about new scam techniques..

 I will say that this forum has really done a great job so far so it is worth a mention... Other platforms i use are Binance Blog and Certik Blog.. you can add them to yours and check them out.

Most security measures i have learnt about to apply in the crypto space has been mostly from this channel, actually at the retail level where we are trading and investing small volumes, you do not need any complex security measures to get your funds safe, what you will be needing the most will be the basic protection of access to your device and your passwords or secret phrase, it is mostly at the institutional levels where you may be needing those complex security measures that will likely require you to go through some teachings to protect the account and the funds in it.

Mostly what you should do is very simple, to protect your assets,
1. Do not store your assets on an exchange, be it a centralized or decentralized exchange, never trust any so much to store your assets on such platform.
2. Do not expose your passwords or seed phrase or secret keys to any one or any third party platforms.
3. Do not link your wallets to platforms you do not trust, and if possible do not link your wallet to any platform at all, avoid any platform that mostly require you to link your wallets to their platform and if you must, make sure you get a totally different wallet to do that an not with the wallet on which you store your coins.
4. Always use a noncustodial wallet or a cold storage to store your coins or assets
5. If possible, use a different device away from the device you use for your day to day activities so you do not click links that redirects to your wallet or get bugs that later helps get your device and wallet compromised.

these are the few tips i can share since i do not have any you tube or outside channel of reference for you to go get security information, here on this thread and other thread on this forum is another source where you can get the best measure so you need not go any far.

What you have to know is that being in this forum does not mean that you are conversant with various topics or discussions concerning security of ones asset. Besides, there are some people that specializes on some specific boards which means they might not come across topics in other boards. For example the technical discussion board, users rarely go there to make posts because of the technical discussions there so let's assume that there is a helpful thread concerning how to secure one's asset there, it means you might not be able to get the knowledge since you don't navigate towards that section. Of course the forum has different topics concerning security and how to keep our asset safe from scammers so the advice should be that anyone who wants to know anything concerning how to secure their assets, they should visit the beginners and help section of the forum and create a thread, users might direct him to some links that would be very helpful.

There are many posts on the forum about crypto security, you can read them if you want. Hackers always look for your ignorance and weak spots, so never be passive. Always try to be active.
