I actually wasn't surprised anymore by this. I'm more surprised a few months ago when an odds shows who might be the next pope since most of us know that in gambling is taboo in most of the religion and yet gambling sites do have an odds on this, though it's purely business I was just thinking if a religious person who gambles do place bet in this event.

Not many gambling sites who provide betting for these categories that because in the gambling world usually the bettors only interested to bets on sport betting or playing at casinos games that's why some of the bookies skipped this events because this is not too popular to bets compared to sport events

If i am not mistaken last year stake.com have provide the bets for Grammy and Oscar but for this year i didn't really sure this feature is still available or not in this site and for me personally i am not the fans of television serial so i didn't following who is popular actress and actor that's why i never interested to bets on these annual award

If I'm not mistaken, we have one member that might be interested in this kind of betting, @bbc_reporter, correct me if I'm wrong mate.

But in my case, done are my days of watching good TV's, I'm more on the social media now. That's how I found the latest news and everything. But I still believed that there are members who might be very interested and betting on this kind of awards.

Perhaps their experience watching TV might be a big help for them on who to bet and their chances are high obvious.

betting on shows like the Emmys is not that common but prediction markets kind of make it possible. people who still watch TV series always have an advantage because they know which shows are popular and well rated. i don’t really watch TV that much anymore, i just get news from social media at least that is way faster this days. but i think real fans who follow many shows can guess the winners better than random betters. at the same time!! award shows can be unpredictable because judges don’t always pick the most popular shows, sometimes they go for the ones with strong acting or storyteling even if fewer people watch them. that is why betting on awards is more about knowledge and luck combined together.

I didn't know that they bet on television shows but what can I say, if people can bet on presidential elections and a whole lot of other stuff I think this should also be available on that poly market. But betting on shows like the Emmys isn't something I have seen people do because it's not really common. But I've seen bets on the Oscar awards, bet awards and so on. These awards are too risky to bet on

Am not a little surprised, for sure people do nearly bet on things having outcomes they are not sure about, even prediction do thrive with that. The Emmys can seem  niche, yet followers on TV mostly feel there is an edge in predicting winners. I didn't bet on it personally yet I do see appeals for those combining love of TV shows having a little of wagering.

People bet on everything these days so it's really not a surprise. They're betting on coin flips in the superbowl, the color of gatorade that will be dumped on the winning team, cock fighting, cockroach racing, dog fights, elections, and all sorts of other obscure things. If there is interest, there will be betting on it.

Yeah the Emmys award has come and gone and don't think I'm surprised about it, though people bets on things as this but i don't find it thrilling so i don't even after seeing the prediction markets. I barely bets on such i presume it as irrelevant that notwithstanding betting brings in much fun but then i find it so hard to involve inTV shows and all that.

Nowadays, people bet on things that are even scary. I've seen people betting on how many deaths there will be in event X or Z. I've seen people betting on whether or not there will be a storm in place X or Z. I've seen people betting on whether there will be a war in place X or Z. Honestly, everything has become a reason for people to place bets. That's why I'm not surprised that people bet on the Television Awards. I personally wouldn't bet because I don't know the lives of singers and TV presenters well.

Fun fact, I didn't even know what's up with the Emmys until I read this post... Is that even a thing?? Uhhrgg!
A number of events are usually included by the bookies; some even feel more weird to bet on than this... Imagine having to predict who will release the next nuclear weapon and to whom it will be on? They don't even care about the mass destruction, so for any big scene on the news, a speculation theory is made for people who are curious to make money off of anything.

I did not... I simply don't find it as interesting as betting on sports or political events. Besides, there is a very uncomfortable reality, there sre people who may have privileged information on who is going to be the winner within each category before it gets publicly announced to the public, so there is more chance for manipulation of markets than sports and political events.

Instead of looking for those kinds of events, I am looking towards to betting on the next football world cup instead. Just my personal thoughts.

In this era of the internet and easy accessibility, anything and everything can be bet on, as long as the platform sees that there is a growing interest in that subject, so nothing is new.
People have bet on the new Pope, on wars, on the president, or just about anything. Prediction markets are profit-generating companies that serve their players' interests.
No, I didn't bet on it. It's not part of my interests. Some movies that won Emmys are in the drama genre, which isn't my thing.

Catholics are actually not very good followers. They drink. They gossip. They gamble. Even though these are frowned upon. They just hide it. So I would not be surprised if some of them did. There are more surprising events that got bets on like wars or natural disasters. It shows lack of sympathy that is why it is so surprising.

I prefer watching local movies and series, so I have no interest in betting on this category. However, they do have a market even outside the US.

You generally wont find people betting about the Oscars or Emmys on Gambling websites. Those are usually for sports betting. For events such as those you should just go to Polymarket. They pretty much bet on anything including sports and even some crypto events like "Bitcoin up or down in the next 60 minutes".

They even have some crazy markets like "What temperature will be in New York or London today" and other ones such as "How much money will the premier of some movie" be. Whatever you can think of and create a market its generally on poly market.

If people could bet on who will become the next pope, bet on who they think will win the US presidency, bet one which country between Russia and Ukraine, which will win their war and so on and on, what then is television awards that people shouldn't be betting on as well?

I would have been very much more surprised if there was no one betting on such events at all, this is very unlikely judging from the the type of world we now live in, every one is seizing every available opportunity to try to profit from their money to the extent they can do anything, bet on any thing so long as profit is to be made.
Apart from online betting which sometimes, may be difficult to find a betting site that covers events like this, there are still those who does their betting offline, they bet via person to person or group to group.

I'm not a fan of television awards, but it doesn't surprise me that there's a gambling market for this. There's betting on practically everything--sports, showbiz, science, politics, beauty pageants, and so on.

The issue with events like this is that there are members who already know the results even before the winners are proclaimed. It isn't as fair as sports or even politics. In sports, teams and players have to play it out to win. Unless there's fixing involved, which happens very seldom, it's fair play.

I never bet on things like the Emmys, Oscars, Eurovision, or similar events... I mean, once upon a time, I probably placed a bet or two just to give it a try. Winners are chosen based on taste (correct me if I am wrong). There's a jury or public voting, but either way, my taste is a "bit" different. Most of those movies or songs don't appear to me, and the ones I actually like almost never win any awards.
