1% of income is quite normal, I personally sometimes spend 5-10% of my income, because the income in my country is quite small, if I only put in 1% it seems like I'm just playing and then leaving, because it's only $1-3 from 1% of my income, that's why I spend more but I've managed my finances as best as possible so as not to exceed 10%
I, like you, think that spending 1% of your funds on something you enjoy, like gambling, is perfectly normal. It's not mandatory, so it's only an occasional thing. Setting limits is a good idea, as it minimizes the risk of significant losses. You should maintain that limit.
I personally set a limit of 5%. The point is, avoid excessive gambling, which could negatively impact me and others.

Though, we are talking about macro-economics, not about personal finances. In terms of personal finances, it is very conservative to gambler only one percent of one's income, but that number could represent a huge amount of money if we talk about the whole spending of the gambling population of a country, take for example the nation of Nigeria, where there are millions of gamblers. It is literally a nation of gamblers, so in that context, one percent if money money than a country with relatively small percentage of gamblers like Sweden.

Correct. It’s a small percentage that is normal for gambling application and in fact it’s very conservative percentage.

The article makes the value exaggerated by totaling it but in reality it’s just a normal expenses of each person on gambling.

Agreed. A 1% of rich country is sometimes equal to higher percentage of lower class country if we will just talk about the amount.

yep, this thread isn't a personal percentage, but rather a percentage of gambling expenditure within a single country. This can be averaged out by calculating nationally. If we try to calculate evenly, excluding those under 18, based on data from this websites, the average amount spent by Swedish citizens is €296 per person per year, or €24.67 per month. Of course, this isn't just data for active gamblers, as I don't have the data for that. This is a global average, including those who don't gamble.

Hopefully it can help @Dr. Osh to understand too Smiley
