How do I make Bisq Easy stop running in the background?

Sometimes when my battery is low, I do not need the app to be continuously downloading data or maintaining the Tor connection.

I don't to continue "force stopping" the app from Android's activitymanager.

If you can not find an option in the application itself, I believe you can limit its background activity from the phone settings.  There should be a setting called 'battery optimization' or similar to that.  I can not remember if this was in the Battery settings menu or in Permissions.

I believe the phone then limits background activity when it needs more resources, such as more battery time due to low battery percentage or needs more RAM for multi tasking et cetera while allowing background activity when it is doing all right.

A few days ago Bisq was hit by the negative‑miner‑fee-exploit that resulted in the theft of around 11 BTC. They are preparing the hot‑fix release, so it’s wise to avoid using this platform for trading ^{on either Android or desktop} until things settle. In addition, users are advised not to keep more BTC in their Bisq wallets than necessary.

The exploit only affected the bitcoin that was part of open trades and ongoing deals. It didn't impact the security and user funds held in Bisq's non-custodial wallets. If it did, we would have to question its non-custodial nature and/or the entropy used in key generation. Bisq would then be an unsafe system we shouldn't recommend to anyone. Luckily, that's not the case.

Honestly I like Bisq, but if it doesn't have offers for the currency pair I need then it's not really useful for me. Probably going to end up deleting the app 

But if you need like Revolut/Paypal or some SEPA transfer in EUR then this is the way to go.

Noones has much more offers and pairs, but they're advertising a bit too loudly and they are getting themselves shadowbanned by government ISPs.

I don’t care about any pair other than BTC/EUR because I use bisq solely to sell my Bitcoin and receive EUR in my Wise account. This setup is quite convenient for me, as it hides my crypto related activity from Wise and also gives me the opportunity to sell slightly above market price  ^{you can often find buyers on bisq who value privacy and urgently need BTC}.

Big Bisq Easy release v0.7.0 arrived today, improving record-keeping and trade management on mobile ^{regarding searchable history, CSV export, etc}, as well as compatibility and security thanks to Bisq core upgrade. They claym  that both  the general stability and bug fixes further polish UX and invite users to check this and report any noticable issue directly to them.

Bisq Connect received the significant update  today with the release of v0.5.0. The new version introduces trade history with browsing, searching, and filtering of past trades, ^{like  reorganized trades UI split into Open and History tabs}, improved push notifications on Android, and a new  distribution channel for iOS users in the EU and Japan.

 All of these is built on top of the updated Bisq2 core 2.1.11.

I installed on my phone and it shows v0.7.0. You can check for newest update.

But I wonder how long the "Requesting initial network data" will finish because I open the app for 5 minutes but that still not end.

I also don't see Offerbook on my local currency or something wrong happens?



I can test the feature buying for small amount and the minimum amount is $6.21 equal Rp 110.000 but I am not complete the transaction.

It'll take a few minutes but it shouldn't take an hour to sync.
It just took about 3minutes in my test.

But to be sure, are seeing some number in "connected peers" in your home tab?
If there's none, there may be a connection issue.
If there's no issue, it should be synced by now if you didn't close it when you posted that reply.

Most likely this message appears because your Bisq2 desktop node is not fully synchronized, so your mobile app is waiting for relevant data from the node. First check whether the node is running at all, then wait until it is fully synchronized  ^{this may take some time because your node connects to  Bisq network via Tor, and such connections are commonly slower than expected} and after that relaunch your app.

I restart the app and yes, I see 10 connected peers then change into 9 and then 7-8 connected peers in my home tab and 480 offers online and still changing. But the requesting initial network data running for almost 5 minutes.

Now, it is fully sync and run properly but I don't see offers in my local. It seems many countries are 0 offers especially on the Asian offers.

And yeah, seeing zero offers when selecting some local currencies is normal since this platform isn't famous in certain regions.
You don't have to wait for others to post an offer though, you can open your own BUY offer(s) if you want to try it.
Posting SELL offers on the other hand, needs a bit of reputation.

I had to reopen mine 4 times today before i could access it.. it got stucked 3 times, not sure if it was from my side but it accessible now.

Tried posting a BUY offer some months back but got zero clicks for my country, i don’t think people really use it that much in mine currently.

Everyone seem fine with the working CEX making it hard if you really want to..large percentage don’t even understand how they can properly make use of decentralization.

Don't know if its related to the mentioned "performance improvements" in this update,
But the app now can finish that "Requesting Initial Network Data" that's discussed earlier in just a few seconds now, compared to a few minutes before.
(consistent 10~20sec at my end)

All of the above is because you run Bisq Easy rather than Bisq Connect.

Those are two separate apps that serve the same purpose when installed on mobile, i.e., P2P trading on Bisq 2 network. But they work differently. Bisq Connect is ^{in fact} a thin client to  backend Bisq 2 node, which must run either on your desktop or  VPS. Contrary to this, Bisq Easy is a self-contained phone app that incorporates its own node ^{with the entire Tor + P2P bundle}  to run on its own. So Bisq Easy requires both more hardware resources and bandwidth, meaning your connectivity may be interrupted if those factors are poor in your setup.

BTW, Bisq Easy has been updated to v0.8.0, so you might want to upgrade, since it includes some improvements, including ones relevant to the node component. But if your hardware is a bit outdated and/or your available bandwidth isn't wide enough, Bisq Connect would be the better choice, but ^{at least} with one trade-off, namely, you need to run  Bisq 2 node externally.

Yes I run the bisq easy on my android.. I installed it almost immediately it was launched, i never installed the connect though.

I’m currently on v 0.7.0.. updated though but I tested it before installing the new 0.8.0 and it got stucked on 30% while starting Tor. Same thing happened with 0.8.0 so I think you’re right on that aspect you mentioned.
