Share your favorite long-term coins and why

In my book. There's only one good coin for long term and that is bitcoin. Altcoin is for money flipping.
My portfolio as of now is 90% made of bitcoin and the remaining 10% I use for future trade as a margin for altcoin trading. Literally just flipping altcoin never holding it at all. I don't think it's worth it at this current time.

Just hold bitcoin and buy the dip. Forget about ethereum and solana that sits at exact price like 5 years ago.

BTC and ETH, are my safe bet. Why not ?
Look at BTCD. BTC dominates the whole market and It is the digital gold. BTC brought billions through ETFs and People trust BC with their Money.
People invest into BTC and consider Btc as asset , cause people have lost their trust on their Fiats, central currencies.

If BTC is the digital gold , Eth is the digital silver. I have been in crypto for years now. I have learnt that put some funds in stable, some in alts like top 10 alts and big chunk into BTC. Thats it

^  Good choices.    You could never go wrong with choosing the majors in your portfolio.  You could even add SOL too and give it a little variety. 

But yeah, as for me I think the rise of the perp DEX's will accrue long term value and take away a huge part of the volume from CEX's.  So it might be a good idea to hold things like HYPE and the other emerging tokens behind perp DEX's...

The emerging ones are Lighter, Variational, 01.xyz, Ethereal and Ambient.  Pretty sure there are more out there.

Bitcoin, ethereum, Solana, Doge and Shiba, i chose them because they have been part of my watch list, not only that, they have past records of consistencies, that when invested, we will have no cause for alarm worrying about how they could perform or cause fear on us for missing out.

Obviously Ethereum for me in altcoin space, as number one altcoin it is the king of altcoins and with a possibility of pool staking it also gives you more eth to just hold eth which is  great advantage when you consider eth to be a great project that goes up long term.

Secondly would be SOL because of the ecosystem it built, while it is true that its not looking good right now, what does? When market was moving SOL moved with it and was hyped a lot so I love that too. These two are the only ones I can suggest, rest of my portfolio is too risky to suggest.

Even so, I am staying positive. I believe this is just a phase and the market will recover. Bitcoin is still above the important 98k level, so I am still building my bags. I already have my plan in place. I will join giveaways, enter trading club challenges that are not too hard, keep improving my trading bots, and continue collecting coins I believe in for the long run like ZEC, TAO, SOL, BGB, and ZEN.

It may feel tough right now, but times like these can be good chances to prepare for the next move up. How are you dealing with this dip?

When the bear market is indeed a good momentum for us to buy some altcoins at a discounted price and then hold them until the market recovers, but my advice is not to just buy without doing research first because not all altcoins can survive the market decline, maybe only a few coins that have strong fundamentals such as Eth and Sol can recover their prices after the market has improved, especially so far these two coins have been proven to be able to survive the bear market in the previous year so I suggest you should just focus on collecting Sol coins because only Sol coins look more promising than the five coins on your list.

Love the first two as you won't be making a mistake holding those.  But keep in mind they're for less risk and protecting your stack rather than taking on more risk to get a tenner or something.  But for DOGE and SHIBA...  Mmm, I think just skip those, esp SHIBA. 

I guess DOGE could be at times the beta play for BTC when BTC is trending up.  But even then just skip it.  And I don't think memecoins will be get huge interest for the next couple of years after how a lot of people got broke last year.  So much grift happened on 2024.  Lol.  That's gonna get called out asap.

I was losing in EOS few years ago and some other altcoins. Holding feels like futile and that taught me that altcoin come and go. Holding for long term is bad decision.
Everybody can replicate PoS based altcoin with minimal effort, just hire professional validator and you're set but replicating bitcoin's proof of work will take too much resources.

That's why bitcoin is the only best coin to hold.

For now, it's true that if you already have tokens, it's better to hold them. Considering that prices are currently falling, while waiting for them to rise, it's better to hold them, especially those that are in the top 50 on CMC.

In my opinion, even if you want to hold them, you have to be selective and not haphazard. There are plenty of new ones, but most of them are junk and useless. If you've already focused on one, like you said with BTC, it's best to continue accumulating if you have more funds.

With altcoins, it's possible, but it can take a long time, even if the token has a good history. If not, your money will sink and disappear, leaving only the token value stuck in your investment account/wallet.

Bitcoin is a a safe bet for long term in this crypto world but if you you think that this crypto can grow bigger than bitcoin and not limited to bitcoin only, this is where I think the project Celestia $tia is revolution into crypto world.
The celestia achivement is good as promised in roadmap and they achieve the high throughput through DA layer and proves it's working
The DAS technology is revolution and can grow bigger and real solution to the adoption of crypto

The coin that deserves to be trusted is of course Bitcoin, it is indisputable, but because this is posted on the altcoin board, of course, the altcoin in question as far as ii in reading the altcin market is relatively disadvantageous in the long run, especially in a very large number of coins with a continuous inflation mechanism, very little demand and continues to decline over time so that it never prints new ATH again after the initial release of their altcoin or after the hypenya has burst the bubble.

I don't hold much in the altcoin project, only BNB and stable coins, it's just for farming interest in the protocol or on binance staking this is my alternative, and one more XAUT as one of my alternative forms of investment in crypto, even though this coin represents gold, but it's the same as RWA in tokenization that people rarely realize about XAUT, this year XAUT is giving a very high return too.

That's the right thing to do. Unfortunately 99% of coin just dumped few months after listing. It's really bad with altcoin that the chance you are making money from holding altcoin within 1 year is close to zero.
When the market just give an altcoin that lost its 95% of value few weeks after it get listed in the exchange, it's not a fair market. It's market that is full of extraction from the bigger manipulators and not worth it anymore.

At that point, bitcoin is the only investment that make sense. At this point, better off investing in something else like gold and stocks even, instead of losing our money in altcoin.

November did not start well for crypto. The market dropped, Bitcoin fell below 100k for the first time since June, and SOL and BGB also moved down with everything else. The only strong spot right now seems to be privacy coins like ZEC, which are still holding up and doing well.

Did you know (Zcash) Zec all-time high? Zec all-time high was $5940 many years ago. What is Zec price as of today? Zec price as of today is $433.

Compare its all-time high to its price today and compare it with bitcoin.

Some coins cn heve a short time moment but later fall than expected. I will not be surprised if I see Zec fall again so significantly.

I do not trust any altcoins.

After any Altcoin comes into the market, the price increases by a small amount and that is for a short time. And then the price gradually decreases completely, but Bitcoin comes into the cryptocurrency market with a small price at the beginning and later with time there is a huge price increase. So only Bitcoin is suitable for long-term holding, only Bitcoin is the most trusted in the cryptocurrency market and it has gained trust all over the world. If you see, then of course it will gain more trust in the future and the price will increase.

I have a number of old existing coins or tokens that I will always cherish their relevance and adopt them as necessary whenever am being much privileged of doing so, I have the likes of ethereum, Solana, doge, bonk, floki, Shiba, cake and so many others, because I've found out that they are projects that have a long lasting durability and can be profitable the more in the future if invested now or during the best market.

Exactly. If we want to choose a long term altcoin, choose one that has a long track record in the market. I would most likely choose Ethereum and Solana because they have mature ecosystems and a strong foundation, both in terms of innovative vision and continuously evolving technology, not just community hype. For Doge, Shiba, and others like you mentioned above, they still rely on community and virality, but they lack significant technical innovation. They don't have an innovative roadmap like Ethereum or Solana, so the risk of long-term losses is higher.

Yes, you are right that the current price drop is the right opportunity for the next move. Buying and holding top coins including SOL, BNB would be the ideal decision now. We saw a big bull market in the month before November but the market has not yet risen, which could be a sign that we may see another run in the next months.

I am buying Bitcoin long term from the bear market as well as holding small amounts of top altcoins for short term profit. I am accumulation altcoins for different maturities instead of saving fiat to implement the plan.

With all the drama that I have seen and come across with altcoins movement I don't think it's a good idea to actually choose a coin which no record of success in the aspect of its movement and that's why if am to choose I believe the two coin you have choose would also be my choice although I might add BNB coin too, I don't know but I kinda like the movement of the this binance Smart chain coin and of recently it's movement upwards have also shown great prospects too.

I am also like that, I am now starting to think about accumulating more BNB compared to Ethereum or Solana because I think the strong community of BNB allows this coin to continue to grow in the future, especially from what we saw some time ago when the movement of BNB was increasing, even in percentage terms it was higher than Ethereum or Solana, so I think the same thing will be possible in the future.
