How long did it take you to really “get” how Bitcointalk works?

I don't know how many months or years it will take me to understand how this Bitcointalk forum work. Even the rules am seeing in this Bitcointalk forum is too much for users, well I don't know the reason they established the rules for users to follow. Am still studying the Bitcointalk forum.

How long did it take you guys to actually feel like you fully understood how the forum works?

Some months (close to a year). I was faced with evil fee ban and I refused to make any payment because I was sure I did not commit any evil. So, I nearly lost hope until I understood that some reputable members of the group could whitelist anyone without having them to pay. So, I saw the names of the white Listers, and decided to go with Upgrade00 because of his username. So, he upgraded (whitelisted) me and I started using the forum, the rest is history.

It took me a while to fully understand how things work here. When I first registered here, I had to take my time to read threads one after the other. I look out for the forum pinned threads that contain rules and policies, which I learned from. Although it took me time to fully understand and get things clear here, but all the same, I  was able to scale through the hurdles, and here I am today still learning and growing, as it is a continuous process that one must learn something new every day.

It doesn't matter how long it took you to familiarize yourself with how the forum works, you will get along as time goes on and that is if you are very consistent in learning a new thing about the forum each day. There are things that am still getting to know in the forum recently even after i have spent 2 years here so as time goes you will learn new stuffs that will help you while navigating through the forum. However, if you are new into bitcoin you will find it difficult to make posts in bitcoin discussion threads but all you need to do is to learn till you can be able to make posts in those threads.

What it takes is one who real is in Bitcointalk for bitcoin and its talk and not for ulterior motives, once you realize that it’s an amazing place to build basic knowledge of bitcoin, crypto at large then you have nothing much to think or feel difficulty in the forum but yet I’m still not convinced the topic is with a clear intention either, because some members are pointing at you suspiciously hence it’s normal to even learn the forum without asking such questions yet reading and observing is valid.

I was already used to forums by time I came here, so it didn't really take much time as in basic use, but I do continue to learn about new features as I continue to use, like even after 8 years, I only learned recently that 'yellow stone face' is sign that user have posted already in the topic.

I still don't understand that dt thing, so I don't use it

Understanding how bitcointalk works is not that difficult, it's either you're being told and you made the discovery by yourself, which either of the ways may take you a month or even more before you get used to the forum, provided that the knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrency were there already, but when a newbie arrived this forum without a background knowledge of bitcoin, crypto and the forum, it takes months for them to get used to these, also, it depends on fast such person was able to relate with the forum tools in learning on every aspects, if being active and willing to learn, this may not take much longer, at some point, most of us were the same way a newbie before becoming so used to the forum.

Just calm down. It took alot of us some time too to be able to understand this forum. Many of us during our early days had to stick around a few boards we found more comfortable to interact in. While still there, we gradually extended to other boards; learning and unlearning till we found ourselves where we are right now

You can't learn everything in one day. It might take you years, it doesn't make you less a participant of these forum. People adapt differently, just be you and learn at your own pace.

Consistency, steady engagement and patience is all you need. It won't take long before you get acquainted with those rules and when you do you will also discover they were not established to make the forum hostile but to keep things orderly and also protect the interest of forum members. We all had had similar experience when we all started but over time everything became clearer and we now navigate the forum with so much confidence.

I have been here for few years and have not still understood everrything about the forum.

How long it will take you to learn the basics of the forum will depend on the number of hours you can dedicate to the forum and your commitment. If you spend just few minutes weekly, it might take a longer period. If you can spend sometime to scan through and read the information in the forum, you will get used to this platform faster. Visiting the beginners and help sections and reading through the pinned messages could also be helpful.

At the start I didn’t really understand the whole merit and ranking thing, or how some boards are way more active than others. Slowly getting there though, just takes some time I guess.

It's not really easy here ,mostly to us the newbies, everything looks so strange and confusing,even though I know that i haven't spent one year here but with the few months I have been here ,could you believe that I am still finding it difficult to understand some many things about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges in general, and I have tried so many ways to make it so easy for me to understand but I find out that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges in general are very strong projects that has to do with one's intelligence and it's something that requires time patient.so now i have come to understand that the best way to understand everything about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency exchanges  better and faster is being consistent, slow and steady and one day it will be a past story to us like other members..


And mind you that every member of the forum pass through this primary goal before becoming whatever they are today and that gives me a strong believe that one day I will also be like them as long as I am consistent and industrious towards it..

I don't have serious plans on the forum at first, because when I open the forum, I realized this isn't my field and I won't be suitable here to stay for long so I just get active whenever I want to but most of the time I ignore the forum. Until such time I realized instead of doing nothing, why not just explore the forum slowly. So it really took almost a year before I finally understand the whole point of this forum and how it works. What makes it good here is that, you don't stop learning but you keep on growing everyday with new significant ideas and valuable insights.

Now, I'm loving the forum and get excited what's store for me in the next days, months and years. Having a great amount of income is a big bonus.

Honestly, I had to close my tap the very first time I opened Bitcointalk, and I didn't return until 2 weeks later. On returning, I took my time to read each section of the forum and how people do here. I late located the unofficial forum rules and I was lucky to come across the ranking page as well, which I couldn't remember how anymore.

After a while, I got acquainted with the forum, but the evil tag became a problem before I got someone to eventually whitelist me. That's when I got serious with the forum.

Everything has to do with learning and how committed we are to the forum, because this platform is also a big community which we may also need more time to explore, though it's not challenging to that extent that we can't afford to bear, because learning is a process and how determined we are towards getting used to it will depend on how fast we could achieve our aims towards learning how it works, we'd better start preparing on how we could help the situation for ourselves by reading to know more of what we don't have idea on.

You are just barely 50 days old on this forum, and it is absolutely okay to be confused how the entire forum works as a complete newbie who is just getting aquinted to it's interface. So in such scenario, my advice to newbies have always been to focus on the side of the forum which they have knowledge of it best, such as the gambling board for gamblers, or the politics and society board for people who don't have knowledge about Bitcoin and also gambling, because at least they should have knowledge about what is happening in the society and be able to contribute to discussion. Because if you want to wait until you have a complete knowledge about how the entire forum works, it might take you a very long time. Hence, it's good to learn gradually.

Obviously, a lot of us here took a longer time before mastering or becoming members of this great forum, although some people had already been into cryptocurrency or been dealing with cryptocurrency before coming into this forum, so these people didn't really suffered and it didn't take them a longer time to master everything here, but for me personally, this forum took me like 5 to 6 months before I started getting everything right, and I also learnt something here which I believe will help some newbies.

Firstly, when you are newbies, don't be in a rush to learn about the forum or cryptocurrency in the forum. It doesn't matter how long you are here, but how effective your learning is, that's what matters a lot. Acquiring knowledge should be your first priority here. Abide by all the rules and regulations of the forum, it's also very important.

Secondly, know your language capabilities or how good you are at speaking or writing English, rather, to be on the safer side, start from your local board to understand everything better. Additionally, after everything, know the sections you are capable of, if you are good at Bitcoin discussions, technical aspects, investments, economics and so on, go for the best section where you would be able to express your knowledge.
