I am very interested in German crypto projects. It's very pitty that so few projects come from Germany.

Thats it.

I hear you, but I think a lot of projects are coming from Germany, but we don't know it. I know some devs from Germany but they want to stay anon. Also the projects are "Global" to say so... One project like this is Centrifuge, if my memory serves me Cheesy

Yes, maybe German people. But the projects certainly don't come directly from Germany.

Imprint (centrifuge)
**Centrifuge Network Foundation**
Floor 4, Willow House, Cricket Square
Grand Cayman KY1‐9010
Cayman Islands

In this case, what is notable for me personally is the "DE domain", the well-structured website with "Contact and data protection declaration" and the German language.
Of course it's not all perfect and does not comply with all regulations, but it's certainly remarkable.

But I don't want to praise it too much, it will certainly remain a fun project without meaning or purpose and will certainly not live for very long. Let's wait and see.

Centrifuge project blockchain and company initially trace back to founders from Germany/Europe, but the foundation and operational headquarters are registered in the Cayman Islands.

To BUY or not To SELL?
That's the real question!

Proposal: adding AuxPoW (merge mining) to ReservistenCoin (RVC), comments welcome

Hi all,

I run a small SHA-256 pool for home miners at https://sha256-mining.shears.co.uk and have been mining RVC there. I'd like to put forward a proposal to keep RVC alive, and hear from holders and anyone from the original team before anything happens.

Where RVC is now
  • The website, block explorer and exchange link no longer work.
  • The GitHub (reservistencoin/reservistencoin) hasn't been updated in about a year, and a message I left there hasn't been answered.
  • Our pool has found almost all recent blocks (45 of the last 50). When we stop, RVC stops.

The proposal
Add AuxPoW, the same merge mining used by Namecoin, Dogecoin and others. SHA-256 miners could then mine RVC alongside Bitcoin at no extra cost, so the chain keeps moving however many dedicated miners come and go.

  • Nothing else changes: same chain, balances, supply, reward and difficulty rules. No premine, no dev fee, no new coins.
  • Normal mining stays valid.
  • Open code: the changes will be published on GitHub, based on the official reservistencoin source, for anyone to review.
  • Tested first: a public test network will run for 30 days before release.
  • Plenty of notice: AuxPoW only switches on at a set block height, roughly 6-8 weeks after release, announced with the release. Until then the new version behaves exactly like today's.
  • Public node: we can also run an always-on public RVC node so the network stays reachable.

Original team: if you're still around, I'd much rather do this with you. Please reply here, on GitHub, or by PM.

Objections and ideas welcome. Nothing will be released without giving everyone a chance to comment.

Thanks,
Andy

RVC update - the network now depends on one pool

A week on from my AuxPoW proposal, here's where ReservistenCoin stands. I checked the last 4,000 blocks on our node:

  • The /ReservistenCoin/ pool last found a block about 31 days ago (block 23,461)
  • The ckpool miner stopped about 40 days ago, and the last other solo miner about 5 days ago
  • Every block in the last 5 days - including all 19 in the last 24 hours - was mined by our pool (tag /Shears Mining/)
  • reservistencoin.de now shows only a hosting login page, the explorer has been down since last year, and Klingex can't be reached
  • Our node sees just two other RVC nodes on the network

So, honestly: if our pool stopped today, RVC would stop with it.

What I've done so far
  • Running a public, always-on RVC node in a data centre - add it to your reservistencoin.conf: addnode=57.129.180.69:24878
  • Preserved the official source with its full history: github.com/Shears-Mining/reservistencoin (fork of reservistencoin/reservistencoin)
  • Kept a node and the pool running 24/7

Next steps (unchanged from the proposal)
  • No objections so far. I'll leave this open until 2 November for any comments, especially from the original team
  • Then: AuxPoW code published on GitHub for review, a public test network for 14 days, and only then a release with an activation height 6-8 weeks out
  • Same chain, same balances, same rewards - no premine, no dev fee, nothing new created
  • I'm also asking an exchange about giving RVC a place to trade again, and will post here if anything comes of it

If you hold RVC, run a node, or mined it before - please say hello here. More nodes and more miners make the chain safer for everyone.

ReservistenCoin v25.1.0 - difficulty fix, all node operators please upgrade

What happened
On 27 October a large outside hashrate mined 25 RVC blocks in about an hour and then left. RVC's old difficulty rule only adjusts every 12 blocks, by at most 4x, so the difficulty jumped from about 79,000 to about 968,000 and the chain stalled at block 24,109. The remaining miners could not realistically reach the next adjustment.

The fix (v25.1.0)
- From block 24,110 the difficulty is adjusted on every block (ASERT, the method Bitcoin Cash uses, 2-hour half-life).
- Block 24,110 restarts at the difficulty from before the burst (about 78,937).
- After that, a burst of outside hashrate can only push the difficulty up a little, and it comes back down within a few blocks once they leave. No more multi-day freezes.
- All blocks up to 24,109 are validated exactly as before. We re-checked the whole chain with the new version and it ends on the same block.
- Also fixed: an old bug where -reindex aborted on the genesis block.

Please upgrade
Every RVC node needs v25.1.0 to follow the chain past block 24,109. Older nodes will stay stuck at 24,109.

Source and tag: https://github.com/Shears-Mining/reservistencoin (tag v25.1.0)
Build the same way as before (./autogen.sh, ./configure, make). Ready-made Linux and Windows downloads will follow shortly.

Public node:
Code:
addnode=stratum.shears.co.uk:24878

Note for anyone still running ReservistenCoin on an old version (including pools – minorpool.com looks to be stuck at block 24,110):

The RVC chain continued from block 24,110 with the v25.1.0 difficulty fix (per-block ASERT). Older nodes stopped there and can't follow the chain.

Please upgrade to v25.1.0:
https://github.com/Shears-Mining/reservistencoin/releases/tag/v25.1.0

Your existing data folder and wallet carry over as they are – back up your wallet first.

IMPORTANT UPDATE

ReservistenCoin Core 25.2.0 – "ASERT with Shears StallGuard" – upgrade before block 26,500

Hello everyone,

ReservistenCoin is still being mined every day (block 24,700+), and we'd like to make sure it can never get stuck again. Version 25.2.0 is ready and tested. Source code: github.com/Shears-Mining/reservistencoin

Everyone (wallets, nodes, pools, exchanges) needs to upgrade before block 26,500 – about two to three weeks from now at the current rate. Older versions will stop following the chain at that block.

What changes from block 26,500:
  • Step-by-step ASERT (the Bitcoin Cash method) with a 1-hour half-life: difficulty follows how long each block took, smoothly, up or down. No jump at the switch-over.
  • Shears StallGuard: if no block is found for 2 hours, the next block gets easier – the difficulty halves for every further 30 minutes. A big miner leaving can no longer freeze the chain.
  • A floor of difficulty 10,000, so the coin never becomes "free" to mine however quiet it gets.
  • Block times may be at most 10 minutes in the future, so StallGuard can't be triggered early with fake timestamps.
Rewards and every other rule stay exactly the same. No coins or balances change.

Downloads (Windows, Linux, Raspberry Pi 64-bit): GitHub release v25.2.0

Block explorer: rvc-explorer.shears.co.uk (the old explorer.reservistencoin.de is offline).

Pools and nodes still stuck at block 24,110: your node is on a version older than 25.1.0 and stopped at the 25.1.0 change. Upgrading straight to 25.2.0 brings it back onto the live chain. minorpool – this looks like your node; MiningPoolStats has shown it frozen at 24,110 for about a week. Happy to help if you have any questions.
