I think there probably is a noticeable correlation between drug use and gambling. Both can trigger similar reward pathways in the brain making people more likely to chase a “high” or thrill.
When someone struggles with addiction in one area they can be more vulnerable in another. Drugs can lower judgment and self control which may lead to riskier gambling behaviour. The two issues often show up together especially in people dealing with stress or emotional problems.

Although drugs aren't 100% linked to gambling, I'd say they're 99% linked. Gamblers, especially those in offline casinos or traditional gambling establishments, typically drink alcohol, which creates a niche for drugs. Drugs can trigger dopamine and other substances that suppress anxiety. Gamblers often experience significant anxiety and worry, especially when gambling for money. Drugs offer a solution, as the active ingredients in some types of narcotics can reduce the stress caused by gambling. Of course, not all gamblers use drugs, but regarding the OP's statement, I personally believe the link between drugs and gambling is significant.

There is no direct connection to drugs, what the OP explained is that indirectly there is a possibility that gambling can lead to drug addiction and in my opinion that is very far away, the closest is criminal activity, where someone is more desperate to steal in order to have money to gamble, and drugs are still too far from being related to gambling.

On the other side too I think that drug is also part of the after effect of gambling. If you are concluding that crime could be the closest effect of gambling, what about those who don't steal. Or are all gamblers likely to go into crime or stealing? I don't think so. You also have gamblers who feel drinking out there gambling disappointed is best for them and they do that quietly on their own without disturbing any soul. So it is not always the case that gamblers will go committing crime when they lose, they drink too but drug is not what I think they easily do if they where not into it in the beginning.

Hey, drugs and gambling has no correlation at all. People do drugs for different reasons of which clearing their minds from painful situation is part of it such as in the case of heavy losses as you pointed out but can we say that everyone who loses huge amount of money in gambling is into drugs? i am not condemning anyone who is into drugs but something that makes you do something outside your consciousness should be avoided because same drugs that some people use to clear their minds is also what some others use to boost their morales to execute evil plots

Ha? Sorry, I never thought of this. For me, it’s two different things. What I know is that when some gamblers lose, they take out a loan, not drugs. Maybe alcohol because of frustration. Alcohol is more than enough to make you forget your losses for a short period of time. And some gamblers drink alcohol before they gamble to make themselves braver.

I’m not saying getting addicted to gambling is good, of course it’s not, but I would still prefer being addicted to gambling than to drugs.

There may be some indirect correlation however it is weak. Doing drugs can make people get involved in a lost of risky behaviours that they would not normally engage in. For instance, gambling especially, if already have some early signs of gambling addiction, doing drugs will make it worse. But if we talk about a direct cause and effect relationship, there is none.

You are wrong because you are generalising that because gamblers are gambling too much, they are also drug addicts. I don't think there is even a study on this.
If a few gamblers are into substance abuse, then we cannot conclude about the relationship between gambling and addiction; gambling addiction and substance abuse are two different things. Drug addiction is not something that sustains gambling; it's the motivation and character of the individuals that are the driving factors.

I guess that someone who believes with that have seen it in the movies or in real life. But if it's with ourselves, we don't have to get involved with drugs just to gamble. At least, we're still in the right mind that we're not going that far and we're not crossing the line. We know that we gamble even if there's no need to get involved with that. I know that in some neighborhood, these two are associated because of how the community where they are living has that kind of vibes and they've just used to it. And it's sad that if someone has to use substance just to clear their minds for the losing streak they get.

It is ture that Gambling is not related to drugs. An addicted person in gambling is not necessary addicted to drugs.  
BUT! an addicted person in gambling can make way just to get money and continue to gamble.

This is where he or she can sell drugs just to earn money and support his addiction in GAMBLING.

If you suffer  huge loss, you do not need to take drugs to clear your head,  there are other ways you can clear your head of the loss you have suffered without having to affect your health by taking drugs that can be harmful to you but only gives you temporary relief and escape from the reality of things, after you must have gotten better and recovered from the effects of the drugs, you are most likely going to come back to the reality of your loss, with a health condition sometimes.

They are both bad habits but they are not connected to each other directly. Are all gamblers smoke cigs or drink alcohol? Of course not. Some of them do those and some of them not. Just like how some gamblers do drugs and some don’t. Is every drug addict also a gambling addict as well? Again, no. That logic should answer your question imo. Gambling itself isn’t as bad as alcohol or drugs too. I mean there are some drugs that will mess you up even you try them only once but you can go on with your life just fine if you gamble responsibly so there is that. Gambling &  drug use go hand in hand almost everywhere. Look at this report, 22.5 % of people suffering from gambling problems had drug use problems. As far as I have seen, gamblers who have problems generally show a higher tendency to use alcohol, marijuana and other drugs

But you have to think from another perspective, gambling is actually a behavioral addiction, which works through the dopamine &  reward systems of our brain, just like drug addiction. However, it does not require anything to flow into the body. So, your opinion is not entirely wrong, for some people gambling &  drug addiction can be negatively associated in their lives however the two are not the same, this relationship is quite complex

I think I replied to your previous thread about this same issue and I still repeat that drug has has nothing to do with gambling, gambling addiction and drug addiction are two different things just that some person enjoy gambling and drugging, using drug as a way of having fun and  to withstand the pressure of losing like you said. but where the problem comes is the results there after when the drug mat have expired in the head of such person, they will just realized that they have lose, and the funny part is that they may still win and not noticed that they have won because they are under the influence of drug.

I've been a drug addict though but I don't gamble or hustle because I want to take drugs, I hustle for survival while some part of my income goes for drugs, if I'm not careful, drugs takes it all, I've never thought of gambling so I could buy drugs or taking drugs so I could predict perfectly. Nah.

It's more deadly to be addicted to gambling and doing drugs at the same time, any body that does that is getting closer to his grave sooner.

Truly with how the OP explained it all it can be said that gambling do contribute to drug addiction to a compulsive gambler who's with the character of gambling huge funds to his loss, lean onto hard substances to be able to clear his head from the worries of thinking about all that funds that has being lost to the house. Where the gambler persist with such behaviour, the tendency of turning to a drug addict and a criminal is possible.

So you doing drugs?
If yes, then try quitting at least for your mental health, you may feel as if you getting off stress by substance abuse but mind you also that their have their long term negative effects on you well being, gambling is for fun, so seeking other substance to have that fun doesn't make sense to me, I suggest that we gamble with free head at least to be able to calculate our risks and limit our spending, instead of getting carried away with the temporary feelings from substance which most often lead to lose sense your have been impird by the drug.

I don't do drugs maybe because I quit gambling on time and you said something that gambling is fun and we should do it with free head to enable us manage the risk, that was the point am trying to signal out because huge losses can be frustrating and even give you a wrong stigma on where to get more money to retaliate but I love you points and is very clear of statement. For how long will a gambler who loses money to gambling will use drugs to clear their head of gambling loss? Is it not double expenses a gambler will be having for themselves, if they spend money on gambling, they also do that on drugs.

For your information, not all gamblers are into drugs. Those who are into drugs because of gambling losses are doing it out of frustration of their gambling losses, not with clear eyes
