I knew something like this would eventually happen to the boy. You must understand that people in authority never want to hear bitter truths or be challenged. From my experience, whenever you correct leaders or question their wrong actions, they see it as a threat. But the truth will always prevail; no matter how we try to bury it, it must still come to light.
I know Yerima’s life is at risk for challenging the FCT Minister because they may come for him spiritually. However, I truly admire Lt. Yerima’s courage and confidence. His actions send a strong message that the lives of ordinary citizens also matter. Oppression is too much in Nigeria. If not for military power, if that scenario had happened between civil servants or ordinary individuals, the land would have been taken and the owner locked up. That is how easily your land can be seized, even if all your papers are correct.
My dear nothing concerning our government suprises me anymore, if a Brigadier General could be killed by unmasked terrorists and the Nigerian Army couldn't do anything to rescue him even when he called for help them no officer in the military is safe. I don't know if it's allowed but if I were Yerima I'll leave Abuja or leave the country cause his life is at risk, I expect him to act smart while it's still too early cause it would be so sad to lose another high profile military personnel.
The actual minister he challenged is someone with a high profile in this present administration, he has the backing of the President hence why he was made the minister of the FCT and has the control of the security in the capital state, he's known for being very arrogant and deals with threats that comes his way, I might not be wrong if I say he has a hand in the assassination attempt of Yerima but since I don't have any proof to back that up maybe I'm wrong but those who's experienced the terror of Wike in the state he governed before now can tell he's not someone to joke with and he's capable of doing such using his thugs or corrupt security personnel's.
God knows whether he was the one or not. Although, when you are in a position of power, you will always have boys or loyalists. It might not have been Wike who attempted or planned the assassination; it may have been his boys or loyalists who sent the assassin. I believe Yerima will be heavily protected because soldiers are trained to support and loyal to one another
I like what happened between Lt. Yerima and the FCT Minister. It sends a strong message that an ordinary person can challenge the government when they are wrong, and that Nigerians will no longer continue to accept oppression from politicians.
I give kudos to social media; if not for it, many politicians would walk away with their wicked acts. Social media is being use to exposes them.
Imagine: during election periods, they go to villages to campaign, eat with hawkers, take pictures with beggars on the streets, and pretend to be humble. But after the election, they become unreachable. Senators collect constituency allowances yet still refuse to deliver, and nothing is done about it.
Also imagine, because of their greed for power, someone in the government or the opposition can sponsor bandit activities just to disrupt the present administration and use it as a yardstick during elections. This shows how desperate some people are. They don't care if citizens are dying, as long as it’s not their own family members. Most politicians’ children are abroad, so they feel no remorse.
As time goes on, Nigerians will not fold their hands and let things slide anymore.
