In last 10 years, bitcoin had reduced the popularity of Gold. But now , Gold price has doubled in last one year. Will gold regain its shine as a safe investment in future?
Gold and Bitcoin are two different assets and two different investment arenas from an investment perspective. So Bitcoin has not affected the popularity of gold nor has Bitcoin affected gold. Their fundamentals are different and both work differently.

I cannot agree with any part of your sentence, but rather I am asking you the opposite question. When did gold lose its luster? I think gold has never lost its luster, so there is no question of regaining its luster.

Gold never lost its shine and Bitcoin is already on its own path to greatness. They may be seen to be in a competition for the one that will prevail over the other as a safe investment, but it still remains with the one that wants to invest to choose wisely. Gold is not outdated but maybe seen as an old way of investment due to the many disadvantages it has over Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a digital asset that can be taken everywhere whereby gold is not. Gold doubling in price in the last decade is not kinda big surprise because people are still heavily relying on gold as a safe haven over bitcoin. As bitcoin continues to make dominance, does that are overly reliant on gold are still making it look relevant and looks to be in competition with gold. Bitcoin may overtake gold one day but still looks to happen in a very long time from now.

If price of gold doubled in the last year means the demand for it doubled too, then how can you say that gold lost its thing?

I don't know how it is in other countries but gold is still the go to investment thing in my country and almost every middle-class person see gold as their security in time of economic downturn. Bitcoin got separate userbase and I doubt one thing collide with the other in terms of demand.

Hasn't gold been shining for the past few decades? And agree with others that bitcoin has not reduced bitcoin's popularity that gold remains popular as a safe asset.

Gold is still popular today and many people even keep their assets here instead of the volatile bitcoin... meaning that many investors diversify their investments into gold and bitcoin.

So bitcoin will not be able to directly pass the popularity of gold just like that from market capitalization alone is far different which means gold is still popular among investors.

I don't believe gold has lost or will ever lose its luster. Gold has been the most popular, reliable and valuable currency for thousands of years and will remain a safe investment.

It's true that Bitcoin has become a stronger competitor to gold and surpasses it in many aspects, and people have begun to focus more on Bitcoin than gold. But, gold remains a beloved asset and hasn't lost its position. The recent price drop isn't due to Bitcoin; it's a normal, temporary phenomenon inherent in the nature of global markets.

On the contrary of what you and many other people think, gold never lost its appeal to the masses. Never. It is just, some people wanted you to think that way so they could grab them cheap shiny bullions for themselves and you know what? Many people believed them. Gold has been the most secure investment. Godl it timeless. Godl is eternal. That doesn’t mean it is better than bitcoin. No, bitcoin has many features that are better than godl but gold is unique in its own way. Not even bitcoin can mimic godl completely. First of all, gold is a metal. It is the best conductor out there right after silver if my memory serves me right and it doesn’t oxidize. When btc does those, it can become better than godl and when godl does what btc does, it can become better than btc. Till then, let’s have them both and enjoy the ride
You make a strong point, gold has never truly lost its appeal. Its value has survived even many people wanted to replace it with digital currencies but a lot of people still saw it as trusted method to preserve their wealth. And also gold is used a currency for centuries and a portable and easy method for exchange for many super powers and still now many investers invest their wealth in gold. On the other hand Bitcoin also a very strong digital currency and have many features that gold doesn't have and also bitcoin has its own wealth and network .Not even bitcoin can replace gold completely. Firstly, gold is a metal and good cuductor and used in many electronic tools so it has indirectly a huge market share in electronic market. So the picking point is that both currencies have there individual worth and qualities and we should be avoid to compare them

Gold remains the eternal king and possesses characteristics that Bitcoin cannot replicate: it has existed for thousands of years, is accepted by all civilizations, is recognized by all religions, maintains its value even in the face of power outages, internet outages, or world chaos, and is independent of networks, technology, or computers. Gold is the only asset that endures through all regimes, civilizations, and disasters. Even until the Day of Judgment, the value of gold will not be zero. Analogously, Bitcoin, no matter how sophisticated, continues to operate within the world, while gold is part of the world itself.

However, this does not indicate that gold will regain global dominance. In my opinion, the increase in gold prices this year is not a permanent resurgence or a structural change, but rather a geopolitical reaction, a form of market fear, a hedge against uncertainty, and a temporary escape from fiat. Gold remains valuable, but it is no longer the engine of modern economic growth.

In economics, gold is the underlying eternal money, while Bitcoin is the digital monetary superstructure. The two are not enemies, but rather complementary. Bitcoin does not replace gold, but rather it replaces the roles that fiat previously failed to fulfill. The concrete evidence is that the current increase in gold prices does not threaten Bitcoin; rather, it confirms a paradigm shift. When gold and Bitcoin rise simultaneously, it means people are fleeing fiat, not choosing between Bitcoin and gold. In market parlance, fiat weakens, trust in institutions declines, and the world seeks a strong store of value. In this situation, gold maintains stability, while Bitcoin absorbs momentum. Validation of this parallel pattern demonstrates the phenomenon of the collapse of fiat credibility, years of deglobalization, extreme interest rate cycles, and geopolitical instability.

Going forward, gold remains the Eternal King (the highest value in the physical world, the ultimate support if the world collapses, and a symbol of wealth across time). Meanwhile, Bitcoin is the king of the digital era (being the most efficient asset for global markets, with unlimited mobility, full transparency, and the stability of mathematical scarcity). Bitcoin is not a substitute for gold but a consequence of the collapse of the modern fiat system. Bitcoin holds the future of efficiency. The two are not in competition; both are rising because the world is moving away from paper money.

Because gold = stability, Bitcoin = aggression, real business = productivity, and cash = flexibility, I always use an investment portfolio that is inflation-resistant, geopolitically crises-resistant, monetary-resistant, and growth-resistant. I have 35% gold, 20% Bitcoin, 35% real-sector businesses with real stability and growth, and the remaining 10% cash to exercise my opportunistic spirit.

Bitcoin may not have been able to significantly reduce the popularity of gold yet, but there is a possibility that the new upcoming generation will move more towards Bitcoin than gold. For example, I myself give more priority to Bitcoin than gold in terms of investment and that is why I am investing in Bitcoin. Time will tell what will happen in the future, but whether Bitcoin and gold will be popular will depend on which particular person is more comfortable investing in.

I believe that before bitcoin came out, many of us were also not interested and did not invest in gold. And many investors also do not invest in gold because gold is considered a safe asset to hedge against risks due to economic instability or to store value. It has never been considered as an investment that can bring high returns, so very few people consider it as a profit making tool or speculate on it hoping to expect high returns. Most people when it comes to investing will think of investing in stocks, commodities, rather than gold.

So the emergence of bitcoin and the popularity of bitcoin will not affect the demand for gold and the dominance of gold in the eyes of the people.

As _act_ said, Bitcoin hasn't reduced the popularity of Gold but it's a digital alternative that many people find interesting and attractive enough to invest. Btw Gold is still the safest investment option because it's the oldest currency with value and the highest market cap. Gold has been used as a reserve by countries and it's the most widespread, trusted, valuable metal. Also, BRICS countries, Brazil, Russia and China have been purchasing lots of Gold. It's a signal that Gold is still the safest investment option.

In recent years, the gold market price has increased significantly due to the fact that various countries, including the governments of China and Pakistan, have been hoarding a lot of gold. In addition, we see that the inflation of the US currency is increasing and I think that the volatility in the stock and bond markets is one of the reasons. The price of Bitcoin often fluctuates, which is why investors are investing more and more in gold.

I know this is a bitcoin forum, but gold set a new all time high a couple of weeks ago, and right now it is still trading above $4k an ounce. Gold didn't lose its popularity, neither did it stop being a safe investment, we are talking about an asset that is regarded as the most reliable safe haven asset you could purchase. That is why nations have been stockpiling on gold for a long time now.

People like to pit gold against bitcoin, but it does not have to be so. One shouldn't worry about which is more "popular" than the other. I don't actually see any direct competition between the two assets. Some people favor gold, others bitcoin. And talking about diversification, it is great to own the two assets.

Not only that, gold is also the best performing investment this year. Gold prices have increased by more than 50% while Bitcoin has even generated negative returns for those who invested in it when its price was over $100,000 earlier this year. Although this does not reflect that gold is better than bitcoin in terms of returns, because as we all know, it is because bitcoin is more volatile. But it shows that this year really is the year of gold and an exciting year for the asset class.

They are two different assets and we should not compare them, but many of us like to do so and this causes unnecessary controversy. Honestly, I don't see any reason to compare them when we can invest in both.

but what I see is that bitcoin may compete with gold in the future.

I doubt that. Like the country I live , the target audience for both forms is completely opposite.

Like those who invest in gold are traditional people with traditional thinking.

And the crypto investors and users are mainly young audience.

I do not see crypto replacing gold as an investment option at least in my country. Like , even in marriages even the poorest of the poor here buys gold equal to 5-10% of their net worth. It is hard to kill these traditional beliefs so easily.

Nah gold didn't double the price in this year.

Gold within a year, the lowest was $2,600 and the highest was $4,300, which mean the price rise for 65%.

Bitcoin within a year, the lowest was $75,000 and the highest was $125,000, which mean the price rise for 66%.

Both assets perform same in this year, so I don't expect the adoption to gold will rise because people not have much money to invest in safe assets, they will try to invest that would bring them high profit even though they will accept high risk too.

Gold has made very significant progress as regards it outperforming some stock indices like the S&P 500 and has reached new heights despite the current dip or concerns of volatility. It would regain its spot still and continue to be a major investment asset in the financial market even above Bitcoin or other crypto currencies.

Gold is still very much a valuable asset to invest into or diversify ones portfolio to own, because it is more stable and has a long term chance of bringing great returns as compared to short term trading or short term investment.

Nothing reduces popularity, gold remains an investment and there are still many who accumulate and thus also bitcoin every time you know more people enter the market, so both are running in their respective corridors, some make bitcoin an alternative investment and some make gold an alternative investment, this depends on everyone's point of view in assessing this investment asset.

Bitcoin prints a new ATH and Gold also prints its ATH this year, what's missing here? every 4 years is also like that, only bitcoin is more volatile than gold, and I think it is quite sure that someday the competition between gold or bitcoin will be clearer when the capitalization of the two is almost the same, for now it is still gold that has a global presence.

Why compare an asset that has been popular for hundreds of years with an asset that has only been around for decades, like Bitcoin? Furthermore, these two assets have different characteristics, leading to different development histories, and thus significantly different market caps. However, in terms of safe investment and asset value stability, gold remains a valuable asset, still known as a safe haven or the best long-term store of value that doesn't rely on the internet or networks. Meanwhile, Bitcoin, which has developed and offers ease of use and transparency, could become a more popular asset in the future if its adoption continues and continues to spread to all countries around the world.

In last 10 years, bitcoin had reduced the popularity of Gold. But now , Gold price has doubled in last one year. Will gold regain its shine as a safe investment in future?
Yes, it is, and it will be. I don't think Bitcoin reduced the popularity of gold because the two have a different nature. Gold is a very old asset in which anyone could invest, whether they are daily labourers or millionaires. But for Bitcoin you should have some criteria, like you must be used to smartphones and should be smart as well. But for gold you really don't need any experience or criteria; you just have money, and then you are in gold. Most of the people have been using gold to make their ornaments; those even have a small amount of money. So the demand for gold hasn't dropped anyway.

Bitcoin has only investment scope besides sending money worldwide. There are different classes of people, and they invest in different places or assets. The Bitcoin investor class is different from gold investors. Both have been growing, though Bitcoin is moving fast. It needs a lot of time to write the full details. So I think gold will move its own way, like Bitcoin.

one things we should learn to do is to analyze bitcoin independent of any other asset and not make it look like bitcoin is competing with an asset that after going down for so long has only managed to become bullish again for a while. bitcoin has shown itself distinct and regardless of the current value of gold, it has come to a point where we have to know that regardless of how much gold shines, bitcoin remains the king bitcoin bitcoin will always outshine it. if this analogy is just because bitcoin is a bit down at the moment, then just sit back and wait and you will see bitcoin doing so well in the time soonest.

I disagree with the statement that Bitcoin is diminishing gold's popularity. The two can coexist in a balanced investment portfolio. Gold remains a favorite across all countries. Gold has been recognized as a safe investment for most people. Several strong factors support gold's current rise as a safe haven, including global and geopolitical uncertainty. Geopolitical turmoil such as conflict, trade wars, or global macroeconomic risks encourage investors to turn to gold.

This is not true. The Gold's chart above is telling the truth and at the same time denied your false statement. Bitcoin is not even reducing the gold's popularity. Rationally, if Bitcoin did it, Gold would not reach new ATH. The fact that it's breaking new ATH, and still slowly, but surely climbing up.

A part from that i tell you the truth about how so many people in my country are being panic buy of gold. Your statement is not evem matching the reality.

In fact that gold's price action tells us how it's still remain one of safest asset to hold.
