Just know that old men are wise than you think they are but most people know that they are wise. If you take a look at the stat of age groups that are addicted to gambling, old people will be far less than young adults. Young adults are more likely to have problem gambling than old people. Most people that are addicted to gambling will likely be within the age of 18 to 30.

I also think the same as well because, these sets of people can know how to control themselves and work on their emotions on whatever they are doing, and already they also have the mindset that gambling is not a place to make people that easily becoming what they wants than just to have fun, but the youth of nowadays would want to make it through gambling without knowing that gambling is just a game, which one would play to easy away their time and at same time can either stake with little amount to spice up their fun level without becoming that bored while gambling.

for me full restriction might not be the best solution cause gambling is not the same as employment where retirement age is fixed for safety & productivity some seniors still gamble just for social interaction or to pass the time not necessarily to make money if we ban them completely they might be more get isolated or stressed. I think better is stronger protection like stricter spending limits, wellness checks & making sure they get support when gambling becomes harmful and more okay if there is guidance instead of totally removing their freedom.

The world is yet to find a lasting solution to underaged gambling and now we want to add “over-aged” gambling to it? I don’t think that would work especially in land based casinos. Do you know that if you do a survey, what you will discover is that the older folks who you are referring to here spend the most money on gambling? They have the money which they have worked for all their years and just want to pass time and connect with friends at the casino table. They are the casinos biggest customer base.

I don't see the need of placing restrictions on that age limit. It is not all gamblers that do gamble to make profit, some are still gambling to entertain themselves. It won't be a nice idea to restrict them from gambling at that age. It is only those that are gambling to make profit, should this restriction be placed on but it won't be possible to know or differentiate those that gamble to make profit and those that do gamble for funs.

With age, wisdom comes so they know what they are doing, but if they are addicted to it they are not any different from other age groups then why suggest banning the old people only? Why not ban gambling completely?

The only reason why kids are not allowed to gamble is because they don't have the capability to understand the risk involved in it so just like most other things the gambling is not allowed for them.

Where I live in, the old men are the gurus in sports betting prediction and lottery. I don't know how they do it, but they can spend a lot of time analyzing a few games and win them.

You are right, banning it for gambling is best for their own good. The intention will not be punishment but protection at this stage. However, you know they spend a huge amount of time at the gambling shop, which is not just a place for winning money but also a social outlet for them and an escape room from their loneliness. Do you then think that old gamblers are doing it for the money? Most of them are engaging in gambling out of boredom at home. They want to be doing something that will get them engaged and entertained since their children have grown, and they are no longer in the service(working).

Senior citizens should not be restricted from gambling, once they are willing to play, we all know how they can be bored a times with doing nothing, they needed some other things to make their days, get them engaged, most of their children would have gone to work and they may be left alone at home bored and tired, which is not perfect enough, they should not be sideline from gambling opportunity once they are willing to do so, time will still tell when they will willingly on their own stop it when they see the need.

Well, I agree to this, I can see that a lot of old people just want to play gambling, it's their way to spend time with their own friends. Gambling is one of the activities that don't require a lot of physical activities and at the same time, have a lot of thrill and can be done with your friends. It's normal, as long as the person wants to gamble then it shouldn't be forbidden. The case should only be applied to young people because they lack a good thinking about the value of money which is very important. Had this emotion while reading the op but I don’t want to make a comment based on emotions because it won’t make any sense for a general board but however I most definitely relate to this op complains because I have a first hand experience meeting this old men gambling and it struck me that it’s all because they are unable to get a good retirement or the retirement plans failed hence fun could only come from what they already know which is gambling, they gamble and be happy, so don’t judge them because of the gambling at old age.

I don't think old age restrictions are a good thing.  People deteriorate at different speeds and I don't think they can all be placed in the same basket.  That being said, there comes a point when people may need someone to look out for them.  We are all lucky if we have this in old age, and those people are the ones who should be stopping things like senile gambling if it is a problem.  You can't police or govern everything though.  You can only do your best and hope that family steps in where oversight ends.

I subscribed to the channel of a very addicted gambler who's been a gambler for over 15 years. He recently did an interview where he showed off his room, and it was terrible because he hadn't developed any relationships or social connections. He hasn't found a job, and all he does is blog about himself and how hard his life has become. He literally has a couch in his room, a laptop on the couch, and nothing else. You have a point, old people are mostly addicted to gambling because they are retired and lonely if people in this category had people around them they wouldn't get involved much in gambling but for the most part young people are more addicted and two reasons why they get addicted to gambling is the quest to make quick money and the kind of people they have in their cycle that influences them.

I think that the restrictions should be put forth... When people cross a certain age, let's say 70, they are no longer as sharp and string as they were... Gambling at such age put too much strain on them which is bad for their health... One loss can easily trigger a heart attack, and their IQ at so e point begins to drop which means that they will not be able to think smartly, While gambling has a lot of luck in it, skill too is a big factor... Yeah, in most cases I would say that it's proper because most of this old gamblers might be lacking self control as thier Brain is no longer working effectively so restricting them from gambling could be the best option. Aging couldn't be just tiring, but lonely. Old people find it hard missing out month upon months on events which tickled their bubbles at youthful stage. Challenges are there to handle, gaming know no age, and these old people ain't immuned to problem gambling. Their major problem is family, some members would accept and allow their aging parent to gamble, while others won't give a room for a thing like that. I do not actually expect such age of people to go gambling again as they are meant to be resting at their homes instead of lurking around gambling shops to gamble. As a matter of fact, age or young gamblers should gamble so long as they have rhe money for it. What really matters here is responsible gambling practice. After all gamble is for entertainment only those gambling to make money become addicted to it.
