For the past 15 years, Nigeria in West Africa has been faced with myriad of security challenges.The insurgents group known as "Boko Haram" has been responsible for every attacks recorded in the country.so many innocent civilians have been killed,where others are taken into captivity for Ramson purposes.in some area, farmers no long goto there farms in fear of being killed or kidnapped.recently,the Boko Haram insurgents launched one of there attack in school,killing the vice principal and kidnapped about 25 female students of the school in Kebbi state.many residents in the northern region of the country lives daily in fear of unknown.
Successive administration have come up with several security strategic plans aimed at bringing the issue to a halt or even total eradication,but it seems all the plans yeileded no positive results.not too long ago,the current president in his bid to sterm the high rate coordinated attacks by these insurgents group on innocent civilians changed all the heads of the security agencies in the country with mandate to go after and flush out all the insurgents from there hideouts out of the country to restore the past glory of the country as the most peaceful nation in Africa.The lawmakers in the country in the other hand, seems not satisfied with the development, are calling more recruitment of personal of the army forces to assist in tackling the security situation in the country.

Nigeria is a corrupt country the problem here is not about recruiting more young youths to join the army and die, the Nigeria government are the one that supplies weapon to this Boko Haram, if the Nigeria Government wants to stop the killing in Nigeria it's very easy, we have the air Force we have the Navy and also our army whew so this bandits think they can run to if the government start fighting them.
From my observation in what the government is trying to do they want the youth whom they promised to be the leaders of tomorrow to join the army and get killed by their sponsors while their own children are outside the country enjoying life.

the whole situation with Boko Haram has been going on for so long that its clear the problem is not the lack of manpower its the lack of real intention to end it because you cant fight insurgency when the same leaders act like they dont know where these guys get weapons from we all know how Nigeria works

and sending more youth to join the military only to become targets while politicians kids are chilling in UK and Canada sounds like the same old story again like bro tell me how you fight a group that has better equipment than the army sometimes

Honestly recruiting more soldiers will be of great help, but that's not the solution. To stop this bandit attacks in Nigeria because this country's problems is not about increasing soldiers,rather making sure the soldiers are well trained, have good weapons to fight and also have information about how this criminals or bandits operates. Truth be told the kind insecurity in this country didn't start from now, rather is has so many roots and if we don't do something about those roots like corruption, bandits won't stop but will always fill up that space.
So I will say that soldiers can be of great help but it will take a good security system, intelligence, technology,good weapons etc before bandits can be stop or will reduce.

War has gone beyond humans carrying weapons and moving from one battlefield to another. Technology is now as important as humans. Nigeria needs more soldiers but they need to be well-trained and given sophisticated weapons. The use of military drones to achieve success in the front line have increased since the war between Russia and Ukraine started.

There is also a need for the Nigerian government to seek partnerships with advanced nations. This is because sharing intelligence is also important to victory. I remember the defeat that Ukraine suffered on the frontline when the US decided to withdraw intelligence information.

recruiting more soldiers can help, but it is not a complete solution on its own and yes of cause!! more personnel means more manpower to cover more areas, respond faster and reduce the pressure on the current forces. that can make a difference, especially in places where the military presence is too thin. but the truth is that the insecurity problem in Nigeria is deeper than just numbers!! if the new recruits don’t have the right training, equipment, intelligence support and motivation, nothing will change that much. the insurgents are using tactics that require good intelligence, technology and strong coordination not just more boots on the ground as they are suggesting

The Nigeria government usually conduct recruitment into Army on yearly basis, I don't agree the military is having a shortage of personnel to combat these terrorists groups. This issue of security challenges is more than what meet the eyes. The more you look, the less you see. The politicians are playing a dirty game with the lives of innocent people to achieve their personal goals.

Let me burst your brain with this news 50 students abducted from Niger Catholic school have escaped, says CAN if this is not a plan game, what then can we call it? Were the kidnappers drugged or sleeping while the whole fifty students escaped without their notice? Not at all, even if they recruit the whole Nigeria for this purpose and the government still have the same mindset they have now... The Boko Haram would finish everybody. The Nigerian government knows all about what is going on and that's the reason this Boko Haram something is still a big problem. If the Nigerian Army is truly fighting against these Boko Haram, their population is supposed to reduce or else the Boko Haram use to recruit members too.

The bottomline is that the government knows what they're doing with the Boko Haram people if not this crisis would have ended when it earlier started getting into news during the time of Ex President Goodluck Jonathan.

It is not enough to recruit more hands where the existing system has been compromised. I read somewhere that when insurgents is taking long to be combated that means an insider from the powers of the day is involved. So the most important thing to do is to flush out those who are compromising the system first. That is what to do for them to have the peace that they are looking for before the new people join them because if that is not done, you will have more compromised recruit forming more nucleus and create more chains of sabotage in the system. It is a situation that needs very honest decision to take care of that is not favouritism.

Only those who wants to risk their lives over nothing would agree to be recruited into the army. I saw some complaints of the Chief of Army staffs that thousands of the last recruited personnels are no where to be found, however what came into my mind was, why won't they flee for their lives when the system is corrupt and the government even care more about terrorists than even the military.

 Who would want to go risk their lives when a brigadier generally was brutally murdered by terrorists and published on the media yet the government or military couldn't do nothing about it, that's to tell you how corrupt the system is. As for the escape of the kidnapped victims in Niger, it's just a proganda news to stop the US from coming in to destroy terrorism the government implanted in the country for their interest.

Worshipers now arms themselves to protect themselves during church services just so that they can stay alive.

Recruitment cannot stop those bandits if our current military cannot do so, already we have millions of military personnel in the country and guessing what might be the total population of those bandits it might not be upto 300,000 or 600,000 so this number shouldn't be too tough or impossible for our millions of army already have to counter. Our military is not something people would like to go so even if they want to recruit I don't no how many persons will be willing to apply. Nigeria has Air force system that should have been assisting the army on the air but i hardly hear about them.

The boko haram militia is in what numbers that the Nigerian military can't defeat? Are they up to 10,000? I don't think they are. But the Nigerian military is way more than such a number(10,000).

If you had known the Nigerian army in Africa, their capabilities. You will find out that in every African insurgent problem, the Nigerian soldiers are the ones who are mostly called for orderliness and peacekeeping in those nations.

While then, will Boko Haram take too long for Nigerian soldiers to defeat? Don't you think the Nigerian government is politicizing the matter and they are following up on the matter with soft hands because of unfolding the real cause of this deadly Boko Haram insurgency, many known government officials will be exposed.

The question is; are the bandits killing the army that they are talking about recruitment of more persons into the military? For the records, the army recruitment is voluntary except in a case of war or intense terrorism that would require more persons to join the army mandatorily and from what is happening in Nigeria, everything seems so political because these terrorists doesn't even have a course that they are fighting for regardless that they demand ransom for some of their hostages. However, recruiting more persons in the army cannot solve insecurity challenges. Most of the government officials knows the sponsors of these terrorists but due to the fact that some of them are also corrupt and doesn't want their own evil deeds to be exposed, hence the reason why they are keeping quiet and not doing anything about it.

By the news we had until 2014, most of Boko Haram's funding came from ISIS terrorist group and also from drugs dealing. There is a strong network operating on the backgrounds, which isn't very different from other criminal and terrorist factions across the globe.

All of them exist, because they are allowed to operate by those who are in power positions. And why do they allow this? Because the network is complex and involves many different individuals. There are mixed personal interests involved, and usually people who are in power positions don't like to go against interests, as it ends impacting them somehow.

Moreover, drugs industry will never be stopped, because there are influent people who consume it. It's the politician, the medic, the police officer, the lawyer or a son, sibling, nephew of them. So, in order for such industries and niches of the market to exist and to generate profit for some, criminal factions have to remain active.

Thank you so much for bringing up this issue about the plans of our government over the young youth of this country ,but I want to let everyone to know that, recruiting more young youth into the army forces is not the solution to our insecurity problems in Nigeria, rather they are trying to seek for another way of killing more youth and reduce the numbers of our young youth into a grass root, because I am honestly speaking to you all that our leaders knows the solution to our problem and whenever they are ready to end insecurity in this country it won't take them 24hours to do that ,but just because it's a plan work that is why they are beating around the bush instead of doing the needs..
