There are some things that we can't touch especially if it's just for procurement as a hedge for ourselves and I don't think the oil sector is something that ordinary people like us can touch too deeply.
There is a lot of drama in it including dealings with some big countries. In terms of conditions it is true that the role of oil can be profitable for us to navigate because after all this can be a condition where we can rule in terms of the chain of power because oil is now an important role for the continuation of the economic sector. But on the one hand we also have to realize that there are a lot of things that we don't even know because they are covered by the existing government or regime and it could be that oil is more dangerous for us to enter than bitcoin.

Im not sure about alternatives exactly but as a function of costs or energy required to process it makes some sense in comparison or as a ratio. Reason being this is so familiar is gold has been measured as a ratio to oil or an index such as USO for decades so far as I know. Others ratios Ive seen are silver gold and possibly other commodities also, the idea being they are all related partly through similarity and a common theme of being inverse to the dollar most of the time.
I do believe BTC has some relation to energy in that electricity over long distances has transmission losses but Bitcoin does not. There is some latent utility in processing BTC near large energy production sites from that possible efficency and security to transfer value safely. That would not be oil most of the time, maybe gas but oil is highly transportable and thats why it'll be around for a century.

It's not easy for the private sector to invest directly because the oil industry is generally owned by the government, with all the dynamics and geopolitics that constantly influence it. We can invest in the oil sector, but in subsectors like distribution. So, of the three types mentioned by Op, I think gold is the safest and most accessible commodity, followed by Bitcoin, with all its highly volatile risks.

Bitcoin has been proven from research to show a more positive correlation both with gold and crude oil, this chanizges were observed significantly especially after the COVID-19 pandemic people tend to shift toward Bitcoin adoption to get an edge over inflation and economic fluctuation. Bitcoin is currently ben viewed as a legitimate asset Bitcoint storage can be regarded as a valuable storage
In fact, Bitcoin has long been considered a store of value by some who were already familiar with it before the COVID-19 pandemic, and its adoption has continued to spread to several countries until its adoption is clearly visible as it is today. However, I don't like to compare Bitcoin to other things like gold and oil because those are tangible goods, whereas Bitcoin is a digital asset, so comparisons with anything else seem less appropriate. Although it's also not wrong for some to make comparisons based on factors such as price and value in the eyes of everyone.

It is a matter of storage as well, you can't physically purchase and store oil but you can do that easily with gold and even easier with bitcoin. That makes them better investments. However, I still think if you are familiar with the geopolitics you can start trading in the oil market as well. BTW the reason why oil is being brought up in economics circles these days is because people are comparing current situation with the history; the times in the past when US government tried to revive the weakening dollar (specially during the first major dedollarisation time) by pumping the oil price to increase the demand for the dollar through the Petrodollar scam. FWIW I don't think it is a correct comparison because we are in a transitional phase establishing World Order and with the conflicts going on and the inflation+recession, pumping the oil price would significantly damage US economy. Now they won't be able to control the inflation caused by higher oil price, by increasing the interest rates.

so which one is the better investment anyway the answer is still BITCOIN bitcoin has been proven to rise over time and also has bigger returns but oil is not well known for being a good long term investment many are also working to create substitute for oil for energy so which one is your pick yeah i get what youre saying op bitcoin definitely edges out oil for most folks especially if youre not some big shot with connections in the energy world oil sounds cool cause its this massive industry thats always in demand but think about it its super tied to governments wars and all that global mess like one conflict in the middle east and boom prices tank or spike wildly and youre left guessing bitcoin though its got that fixed supply no ones messing with it politically you can buy a tiny bit or a ton from your phone no need for storage tanks or etfs that might go bust plus over the years its shown insane growth like from pennies to over 100k now and with more people adopting it that scarcity just pumps the value higher oil on the other hand yeah its scarce but they keep finding new ways to extract or replace it with evs and renewables eating into demand long term id pick bitcoin hands down for the average joe diversify sure but start with btc

I personally think it is best to choose Bitcoin as an investment. There are many places to invest in the market, but I will choose Bitcoin because there is personal freedom, it is very easy to buy or sell Bitcoin, I do not have to depend on anyone, I can do it according to my needs, Bitcoin is decentralized and cannot be controlled by any person or government, the supply is limited, there is 100% freedom through the use of Bitcoin and inflation can be protected by holding it for the long term. All the advantages that are available through the use of Bitcoin are not available in any other asset. Overall, I believe that Bitcoin is the best investment.
I also choose bitcoin and believe this is the best investment but for me, it is not the best for everyone because each person will have their own preferences and criteria. However, I think bitcoin is the best option for most of us, not because of freedom or full ownership people often talk about. It is the best investment because it can give the biggest return which no other investment can give. This is the main reason we chose bitcoin, every other reason is secondary, IMO.

So being in a condition where we just have to be in a safe spot without the “risk” associated with power and conspiracy may still be doable. Gold and bitcoin are still something that we can still do although this is also not free of risk but at this time compared to oil the risk of being in bitcoin and gold is still a reasonable thing in the end.

Do you have any data that shows people are slowly abandoning gold and oil for bitcoin since the covid pandemic so far? Isn't gold a hedge against inflation, a store of value? I don't think people are turning to bitcoin just to solve inflation because gold is an asset that can do that too. Also, Bitcoin is not a good solution during economic turmoil as it is often dumped when the economy is unstable. It is just a speculative asset, unlike gold which is a safe haven. So it would be a bad idea if the purpose of switching to bitcoin is to solve economic instability.

However, I still think if you are familiar with the geopolitics you can start trading in the oil market as well. At the state level, it is possible to accumulate and store oil in huge volumes, as China does, for example, while it has a raw material appendage that sells oil to China for pennies. But even with inexpensive oil, huge investments are needed to build oil storage infrastructure, which a private investor is unlikely to be able to afford. Therefore, gold and Bitcoin, as assets in terms of accumulation and liquidity, are more convenient than oil for private investors.

when people discuss about potential alternative assets for bitcoin, gold is the first thing to come to mind but i do not see much saying oil when oil is actually one of the biggest industries out there and an asset that can be a good investment because it is scarce and in demand
so if we compare these two assets? which one comes out on top? which one should you invest in?
first of all their key differences are that bitcoin has a fixed supply but since oil is being consumed its supply fluctuates and varies by macroeconomic factors or geopolitical ones.
both are volatile markets. when global liquidity is high, they both rise but both fall when global liquidity is low. they are both being mined in a sense. bitcoin mining require extensive and advanced technology while oil extraction, refinement, and exportation also require expensive utilities and infrastructure. in terms of storage, you can store your own coins but oil investment doesn't mean you actually have to own and store buckets of oil but you buy ETFs or you invest in companies involved in oil production.
so which one is the better investment anyway? the answer is still BITCOIN. bitcoin has been proven to rise over time and also has bigger returns. but oil is not well known for being a good long term investment. many are also working to create substitute for oil for energy. so which one is your pick?
One thing you must understand is the flexibility of investing in Bitcoin, anybody across the globe can easily wake up any time of the day and say he/she wants to invest in Bitcoin, all the person has to do is to probably have some money and take the first step. This is not the same with the oil sector, yes we understand that oil is an economic asset that has been helpful to mankind in the last 100 years, but trust me the complexibility in that sector is so rigid that not just anybody can survive against the big players. So in times of fair play I will choose bitcoin over and over again because it allows me invest at my own convenience, regardless of the big guys that have Whales of Bitcoin asset, I can still go on with the little I have and make a name for myself.

Between Bitcoin and oil, everyone will naturally choose bitcoin because Bitcoin is the best coin of all time. On the other hand, there will be no much interest in investing in oil because when a person goes to invest in oil, he needs to know about that oil and about the company and about various other sectors. Although the price of oil is increasing day by day, it seems that bitcoin will definitely be ahead when compared to bitcoin. If someone wants to learn about bitcoin, then he can know it well by doing a little analysis online while sitting at home. That is why bitcoin is the best place for investment and risk-free investment.

If you ask this question in the forum, all of the answers will be against oil and will support Bitcoin. Because the forum name is Bitcointalk, all of the users here are somehow familiar with Bitcoin. We all know how we have to invest in Bitcoin, but for oil I don't think most of the people even know how to invest in oils. Even for me, I still don't know how I could invest in the oil sector, most probably something like ETF or Forex. So I definitely will choose Bitcoin to invest from my end.
Though oil investment also has potential, it's not for everyone. I like to hold the assets myself when I am going to invest in somewhere. I can hold my Bitcoin in my own wallet, but we can't really store oil in my custody. We always will need to find some other alternatives to invest in oils. Even gold investment is easier than oil investment; at least you can keep it in your custody. In the overall situation, including ROI, Bitcoin is supposed to be at the top.

If someone can take the time to learn about bitcoin, they can do the same with oil and invest in it. But the problem is they will still choose bitcoin because its profit potential is greater than oil or any other investment. Not because bitcoin is the best currency, safer or easier to learn. Likewise, many of us consider bitcoin as the best investment because its returns are the highest, nothing more. Because the purpose of investment is profit and our main goal is also profit, other things are secondary.

Hardly anyone knows or participates in other financial markets and bitcoin is the only market they know. So it is no surprise why people choose bitcoin. But if you ask this on a stock market forum or a world economic forum, I don't think many people would choose bitcoin anymore. Instead, they will choose oil and talk bad about bitcoin the same way we talk bad about gold and other investments. Overall, they are all potentially profitable investments, and everyone will have different investment preferences. So each investment will have its own group of loyal investors, we should not just look at what is going on around and assume that the whole world thinks the same as us.

How are you going to store a barrel of oil in your house though? And I don't think that companies that sell oil doesn't sell to an individual by the barrel, they're probably going to waste time doing that anyway. That's why gold is such a good alternative investment because you can keep it for yourself and it's really difficult for other people to steal it away from you if you know how to hide it. You also forgot to mention that oil companies and magnates are making sure that oil is the only fuel source that we need, remember when old billionaires like Rockefeller of Standard Oil connivingly coerced scientists to tell the public that oil is scarce and that it's a valuable product when in reality, there's so much abundance of it and these oil billionaires are just trying to make it look like that so they have more control not to mention that these people or cabal is responsible for suppression if not total removal of innovators of alternative fuel sources.

I would prefer real estate over oil. Oil is influenced by a lot of geopolitical issues and difficult to understand which news affects the market badly or nicely. Those who have been trading in oil as a commodity should continue to do so, why take the risk of diversifying your attention and money?
If you like oil, continue doing it, but I am comfortable with bitcoin and the other assets I hold, I would continue to invest and trade in those only.
Again like someone said, this is a bitcoin forum, hence the responses will be one sided.

In my opinion, we should not compare anything to anyone because they control their own place. If we focus on oil, which can be given to every country and can set a price on it at will, and relations with it also become good. Similarly, Bitcoin controls itself in its place and increases and decreases people's money, which works quite high in its place. Now, what is better than them? In my opinion, if we want to get rich quickly, we have to turn to oil because if we start selling oil in 5 to 6 countries, we will start getting a lot of profit, which will come in a few months. If they invest in Bitcoin, they will have more profit, but for that they will have to be patient, which may be difficult for them. But what you have said is absolutely correct and should be so, that is why oil invests in its place and Bitcoin invests in its place.

There are some things that we can't touch especially if it's just for procurement as a hedge for ourselves and I don't think the oil sector is something that ordinary people like us can touch too deeply.
Agreed with you mate, the oil downstream sector investment may be profitable but it isn't ideal for the common investor that may have no touch with the unique drivers of the market, you have to be an already existing business mogul to excel in that industry. It shouldn't be a starters base for an investor. Unlike gold and bitcoin that shares most similarities as asset class, which a starter can slowly and steadily conveniently accumulate Moreover, crude oil isn't a risk on asset just like bitcoin with high volatility that brings high returns under a speculative market cycle which makes the asset recommended for a long term holdings.

Bitcoin and oil are not two assets that should be compared. They are different kinds of assets. I think the major similarities between them are that they are mined, but in completely So they are not a "bitcoin or Oil" type of assets. They are both assets that you can buy and diversify.
With as little as you have, you can purchase Bitcoin and keep accumulating as time goes on, but it's not the same with oil. You'd need a reasonable amount to oil assets.
