Makes it accessible and profitable If you're into manufacturing industry. It's truly, One man's trash is another man's treasure. Non perishable goods are a win-win because they can last for a couple years and still be so useful.

This is the first thing that comes in our mind when we hear the word junk shop (metals) and then, there are still a separate business that buys and sells old and damage items for cheaper prices. A metal scrap can go in rust and this makes them to deteriorate faster. Environment or weather can also affect them. Perishable goods on the other hand can still be a 'win-win' as long as we have built a trust and satisfaction already with our customers, because we can guarantee that our products will never get spoiled.

Like OP mentioned about junk shop, I believe the used car business must be another one which is highly profitable. They buy used cars for cheaper price and spend small amount for repairing and painting to make it look like a new and selling again for a profit. They get 2 margins (from buy and sell) and having own workshop for repairing and renovating and on this also might be making some profit hence probably making profits from those all 3 processes.

It's high time we understand that it's not just about the container but the content that's in it and so we don't need to judge a book by its cover. Yeah, I don't think someone can underestimate such business as a junk shop. What the OP said is true. I can see real time proof from my neighbourhood. Like you mentioned, it is all about what is inside of a product and when throw away for a minor malfunction, they will sell/recover its other parts for good price. They are buying trashes from us for cheaper prices like for scrap price but when they extract copper kind of metal from that and selling for good price.

Now it seems like, no business in this world could be underestimated because all of them might be having its own type of potential and when we are running that business with dedication and in right direction then we can make huge profits over the time.

While people think that filthy things are worth nothing but to them, it is precious and that means money in their eyes.

We can't misjudge people who are in this business because they're helping to clean environment by taking those junks and at the same time, gives money to the one who sells it to them and they make bucks out of it.

I agree everything can become a source of income even scraps that are disregarded by people and it also help the environment because they take this junk and scrap metals and recycle it in order to create money and people can buy their scraps because new ones cost a lot higher than ones on the junk shop. It's usual to notice a restaurant here, coffee shop there closing shop. Where I'm living right now, computer shops, bars, and other memorable spots have turned into something else, but the junk shop nearby where kids, who are all adults now, used to sell their metal and copper scraps is still there.

What is interesting is how these junk shops are not too many across the streets that it creates that much competitions which threating the existence of some others whereby terminating them in the way that the restaurants, tea shops and what have you are littered across the streets and are turned to memory.

You're right. In my own country and neighborhood, there are only a few secondhand shops. In fact, I only know of one in my neighborhood. I once wondered how they could make money like that, and after investigating, it turns out they actually resell the items to other parties on a large scale. This is determined by the store owner buying from the seller and the other party buying from the store owner. I've seen many people working as collectors in the secondhand shops I know in my neighborhood, so I think this business is indeed profitable.

I've seen several videos about waste processing or recycling, and one thing that caught my interest was coconut fiber. Coconut fiber, which is usually thrown away, can actually be turned into useful crafts, such as brooms, flower pots, bath mats, and much more. I tried to delve deeper by researching the machinery needed to turn the fiber into soft strands, but it turned out to be quite expensive. Some of the people I saw in the videos managed to profit from this industry.

Also, in several videos, I saw people throwing away electronic devices that were actually still useful. If I'm not mistaken, I saw these videos from Japan or Korea. While some people might throw away items they deem useless, others utilize them by selling them.

Learning to see this value is the most important point in anything including in business, when I was a child, I liked to take used plastic and used iron to sell to collectors for the sake of a little reward in addition to the environment being clean and also getting profit, That was my childhood thought until I grew up to see that the collectors sell used goods collected from the community to the used goods processing factory and they turn plastic bottles and plastic bags into plastic seeds again and they sell them to manufacturers of goods made from plastic, their business is big even though it comes from the garbage in our environment, their wealth can be billions because of business activities like this.

Dealing with thugs any business can be very difficult to run they will ask for money or will face directly that we cannot do that business, you can do a more political way for you to be able to open a business, this is where it is important to have a relationship that is much stronger than the street thugs, such as having a relationship with the leader or with the local security agency, your second-hand shop will get support, they will not dare to disturb if you amend the support that can guarantee your business remains safe, thugs only need to eat and fear their master or stronger than them then they can submit.

There is no other way but to get support because whatever business you will run is likely to get interference.

There was a book authored by one Pastor and the title is 'cash In your trash.' I may not exactly arrange the title as it originally is, but the author made sure to emphasize the importance of turning waste/trash to cash, simply because he believes there was so much money in the trash business and instead of young unemployed people to look into this industry to earn for themselves, they wait for white collar jobs and waste years of their lives doing nothing and being a nuisance to their families and society at large.
