SourceSo yeah, Ghana has just pass a law that legalize the use of Bitcoin and crypto. Ghana has now joined the league of African countries that have legalized the use of bitcoin and crypto. African is coming Many African countries have been quicker to embrace Bitcoin than other countries, which often face lengthy legal processes to pass crypto legislation. This demonstrates their seriousness in embracing digital financial alternatives; in other words, they are preparing for a much more open future. Well, don't be decieved, some of this governments that have quickly legalised the use of bitcoin and crypto currencies in their country may have done so simply because after a little study, they understand perfectly well that there is absolutely nothing they can do stop the revolution, and this left them with no other option than to quickly legalise the use of bitcoin atleast to be at peace wit their citizens who are already into the system. Remember that common saying that "when you can't beat them, you join them", I don't trust any government any where in the world to really have the interest of bitcoin at heart since they are all after one thing, power, and bitcoin is a currency and a system that takes that power away from them and gives back to the people who truly owns it, so what I think and believe is happening is that the government that are delaying the legalisation of bitcoin in their own country are simply finding every means possible to ensure that they don't loose all of that power, so they are like, "you want to hold bitcoin? Fine, but we must find a way to still control the bitcoin you hold".

This is a bold and and good step, I wish my country did same... I think most governments are now starting to see the need and the growth that Bitcoin can bring to them in the long run. Before now, so e African countries have laws that restrict the use of cryptocurrency and does not favour anyone that uses them ..maybe dur to the rise if fraud.. but now that they have seen the potential in it I hope other African countries follow suite. This will be a major breakthrough for citizens and many who deals with crypto... Truly Africa is coming and we will take over
They have seen that no matter what this currency keeps on growing even without the intervention of the government. So why not take the advantage and gain from it, right?

That's an amazing thing Ghana has done. I wish my country would make strides like this too. So, is anyone following this issue? Are there any Ghanaians or people living there on the forum? What benefits has this legal recognition brought you? Is Bitcoin actually being used in Ghana? Or has it remained just a symbolic gesture at the government level? I'm curious to know if it had any real impact on the general public.

Maybe they have learned that a lot of countries which legalized the use of bitcoin and crypto actually gaining profit from taxes by billions and they realized that bitcoin can't be banned due to how decentralized it is and no matter where the person resides, they'd be able to access bitcoin regardless. Any country that still banned bitcoin need to learn a thing or two from country that instead recognize bitcoin and let their citizen use it. It could improve the financial situation of the country and opens up their people into opportunity overseas.

I am very interested and happy to hear news such as this. This is indeed important news; with more and more countries legalizing Bitcoin, it will positively influence bitcoin in the future as well. This will diminish the market abnormality, but keep the price a little bit volatile yet grow more mature.
Congratulations to the community in Ghana. Hopefully, it will keep getting better and other countries will move to the next step and begin legalizing crypto, particularly Bitcoin.

African is coming Congratulations to them as this is one of the best step ever taken. Bitcoin is the future and any country still holding back to accept Bitcoin will gradually become crypto outdated and will begin to take further step when others have gone far. Iust confess it's a welcome development for them as now is the best time for the younger ones to learn more about Bitcoin. Decentralization is not what will be hidden from this tech age or new generation. We encourage other african countries to imitate and take further step as it will help to increase Bitcoin adoption all over Africa. Bitcoin adoption must increase in Africa.

Or maybe they've finally seen that bitcoin is not a threat to the government or any existing system like some nations makes it look like. Ghanaian are tech lovers and it's no doubt they are not missing out in the adoption of bitcoin. On the forum, they are not too renounce like Thier Nigeria brothers and while Nigerian government might be a bit silence regarding Thier current stand on bitcoin, we are hopeful that African countries won't be too relaxed regarding how they also tap into the move while everything is taking shape now.

For sure it made them convince to legalize the usage of Bitcoin then take advantage of possible benefits they could take accepting this coin. So looking at the statistics given by this site https://breet.io/blog/crypto-adoption-statistics-ghana They could really take advantage on the ongoing Bitcoin or cryptocurrency adoption happening in their country.

Governments if are capable enough, do know that they can not ban their citizens from using Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies so rather than trying to ban while they can not win, it's easier and more reasonable if they allow citizens using cryptocurrencies, and get more money in tax. It's like win win situation for both governments and citizens, and it can open more opportunities for Ghana to have business and financial deals and flows with other nations. We know cryptocurrencies and blockchains are cross border so it can be helpful for both governments and citizens. They only need to do some legal foundations in their nation while completely banning their citizen access to cryptocurrency is not a smart strategic policy.

Most countries are adopting to be able to bill people using bitcoin because since it's legalized they might want to tax people I don't know what the plan of Ghanaians are and it's a good thing that they want to adopt bitcoin which is something a few people will do because as it is now a lot of people love bitcoin and they want to do the best they can and the government can even encourage there youths to make use of bitcoin because that is one of the way they can make use of what they are adopting but its actually a very good sign of bitcoin adoption expanding in Africa. And that is what we have been dreaming of for a very long time the community I growing qnd that is what we want and with the support of the government it will even boost the economy of the county because bitcoin is a multi billion dollar investment that no matter what there are countries that will benefit from so they just make it interesting for most of this countries so let us try and emulate them because they seem to have a good intention to grow the youths of that country that is what I think.

Young president? He’s currently around 67 years or so for all I know and I’m sure he did this to be able to possibly regulate tax the around 3 million crypto users the country currently has and not to make Bitcoin a legal tender in Ghana. and it will bring them foreign investors that will live to establish different organizations that will attract more users in the country of Ghana to involve in bitcoin or crypto, and it will make their government to save some funds that will make them to invest in bitcoin which bitcoin is the king among other cryptocurrencies, it will make Ghana citizens to have freedom of using bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in their country and it will encourage other African countries to take the risk to make bitcoin and cryptocurrencies legal to experience the reward other countries that made it legalized are experiencing from bitcoin and cryptocurrencies investment.
The Ghanian government doesn’t have any plan for saving some funds to invest in bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, this approach just helps to indicate that using or trading bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies is actually legal in Ghana not unregulated or unrecognized.

It is a good progress for the whole continent if that is the case, african people should always have the right to access to crypto and the government should embrace it. I heard the USD rate in there is high because shortage of foreign exchanges, not all place but in some places. By opening up to crypto, bitcoin could be one of their alternative for international transactions. Bitcoin itself would also get a boost in on chain activity.

African is coming Africa always seems to be the pioneer when it comes to financial tech. I still remember how fast mobile payments and digital wallets took off there, even back in the day before smartphones and LTE existed. It’s amazing to see that history repeating itself with Bitcoin.
