There have been a lot of stories that have won a lot of money and yet, they're reckless and became broke afterward. I don't want to think that someone who's won a lot and even after taxes, that's a lot of money to waste. They can be reckless however they want with that money but it's possible that someone who's won that much will spend it in anyway they can like partying all day or even a year and it won't be gone. But I agree that to prolong the money that they've won, they need to be a good steward of it and either save and invest a part of it.
Unhappy stories get the closest public attention. That's why people who become broke after winning jackpots get the front page in newspapers. I also believe that there are also lucky jackpot winners who utilised their wins. They might be few, yet I believe some people didn't waste such big wins. They might have invested in business or lived modestly. The sad stories I have read about gamblers usually spent most of these wins on gambling hoping that they will get another big win.
