To summarize it all, learning about crypto or bitcoin in the social media networks can be very misleading for beginners due to lack of trafficking in the media. And most likely, the X platforms is directly proportional to entertainment networks. So users are mostly tolerated with their handles of posting anything there whether truth or not.
To learn about crypto is best adviced to follow specific platforms that specifically foster to discuss about digital assets and currencies such as here the bitcointalk but it always seem safer when you also do your research.

Most of us that are on this forum are still on twitter and some of us still share some insightful things on the platform. The question then is, is it that we only share good things on this forum and when it gets to twitter, we fail to share the right thing? The direct answer to this is an absolute NO.

The only challenge with learning about bitcoin from twitter and most of the other social media platforms is that, they don't actually regulate the information that's being passed there. So for instance, if someone sends a kind of click bait on his handle, it's not regulated as much as we have on this forum where everything you push out is looked into and the good ones are separated from the not so good ones and the false ones are completely trashed.

When you are a beginner, it is a good experience. Most people learn directly from their mistakes, which makes them better. I used to be like you, but as you go through the process, you will understand how these conditions work for you. You will work on your own experiences, and I also started being selective with the advice found on social media. Because in the end, we are the ones who reap the rewards, and they might just be trying to profit by getting many people to follow their predictions.
Looking at the state of social media, you have to understand that nowadays, when you carry luxury items, people will always be impressed by your life and start following their advice. They appear when the market is bullish and rising to an all-time high. But when the market is bearish, they usually disappear. Unless they are truly influencers in crypto. They could be a CEO or founder of a particular exchange or coin who continuously works on the progress of that coin or exchange, which is a different matter maybe you ca follow it.

Well, DYOR itself is a perfect advice, but it's left to the person to do it rightly. That's even why you need to also DYOR the place you are seeking knowledge, so that you do not seek retardation instead of seeking knowledge. The X today is full of influencers and those who just want traffic and engagements, all because of the money. This has clouded their posting ethics, and I hardly find a tutoring style on X. So, I support you, it's surely the worst place to conduct a research to impact knowledge.

There are personalities you would never regret following them on X, especially those seasoned bitcoin maxis. Perhaps you can always start with Bitcoin Archive and Bitcoin Magazine. X is a platform where you can get several things and whatever value you get from that platform largely depends on who you decide to follow. No matter how knowledgeable a bitcoin investor or enthusiast proves to be on social media, it’s always important to not only depend solely on whatever information and know you receive from them, always remember to do your own due diligence at all time as this also helps to filter the noise, misinformation and the hype that engulfs the crypto market today. People share whatever idea they have about Bitcoin but that doesn’t mean that these information is accurate or authentic, and that’s why it’s important to sort these users and find users who are truly experience in sharing long term insights that are grounded in long term thinking and not just short term trend.

I think to say that this forum is more than enough is not right, because you can get information from anywhere, be it on the forum, on x, medium or the like. It's the final conclusion of what you read that counts. I'm not the type of person who is easily satisfied from one source, but more comparisons actually give us a broader picture. They provide information but the decision is up to you.

AFAIK, Twitter does not offer much to beginners in their early phase of trying to know what the word 'crypto' is all about. It is easier to find a lot of accounts there that claims to be professionals while contributing information that are not entirely true. But at the same time, that does not entirely mean that there are no single piece of helpful information. As far as learning is concerned, it shouldn't be tied to a particular resource imo. Take YouTube for example, a lot can be learnt, but understanding every single thing can be a bit difficult as well, which makes trying out other informative resources for a proper breakdown also crucial. This forum is a power house for that, because certainly one person out of the thousands/millions, certainly has an answer to what you don't know about.

I won't deny the fact that there are still a few users on Twitter, that still passes the right information, but I honestly don't see it as a good resource for beginners that wants to know detailed things about crypto in general.

Social Media like X (Twitter), Meta in general, are the last places i will go to seek information. Those places are the most free to air forum to spread fake information, they are places for spammers to promote dead projects to the public without proper scrutiny.

As simple it may be to some and difficult to others, if anyone wants to learn about Bitcoin, they should find the Bitcoin forum, and anyone else who wants to learn about Altcoins should find the Altcoin forum.

Twitter? Well there might be good handles that are grounded and share nice informations about Bitcoin but I don't think that's the best place that beginners like me who are not very grounded should go to get knowledge about Bitcoin. Also, someone who's ignorant could easily fall victim to scammers over there, this forum is one of the best place anyone could learn about Bitcoin, I don’t know if it's totally free from scammed since I recently joined in the 3rd quarter of last year but from my observations it a bit secured and better than other forums  and platforms.

It is true that there is people worth following on Twitter, but since it's like finding a needle in a haystack, the task of DYORing is almost a superhuman task. I used to use that social network to inform myself about cryptocurrencies, until I realized that it only serves to entertain me, at the cost of losing time and believe rumors and information that was nothing more than noise.

In short, to carry out good research, as in many other things, less is more, and I do not regret having abandoned certain sources of (mis)information.

If you often visit social media, including Twitter, for learning purposes, then it's fine; if you consider social media posts to take action, then probably it would go wrong. Influencers are paid promoters most of the time; if a crypto platform pays them for something, they will write positively about them. If you follow them and take action according to their thoughts, then you may end up with the loss. Very rarely I found any social media influencers who work for their followers – almost zero.

But from the forum I gained a lot of knowledge, though I wasn't introduced to the forum at the beginning of my crypto journey, but when I started investing in crypto, I knew the forum. I meet with a lot of crypto platforms and know them very well, discovered a lot of scam platforms on the forum and exposed scammers. Day by day I improved myself from the forum and became an established member and an established crypto user as well. So I feel the forum is enough if you can use it correctly for learning purposes.

The best place where influencers can get the best of you is Twitter, over 90% of all the crypto content on Twitter are bad for beginners, they are full of misleading information, so don't go and do something stupid and start blaming Twitter for it, users on that platform are looking for users to turn into Exit Liquidity. They will end up telling you to join their YouTube channel where they will fill your head with more nonsense.

It was on Twitter that I was told that Ledger is the best hardware wallet.

DYOR has always been one of the best suggestions to crypto enthusiast in the crypto space most often, the advise does comes in handy usually because it is one that does not get the any one responsible for your decisions but you. yeah like you did mentioned, twitter will not be the best place neither will it give you the best idea about the subject matter you are looking at getting, but i think this post of your would have been more impacting if at the end you had suggested some platforms from which we could be able to go get the right and best information to get the us better educated about the crypto space than we do have already, personally i do visit some of the websites of the various crypto projects to see the information about them out there and then some other time i check on other crypto forums to get the best and authentic information as needed.

I think it's better to assume that, regardless of where you got the info, you need to verify it. It's not like every single post on this forum is correct to begin with. Sometimes social media gives you a good lead on trends, and so on. Basically, just read a lot. It's important to remember that some apps also offers a wiki, so that should be your primary source if you want to learn details about how they work.

People on Twitter are just that.  People on the internet.  Why others are using the advice of Twitter people for their own life savings is out of my levels of understanding.  We used to be smarter before.  Or that is what it seemed like at least.

Too many people are overly confident in what they are saying, to a point where they are trying to convince others that their plan is the best.  It is a selfish way of thinking often caused by their despair to make sure their plan works.  And some how, a lot of people actually follow them.

The Internet is absolutely FILLED with so much legitimate and useful information.  It takes a short search to reach it.  But I suppose it is more convenient to do what others say and when things go wrong it is more convenient to not accept it was your fault for listening to them in the first place.

This tbh. I don't use 'X' much, but over time I have shortlisted some useful handles, have 'em bookmarked and use 'em regularly to stay up to date with certain stuff and it has worked out fine.

Its interesting how many individuals view X/Twitter as a substitute for having a financial advisor when in reality, for the vast majority of users, it is merely a large-scale platform for self marketing.  Many of the in-depth discussions surrounding "next big altcoin" or "next Bitcoin" and similar bs are often conversations amongst individuals trying to find a buyer for their own inventory, so they can cash-out.  This could pose an overwhelming noise factor for new users as they may not know how to filter through all this information appropriately.

While I find value in using Twitter for real-time news alerts (protocol hacks, security breaches, etc.), I also believe there are tons of individuals out there that provide valuable content.  you just need to be picky about who to follow.

Do your own research is no longer difficult. If it was the early days of cryptocurrency, we would consider it difficult, but now, we have understood the pattern of the market and DYOR isn't difficult again.
Secondly, tools and platforms of doing research was difficult then but now they are rampant.

Instead of one trying to confuse themselves on twitter, it is better to know the basic rules of crypto investment; such as...

• Invest what you can afford to lose
• Invest for long time
• Consider DCA method
• Bitcoin is your best friend

I don't see social media as a place of learning; social media is a place to raise awareness and for people to say whatever they like, whether it is correct or not. Making social media a place to learn doesn't make sense because you can end up reading the wrong information.

Social media is just like the real world, where people talk positively about Bitcoin, and there are also some people who say negative things about it. Research should be done in the right places, and social media is not a place where one can obtain substantial knowledge; the chances of being misled are high on social media.
