Remain self taught is better because the growth in crypto is fast and the curriculum won't catch up.

Moreover, not everything need to be taught and honestly knowledge absorption in school isn't that high to begin with. Just let them learn the basic and figure things out the same way people figured tax and its mechanism by their own.

Sometime, not teaching is better than teaching. If anybody is interested in crypto, they'd put some time delving into the world of crypto and learning it. What matter is teaching them how to count, etc.
That's true, cryptos movement are so fast and it changes from time to time. But with the likes of sticking to topics like Bitcoin and sort of smart contracts and blockchains, that can be the standard of the curriculum. While most of us here are self taught, I think that the next generation who are interested in learning more of it deserve the guide that comes from the early adopters and that's why it's a good thing there are some institutions that are interested to add that into their curriculum.

Schools shouldn't be doing price talk or shilling whatever flavor-of-the-month coin is trending, they should be teaching the primitives and the survival skills: what a private key actually is, why transactions are irreversible, how fees work, how scams work, what a seed phrase is and why you never type it into anything, and the basic idea of verifying instead of trusting.

The downside is schools move slow and curricula get politicized fast, so if you try to teach Bitcoin as a narrative you'll end up with outdated info and a lot of cringe.

Ah well, what can you do Smiley

Exactly. Schools shouldn't focus on discussing cryptocurrency prices, whether they're trending or any other token. The main priority should be financial literacy, focusing on security, and perhaps fundamentals, such as understanding private keys, transaction fees, the differences between each token's network, and how to keep your wallet secure. Perhaps this includes explaining the pros and cons of storing on an exchange and a cold wallet.

The real challenge lies in time. Technology continues to advance, especially now, where the pace is truly extraordinary. Those who don't stay up-to-date will be left far behind. Especially for those just starting out, it takes extra time and effort. A good starting point might be to provide a basic understanding of good money management, understanding risks, and especially security.

We can't replace education with anything in society because, education is the foundation that, sustains any development because the highest form of development is the development of the human mind. Bitcoin should be taught at the class room were you have different set of people because from different backgrounds with different view concerning Bitcoin. Learning it in the class room means that a wider audience is getting to be enlightened about Bitcoin and this is critical concerning Bitcoin adoption rate as many people with wrong views about Bitcoin will be corrected as they will be given the right information.

Another reason why I agree that bitcoin should be taught in schools is that Bitcoin is part of history. What bitcoin has achieved in the past years is something that can't be ignored. The impact and change it has brought to the world is now something part of human history whether people like bitcoin or not. Not everyone will support or use bitcoin but in a few years time, bitcoin will be everywhere and will be normalized.
Now let's not get it twisted, Bitcoin a part of history? I disagree with you even though I'm an investor but Bitcoin is not a part of history because it was created just yesterday compared to Gold and other historic things, I agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't think Bitcoin should be taught in school like other professional courses. Bitcoin is not a profession but a decentralized digital currency which can be used as an investment or used to save your money away from the eyes of the government like they monitor Fiat currency, teaching Bitcoin in school is going to make everyone forget about every other course because of cause everyone knows that Bitcoin is valuable already and i believe they should learn about Bitcoin on their own.

I think it’s a great idea that bitcoin is being taught in school but I think what matter most is how the economy works and the value of money. You can’t force a student to learn a very complex subject like Bitcoin and I believe that discovering BTC and learning how to use is very satisfying especially if you did it by yourself. The school should prioritize all the foundations about money so that everything will become easy once they get interested to it. I think teaching bitcoin is only possible if it’s being used openly in a certain country.

If there were a school about Bitcoin or crypto, I believe the cost would be quite expensive. This is all about money; those who study crypto and Bitcoin are also making an investment. Think of it like buying an online class with a professional mentor. However, this is general knowledge. If it is only the basics, such as an introduction to Bitcoin, its history, cryptocurrency in general (not in detail), trading, and analysis, that would be acceptable. It might be better if it were included as part of an economics subject.
Education these days is very expensive in general and if there is actually a school like this, they should not only focus on teaching crypto alone. If is crypto is the only option, then, indeed, it would be expensive the less the population that's interested in learning about it, the higher those who are there will pay. But if it's just like an added course to an already existing study, it will be way easier and less expensive, at least an added advantage to those who are in that discipline.

Although we are Bitcoin investor, we also need to be realistic and not be blindly biased. That's right, bitcoin is not a part of history and it's just a currency, a financial instrument. It is not the kind of fundamental knowledge needed for life, so including it in the school curriculum is unnecessary.

Schools should be places that provide foundational knowledge, develop and hone critical thinking skills, and cultivate life skills. Don't turn schools into places that teach how to get rich quick through speculative financial markets, where results depend on luck.

Teaching children how to get rich through financial markets, where outcomes depend on luck will completely destroy their cognitive development.

There are definitely a lot of benefits in actually teaching Bitcoin to school kids but as a technology and a decentralized currency. However, the problem is that Bitcoin comes with some attached attributes as an "asset" too, a risky one at that. It also brings a lot of investment talk and price discussion which are not healthy topics to teach to kids in my opinion specially considering the risk and the "gambling" nature of the market which is also attached to bitcoin called the altcoin market.
That's what I wanted to say. Bitcoin is an asset and it's probably the most recommended asset to invest. When kids will see Bitcoin's price charts and all the recommendations online about investing in Bitcoin, they might buy and save it secretly. It doesn't look a bad news from one side but on the other hand, it can revive risky and gambling-like behaviour in kids. I bet many of them will become interested in risky altcoins, NFTs and similar things, so it's not good.
To my mind, they should teach what cryptocurrencies are, how they work, and what blockchain technologies are. Investment theme should be taboo at schools to my mind and the focus shouldn't be on financial profit but on the revolution in payment technologies that cryptocurrencies bring.

I've always wondered what the content of Bitcoin education would look like. In my country, a semester is around 6 months. How will you use that time to 'teach' Bitcoin? How will the teacher test your comprehension? I feel like a quarterly seminar, or something, is more than enough to tell kids that we have something called Bitcoin instead of forcing them to learn how to math the algorithm to create a new block. We're not even talking about the teachers.

I agree with this. One thing a lot of people are failing to understand is that the educational system across the globe is not of the same standard. I want to believe that more than 50% of schools are not even up to standard in terms of quality teachers and school curriculum. Bitcoin education is fine, but how many teachers do we have, that can pass the right information. Maybe a once in a while seminar sounds far more better, with a need to improve the general quality of education and also promote entrepreneurship among these children.

Schools should be places that provide foundational knowledge, develop and hone critical thinking skills, and cultivate life skills. Don't turn schools into places that teach how to get rich quick through speculative financial markets, where results depend on luck.
I don't think that it's all about get rich quick if it's about these financial matters that includes Bitcoin and other markets. It's all about financial knowledge and management. This opens the idea that there are ways to be rich but should avoid those get rich quick schemes. The problem with most schools today is their foundational knowledge are mostly outdated.

Teaching children how to get rich through financial markets, where outcomes depend on luck will completely destroy their cognitive development.
Stocks, crypto, jewelries, real estate, precious metals and other assets and markets are not solely out of luck.

AmaGold70 , you made a vital point, it's no longer news on hie the children of this generation perceived things around them, many focus more of the out to what they are learning rather than that details of what they intend to learn. If Bitcoin is to be taught in schools today more than 50% of every class if learning will focus in the pursuit of Bitcoin, most our educational system where people are always afterba course that will be of more self employed, it will kill the educational system because many will go after the study leaving other courses creating some vacuum in educational system. In my view your point is extremely align with fact.

... should it be formally taught in schools as part of financial literacy?
I am one of the persons with the opinion that the current curriculum used in our educational system needs a thorough revision, and if the curriculum is revised, it is only normal that we would have subjects that consider cryptocurrencies as one of the topics that will be taught in schools. Maybe this has not yet been done because Bitcoin has not yet gained full acceptance.

While the adjustments have not yet been made, you can share your knowledge with students who show an interest in learning something new.

I think that rather than relying solely on individuals to learn on their own, Bitcoin and more general crypto education ought to be taught in schools.
If I'm not mistaken, several countries and several schools have created learning curricula about Bitcoin.
For example:
1. El Salvador Introduces Bitcoin Education in Public Schools
2. New Zealand Sets the Stage for Crypto Literacy with Digital Currency in Schools by 2026
3. The crypto craze is here to stay — now it’s even being taught in high school

Question, why don't all countries and schools teach Bitcoin in schools......?

Here we understand, even though Bitcoin is generally known and introduced by the wider community in general, including the government, in some countries Bitcoin cannot yet be used as a basis or reason for the curriculum in education, especially schools.
Yes, we may understand that everyone wants Bitcoin to be taught in schools, but the understanding is different, that is national life and thinking.

Well if I may say all what you have said is good but then did you consider if the teachers who are going to teach this next generation about Bitcoin actually knows what Bitcoin is? Yeah I'm sure majority of them may have heard about it, but not all actually knows what it is ,how it works, when it was invented ,who created it ,and so many more ..that said, with the rate at which the digital world is evolving, yes Bitcoin being taught in school would introduce a new way as to which digital money works . But then it would be more preferable if it's not a subject, just a topic because subjects becomes long and long, but a topic isn't it's simple and easy to understand, just an introduction to the meaning and it's history would be fine. That way it would create a little awareness as to what it is in case they come across it in the future, it wouldn't be something new...
Overall with their familiarity on Bitcoin  those who chose to learn more and become a crypto enthusiast in the future will have to still learn more by their self indeed self experience is very good in the crypto world. That's just it they must be interest and willingness before growth and adoption....

A lot of things should be taught at school, some of them more important than bitcoin, but it's not going to happen, because school is the perfect place to brainwash people from the young age. If the state really wanted the good of the people, it wouldn't leave school to focus on being a grade grabber, and instead would look after the real problems that grown ups have, financially and socially.

But, yes. In a utopia, schools teach you about the importance of self-custody, how the dollar controls the entire system, and how democracy fails to do the basics.

Education about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in schools is no longer far off dream but step that is needed to ensure safety of students in world where digital money is becoming norm. On this Monday, such nations as New Zealand have already introduced digital currency into compulsory financial literacy course of children as young as ten.  Some may say that textbooks are unable to match rapid rate of crypto, but schools offer secure, organized space that can teach children to recognize scam and learn math over hype truth of money.  Study in 2026 indicates that level of digital financial literacy is alarmingly low, and formal education is most effective method to make sure that all students, irrespective of their background, are aware of such concepts as scarcity, private keys, and rule of do not trust and verify. Instead of educating children about trading, schools ought to concentrate on principles of digital value to ensure that future generation is able to navigate future economy without making costly real life errors.

It would be hard for any student if everything about bitcoin will be tackled and will be taught about its complexity. So let's just focus on what's basic, understanding the nature of bitcoin, its function, its advantages and disadvantages, its volatility, and understanding the function of the private keys and how to protect it 24/7.

The rest should be well-taught already since we have internet that will continuously provide us those reliable information that we opt to see and understand. Everyone must do their own reserach if they want to understand more clearly about bitcoin and its cryptocurrency market.

Well, it depends as it both have advantage and disadvantage too but it will be good to do it or consider it when they get to certain age.
Which will enable them to have a good understanding of it, so as they can make an informed decision that will benefit them and profit them in so many ways and which can also give them the chance to be free from struggling much in order to survive in life.
But, this will help them to also know how to manage their finances, so as they won't have to spend unnecessary and they won't also invest on engage on what will not profit them and be of value to the society as well.

There should be special education on Bitcoin, made totally different from every other courses. Because some students find it difficult just to assimilate what they are being taught, imagine combining Bitcoin lectures and other classes together.
Because some students might not find it interesting, general, they will be more focused on how to get good grades in their professional courses and leave the school. Though Bitcoin can be used as a reference in course of explanation under cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin is better understood through self studies and personal research, here there's this interest or zeal to venture into it and acquire more knowledge, this is self interest no one is forcing the knowledge into ones head.

However, if bitcoin is taught in the class, it should not be the complexity of it but focus on the basics that could easily help the learners to understand more about bitcoin.

While fiat is essential, bitcoin as well is slowly becoming to be vital because people don't just see it as a profitable investment but as a convenient currency also that helps them create more fast and reliable transactions, compared when transactions are done with fiat.

With this, as people can gain more benefits from bitcoin, then it should also be given chances to be recognized and taught in schools.
