Has Online gambling replaced let's say social drinking as a stress outlet? I remember back then, me and my office mates will have this Friday night out after a week of working and we all know that there are stress in our work specially if you work on corporate world. It's high paced, there's no time to take a break and jobs keeps piling up. And so after a tiring week me and my mates will go have fun and drink until the wee hours of the morning.

But with the advent of online gambling, I don't think that we can get back to socialized with your friends and meet others in the bar because I'm seeing that online gambling is now the modern way to cope with pressure at work and in life in general? You just go and play and isolate yourself in your bedroom until you lose your money?

I think that I agree, it's a new way to relieve stress and working people don't have time to get by together and have sometime to drink unless they're on a vacation or day off. And with the popularity of online gambling and how accessible they are, that's how many of the working people does when they are looking for some enjoyment. They don't have to go out from their caves and after work just going back straight to home, open their smartphones and desktops and they're good to gamble. Deposits and withdrawals are easy as well since they're all online.

Online gambling allows someone to gamble at any time without going out with friends to the casino. As we know, when we hang out with friends, some of us will get drunk after gambling. While with online gambling we can play alone at home, we are still able to drink at house, as long as our family is okay with that. So online gambling can be said to be a replacement for social drinking, but it won't stop personal drinking (or drinking alone).

of course I won't force you to have same view with me, but I think it can be a replacement, especially if we are more better to alone than hang out with other.

I can see that other factors might influence whether or not to go to a bar with friends or something like that, but I don't think it has been replaced by gambling

Social drinking is much different from isolated gambling. Social drinking is not only a way to cope with stress but it also creates bond between friends and work partners and it's a way to enjoy the life after a stressful work day or even if it's not a stressful, the activity itself brings some joy to people.
I think that online gambling brings more stress to people rather than relieving it because many people gamble for gaining a financial profit and with the house edge above 0, it's impossible. You can't simply beat math. So, for these people, it's not a way to cope with stress and actually, it adds more stress but gambling is a fun activity when someone really does it for fun and not for money. By the way, it still can't take a place of social drinking because one is a social activity (we, humans, are social animals) and another is more isolated activity, which might only be a better alternative for introverts.

Not really. I think the main reason why we don't go out with friends or co-workers more often on weekends than before is that we are aging, and our weekend routine will gradually shift from drinking all night to just staying at home drink a beer or two while chilling on your front porch. Not necessarily gambling online. I mean, online gambling can be accessible anytime, and it's not the only thing that could ease our stress on weekends. So, there's no replacing this with that, we are just gradually changing, and it is constant.
We should always avoid online gambling as the ONLY outlet to ease our stressful work week. It's not financially healthy.

I think that's just your feeling because online gambling doesn't replace social drinking. It's rare for me to hear people say that they switched from hanging out at bars to gambling online as a substitute for that social interaction. Also, pubs and bars are still operating as usual and remain the main place for many people to socialize and relieve their boredom.

So this situation may only occur in your circle of friends and cannot be generalized to everyone.

I don't agree because here in my country, gambling already have a bad image, people are aware of the consequences especially corpo people knows the risk about gambling. So, they will not definitely replace social drinking to gambling to release stress because there's a huge difference. Some people preferred a genuine connection to other people, talk about life problems and dreams, that's where some goals are made in social gathering so you can't replace it by online gambling, it's not a solution for your stress, it might be another problem in the future.

People still prefer hanging out than doing a solo activity, social gathering is a huge help for mental health and of course to have a path in life, gambling will just lure you into some delusions and without a clear goal.

We shouldn't take anything as relieving stress because gambling or drinking can only be of help to you when you don't go against it. There are many people who ended up getting addicted to gambling because of taking them as a way to relieving stress forgetting that the more you are doing it without having control of yourself that is how you are making things difficult. No one can do without socialising with friends. It's just something that online gambling may not be able to eliminate no matter how widespread it might have become.. friends can decide to go out same Friday night, while drinking and gambling it's all about having fun and if we say gambling is fun, then it's will be more while playing along side friends.. online gambling is not going to change anything if we don't allow it to. I still have my group of friends whom we go out every now and then to hang out. And such outings are where we discuss a lot about life. It's just fun though as to me there will always be time for everything..

No! And those who think that gambling is a stress reliever will find out later that they are wrong. Instead, this fuel stress creates some problems.

But we don't think that drinking will solve it as well. It only leads in the opposite direction. We may forget our problems when drinking as we share them with our friends, but still, they will be remembered when it is over.

Even though both of them give us the dopamine as the major result but it's not entirely same and I doubt people who drink will chose gambling as an alternative; they might just add along with it. And in your case it's just a phase in our life, there are times we see drinking as fun and there will be days gaming as fun and now it is gambling which is fine and you just switched from one to another but on wider scale it didn't happen.

If it had replaced it, people would not have been going out for social drinking and clubbing that's why when you go to a clubhouse or bar during weekend, you will see how crowded the place would be and it will be bubbling. Social drinking can never replace gambling as a stress buster. Losing money to gambling leads to guilt and frustration while drinking can lead to a jolly mood and making new friends at the pub.

I dont support alcoholism but for a social drinker it can be kept in control and have a good time. You might even find someone of the opposite gender there too, one can always dream. But with gambling you might win some and you will lose more, leading to bad outcomes mostly.

You did not present any data to support your reason; you just mentioned your experience. It depends on the individual's preference: some like to drink, others to gamble online, and still others prefer both.
When something you do gives you satisfaction, and you use it as a stress outlet, it will remain until you decide it's harmful to you, so I would say it's not.
I know people who can do both, social drinking is a different activity, and so is gambling, not something that can replace either one.

I agree that I have a family now and spending too much time for drinking with my friends late at night will make my wife angry. So the question is how I can release my stress? Well, I found a replacement way to relieve stress without her knowing which is online gambling. Work is really stressful and sometimes people relieve stress by drinking, going to parties or playing games. For me, gambling seems to release my stress very well. Most of the time, I gamble when my wife is not at home, or I stay an extra hour at the workplace, which is enough time to play online gambling.

In my opinion, it’s a stretch to say it could replace social drinking, which is something we’re already used to. Besides, it really comes down to choice and the individual mindset of a gambler in any online casino.

I also think drinking and gambling are two completely different vices, right? It’s up to us which one we choose to focus on. While some gamblers drink while playing online just to feel more relaxed, that’s really all there is to it nothing more.

I think gambling and drinking are two different things, they cannot be the same, I always gamble consciously so that gambling is not a part of my life, some people like to gamble at home, some like to go out and gamble in casino, some like to hang out with friends, it depends on the mentality of a person. Not really because everybody still has their respective ways of easing their stressful day, even though gambling platforms are more common and everywhere but not every body still prefer taking off their stress that way , perhaps their are still some dudes that love hanging out in the ginning centre and other happening joint.

No one forces us to gamble and at the same time, no one encourages us to move with our friends to play bets or to take some stroll together in catching fun and making cruise with each other, what applies to each other may differ, we can't say that online gambling has really affected the way we gamble and the things we do together with friends in the past to present.
