Directed by a friend to this forum, still fueled by anger but I will manage.
I lost some Bitcoin that I mined myself some years ago, I used Bitcoin wallet named Electrom and I was able to kept them for five years, I don't have interest in anything else than Bitcoin unfortunately something happened to my laptop and after several months of using my laptop after repair my Bitcoin was moved out.
That's a story for another day, I got angry because I suspected the repairer and I still landed in trouble, what I want to know is how to be more careful with Bitcoin so that I will not end up losing it after few years of keeping it, I regret not selling but how will I know that I will end up losing them? It is my fault, I should have been more careful.
What should I do so that this misfortune will never repeat itself in my life ever again.
Humans are prone to forgetfulness and mistakes. You don't need to dwell on your actions. Learn valuable lessons from this incident and try your best to avoid repeating them.
I see several mistakes you can learn from, and I will list them one by one:
1. How to store your Bitcoin wallet.
You should keep your Bitcoin wallet secure and never let anyone access it. Furthermore, you should separate your wallet for daily use and your wallet for long-term storage. Personally, I differentiate between the two and store them using external storage, such as a hard disk drive (HDD) and a solid-state drive (SSD). For my everyday wallet, I leave it on my personal computer, and even then, I make sure it is safe from being hacked or touched by others.
2. How to repair it.
You can take your device to a repair shop, but you shouldn't allow your wallet storage to be touched. This means removing your internal storage before taking it to a repair shop. Besides that, I think you should learn to repair your own software. There are plenty of tutorials online, but hardware repairs may require a lot of learning and may take some time. Therefore, if it is hardware-related, it should be better to do what I recommend. The bottom line is, don't let anyone touch your wallet.
By the way, I once repaired my work laptop, but because it contained important data, especially government data, I removed the internal storage to prevent any unwanted incidents. So, I think you should follow some of suggestions, and learn from any experiences, including your own. Cmiiw.
