The truth is, the Nigerian dream hasn’t died..it’s evolving under pressure. For many young people today, it increasingly means building resilience through entrepreneurship, tech skills, remote work for foreign companies, or yes, emigrating for better opportunities abroad. Remittances from the diaspora are already a lifeline, and “japa” isn’t just escape; it’s often a strategic move to support families back home.

Yet this brain drain hurts: doctors, engineers, and IT pros leaving in droves weakens healthcare, education, and innovation here, creating a cycle where uncertainty pushes more to go. Culture plays a role too, our strong family ties and communal spirit keep many rooted, but daily uncertainties like overnight price hikes erode hope. The future holds potential if reforms deepen. non-oil sectors like tech and services are growing, and a youthful population could drive real progress if jobs materialize and security improves.

But honestly, waiting passively for the old dream to revive won’t cut it. The new Nigerian dream might be about creating your own path hustling smarter, leveraging digital opportunities, and demanding better governance while holding onto that unshakeable Naija spirit. It’s not the fairy tale we were taught, but with grit and collective push, 2026 and beyond could still surprise us positively. Hang in there Nigeria’s story isn’t over yet.

I think there was ever a time that Nigeria had a dream and even if they claim to have, it's just formalities, because a country with a dream will never act this way. The government really don't care about any citizen, rather they just care about their pockets. Nigeria keeps regressing in every administration and you tell me we have a dream. A country where we don't have common light, good drinking water, unemployment, corrupt leaders, no good infrastructures, our leaders are not accountable,  the list just goes on.
In my opinion we can only make ourselves better and forget about what the country or government can do for us. Our dreams should be how to improve our lives on our own and stop hoping on the so called Nigeria dreams, else you want to be disappointed by this country.

Reduce the pressure of expectations from others and you will not be sad. Trust yourself and gain skills. Travel to gain skills, maybe to a different country or to another village or city. You have to go out of the house to learn. Intelligent people do not sit around depending on the government's response. There are many poor people living a lazy life. Keep yourself away from them. Your life will change.

Nigeria as a country has no dream sincerely speaking, even the once had in the past has been destroyed, corruption has become the other of the day and complete disregard for standards, we also don’t pay attention to agriculture, education and skill acquisition all our leaders are bothered about is how to borrow money from foreign nations and sell our crude oil without any form of investment that will benefit the masses.

How can a country have a dream or vision when they lack basic foundations, we import almost everything, we don’t look for a way to improve on our own locally just like developed nations started gradually with continued progress until they got to this stage they are, our problem started as a nation when we stopped valuing our own cultural heritage, resources and locally made materials instead we now import everything from the white man, tell me how growth and development will come if we don’t improve on our skill and find ways to harness our resources by ourselves and transform them into refined finished products for our consumption.

We don’t have a dream or vision as a country, the only way things can take a new leap is when we first correct our faulty foundations, we have disappointed our past heroes and buried the Nigerian dream out of greed and corruption.

As Nigerians, the earlier we realize ourselves, the better for us. We should strive for self reliance or self employed instead of waiting for government. As Nigerians, we should acquire education, learn good skills and invest in ourselves as much as we can. When we develop ourselves with both academic and vocational training, it is for our own advantage and will help us confront or combat any situation that we may face as a result of unstable government.

Nigeria government cannot do every for us and if we rely on Nigeria government, it means we don't want to grow. If we look round the world or the Nigeria that we are into , the most successful people are not made by Nigeria government, rather the most successful people are those who built themselves without depending on the federal government of Nigeria through entrepreneurship and other skills.

Bitcoin can restore our hope in Nigeria. With bitcoin investment we can be financial independent, and our money will retain it's value. Bitcoin has made millionaires and has turned little investment into fortune. So if we can invest in Bitcoin, our financial dreams can be achieved without depending on the federal government of Nigeria.

Plenty dreams don die for dis we country, the challenge's wey the young ones dey face don make some people stopt to pursue their dreams, as government bad, the thing don trickle down affect the passion wey people get to achieve their dreams. But immediately some of this persons get the opportunity to go overseas, you go see how well dem succeed in achieving their dreams, this whole thing dey make things look like say the grass is greener on the other side.

If their dream nah only education, that means them no get dreams, a better country way get the interest of her people for mind will not do the way our leaders just they follow us they play, we know say we get our own role to play too but if our government step up the game and create more functional industries, if them sponsor so many things for the country, many people go they leave large and them go they enjoy themselves even without education. Imagine say even though you no go school, you get work way they feed you and your family, e go they very hard for some people to even just think about school because them already they comfortable and I don't think if our government can return such comfort in Nigeria. Make we buckle up and do watin we fit do to survive and also they hope for better days to come.

It's not easy at all, but what I always tells my friends was thanking God for sparing our lives to witness each day, ever since I wise up and start realizing how things goes in this country, I don't believe some of our dreams would come through any time soon, because the economy is getting worse day by day and people continue living, however the life we are living now is the life we prayed for, so I have seen and experienced so many things in life, but the main challenges now is how would the future of our children maybe?. The best thing is to struggle for the children's background in terms of education, not necessarily till they went higher in school and aquire certificates, the basics educational background is ok for them, teach them the business plans, let them open up on stable financial struggle and encourage them to invest early in any kind of profitable business in order to achieve thier goals in life.

The Nigeria i see in 2026 is a vision less  country, all we have as political representatives are parasites who lives and depends on there host without rendering and positive change in the life of its host. No doubt success comes from hard work, education, patience etc. But because of the leadership pattern in Nigeria, everything has changed and real definition of success changed from hard work to connection and may even get worse except our leaders that are busy chasing self treasures will revamp there thinking and focus on the betterment of our country Nigeria if not there won't be Nigeria in 10 years to come.

Di official Nigerian dream be O Y O meaning On Your Own, especially for our youths, if you de wait for Nigerian government to write your official dream e mean say poverty de wait for you. Clearly Nigerian government no get any better plans for di youth and dat na why di average youth de find ways to japa to Europe and America, where dem go get better life. Na recycled politicians still de rule us, di only work wey dem get for di youths na tugery and ballot snatching, di old cargoes no de ready to give youths any chance to excel. Our futures are in our hands as youths of Nigeria, if you have dreams to succeed you need to work hard without expecting any assistance, na our reality be dat.

at first, we will have to consider what we were told about Nigeria, what we are seeing as the day goes by every day by day, government that comes and go the policies they make. It's after all this considerations that we now no if there's a dream to believe in. How can a nation that has no job plans for its citizens be taxing it's citizens on everything knowing too well that majority of its citizens are not doing anything in the name of job. Sir/ma if you ask me I will say that there's no dream here
A friend of mine in the UK said that the UK government changes it's policy every two years
The question is does our leaders even have a blueprint that they are working with that will now serve as an assurance that by 2030 this is where the country will be
No dream to believe in
If you must survive in Nigeria then you must do you feel is right because surviver in Nigeria is a personal thing thank you
