Who runs the @Bitcoin account on Twitter (X)?

I think somebody just opened an account on Twitter with the username Bitcoin and has so far grown the account with so much followers couple with a verified tick on it. But if you follow it through with an investigate further, we will see who is truly behind the account given the fact that there is a verification already and verification on Twitter deals with you giving some means of identification. I've been seeing the account, and funny enough I follow it too on Twitter, the question of who operates it usually rings in mind head.

Some people are very predictable, which is why we shouldn't take such accounts so seriously. They do not represent Bitcoin anyway. Some random fellow can open similar accounts on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, etc., gain a following, and start posting nonsense because they think it's their personal account. Other times, they can get very greedy and sell the account to someone who can afford it and will later start posting unrelated stuff because they think they bought the account

There is not much we can do about it.

Whoever runs that account is an idiot. People follow it because they want to see memes or Bitcoin-related stuff, but when they push political content, it irritates people since it's irrelevant to Bitcoin. But that's the way it is, since Bitcoin isn't owned by anyone, anyone can claim the name and post without thinking.

That account that has about 8.2M Followers has been fully politicised. I went through some tweets (from today till December) and observed that its political exposure started recently. The person running the account wants to turn it into another social media channel of the White House. Politicians are not members of the Bitcoin community because we don't have a similar agenda. Hence, such a platform should be apolitical.

If you see this impact it can be very dangerous, because there can be a misunderstanding, everyone knows that bitcoin is neutral and accounts like this with very good growth, we don't know who is behind the scenes playing it, for those who don't know this, oh maybe it's from the bitcoin developer community, and there will be a lot of misunderstandings that will occur about this account, I hope that those who control this account can be in line with the principles of bitcoin itself, if not, it's better if we just report the account if it violates functionality.

I deleted my account from that social network immediately after Mr. Mars took it over and I haven't regretted it for a moment. What I, as an unregistered user, see when I visit that account is 100% content related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. If I hadn't read your post, I would have had no idea that someone was using that account for political messages - but these days everything is political, so I'm not at all surprised that Bitcoin is being used in that way.

Whoever it is isn't just making themselves look stupid, they're making all of us look stupid.

They are only making themselves look stupid i have to say, because anyone who understands even a little about BTC knows that the network is decentralized and there is no official BTC social media account or anything of that sort. So, such an account does not represent the BTC network in anyway at all, it only represents the thoughts and beliefs of whoever the handler is, who in this case seems to be an idiot.

The problem is that many people don't understand a thing about Bitcoin except that it is a digital currency and with it's name being affiliated to an account that is propagating political issues they will think that Bitcoin is partly about politics. But we that understands what Bitcoin is that it is not affiliated to any government being that it is decentralized. Bitcoin doesn't have any social media account so we won't be deceived by any misleader that is using it's name to propagate political matters. I guess there's nothing we can do about this account since anybody is free to choose a name that has never been used before.

He must have been using that account for a long time, using that username, so it was easy for him to verify the account because all you need to do is make a payment, and then it's done . He used the account earlier and got verified, so it went to him. I just don't know if it's possible to complain about verified accounts that are used for other things, since the name they used is not a person's name. Maybe it's possible if many of you have complained about the misuse of this username.

In the past, it was a good way to get news related to crypto, but now there are so many spammers and hackers using that platform it is not advisable to use it anymore. I also rarely open it.

It is obvious that this account is being used for monetization and mostly to drive political agenda. With the introduction of users being paid based on how much activities they get on their account by Elon Musk, most users will not want to post things in line to what their account was created for, they’ll go for posts that will help them get more reactions in order to get paid more at the end of the month. Blue tick is no more a criteria to know top accounts, anyone can buy them now, so I don’t see blue tick tag as much value like before.

That's definitely not a real Bitcoin account, but a fake one, due to Bitcoin's inherent anonymity. Even now the creator of Bitcoin remains a mystery so the account could be considered fake. I'm certain the account is managed by someone pretending to be an official Bitcoin account as there are currently no official Bitcoin accounts on any social media platforms.

A beginner might think it's an official Bitcoin account, but if someone has been familiar with Bitcoin for a while, they won't believe it. Even today many people still claim to be Statoshi, but their goal is simply to gain attention and capitalize on Bitcoin's unique anonymity.

Needless to say we are living times in which everyone is paying attention to politics, even those who are not so political and people who have access and control over such an important name on Twitter like @Bitcoin will feel tempted to use their account to push for whatever political agende suits them the most. I would have no problem if they used their own name or a different account completely unrelated to the name of Bitcoin, but the fact he is using this handle to share political stuff when Bitcoin does not have political stand, will only make people to associate Bitcoin with the political right, with a tendency to the far right.

Anyways... It would be better if someone from this forum had access to that account and used it to share actual information about Bitcoin and less on whatever is happening in the United States.

This guy could easily make $20k a month for just writing these stupid posts. Imagine how much a politician could pay that dude to write a post. It just blows my mind how people can get rich by reserving names on the Internet.

Checked up that account to discover that it's been existing for more than a decade. Makes me wonder how silly the person handling the account is, if such person had got to know about Bitcoin for that long and created a special account for it when it's not even necessary then he supposed to acknowledge the decentralised nature of Bitcoin and respect it instead of linking it with something political.

Also, if you check properly you'll see that it's changed username for about 4 times which means that the original owner of that account might have sold it or changed the initial name to Bitcoin, to promote and maybe passed on to someone else who decided to use it for political agenda, so silly of him.

That might explain it.. because of the way the X algo works, it makes sense to post inflammatory clickbait... if people argue in the comments about how stupid it is, it only works to your favor because they are driving more attention to your post.

That platform really does bring out the worst in people & rewards idiotic behavior.
