What I learnt from getting Hacked

I just completed the digital forensics to know how he got access. It definitely wasn't from a phishing link.. it was a trojan.. Apparently I downloaded a file, a presentation template... I had to pay for a premium antivirus software to scam through the enter PC. It took a while because I have a lot of files mainly from school .. all the materials and textbooks I use are inside and I make slides a lot for presentation...
I've detected the malicious file .. apparently when I installed the template into my PowerPoint, he was able to get access

ThankGod say you done know how the thing take happen and how to prevent it. Similar thing don happen to me, but na with phone no be my PC. Ah go download game wey i see for Facebook, immediately i install the app, na so so my phone start to they control himself. The only time i fit control my phone na when i restart the phone, the safe mode only last 5 minutes. After then the malware app must have start running and taking control of my phone. The next thing I saw were access to my Gmail and trust wallet. What saved me is that after restarting it again, i quickly used the 5 minutes to factory reset my phone. I lost my things that were not backed but it was better because I saved myself from loosing my Gmail and important apps.

That was a close call. It pays to be technologically savvy no matter the profession or trade we practice in the real world. One wrong click or download can ruin a long term plan or leak information that may be used or sold on the black market to hackers and scammers alike.

I use good password security, I don't download unknown apps that don't have good details about the developers, mostly if they are unavailable on play store or iOS store. Storing seed phrase is still a challenge because I sometimes forget where I saved them unless I use a coding system I developed to turn it to a rhyme and save it somewhere unsuspecting but very close by.

I try to understand and connect this story but for some reason I am unable to do that, the ops did not provide us much adequate information as to how the hack happened to him and which of the platform that was hacked he mentioned crome and then Whatsapp and telegram control for a few moments, well the thing is that hacker's work's with the information the get at their hands, and most times through an insider informant.

I think it was quite clear... He had remote access to the PC.. so basically he could access every app and software installed including Whatsapp, telegram and chrome... He logged me out of the WhatsApp and telegram.. he actually modified the telegram unto his own profile... Took me a while but I was able to reset the account. The used chrome to access exchange websites. He didn't have to know the passwords because my Google password manager is active on the chrome...

It's good to hear that your funds are still there and they haven't been hacked. It's actually bad to hear that someone has been hacked because a person is working very hard to increase their Bitcoin holdings. That's why I do something, which is that I use a secondary phone that I keep only for Bitcoin holdings in the wallet and I don't do anything else with it. And I write the seed phrase in different pages in my notebook with numbers so that even if someone accidentally looks at them, they don't understand what these words actually mean. I haven't been hacked in any way yet.

This hacker tried to use my Google password manager ( because it is logged into my chrome on my PC) to autofill crypto exchange websites to log in.

Dat autofill thing nor be for me at all at all. I nor dey like make sites even rememba my passwords. I dey like enta am manually by myself. I dey like take my time for anything wey money dey inside.

Do not store your seed phrase digitally, yes it may look more easier but it's has more risks. Any breach and someone else can get access to them and steal your funds...

Nice security measure. Otherwise u for cry had I known. I still dey pity those wey dey save dem passwords on their PCs.

The cyber space is one hell of a space that everyone ought to be really careful while trading because regardless of how long you've been in the space, if you're not in the toes, you will end up being attacked and if you're not security conscious, you risk loosing your asset to the wrong ones .

Most times, logging your account into multiple devices can be an advantage and at the same time a disadvantage. On the first part, you're able to still access your Google account from one phone in the event of another being missing but at the same time, if your device gets into the wrong hands, it's still going to be a one for you and is a damn risky thing to do.

You say you don know how the hackers take control your PC but you no tell us how them take do am. Na say you click phishing link way them send you or na another thing been happen? They say prevention is better than cure, and person like you way dey into cybersecurity suppose dey cautious pass regular people. Na why I won know which format them use take get you.

I was also thinking about this, maybe op had clicked on a phishing link mistakenly on his pc and got hacked. One thing about using a pc to roam the internet is that you can easily get hacked. That's why I don't log in sensitive data on a personal computer.bid rather use a phone to do all I want because to me the security systems on most pc are easily compromised. Like op said, one cannot be too careful. I still remember him making lots of thread on security but he as well was hacked. You just have to be ready for the worse case scenario that might happen to you. No one is praying for such but take good preventive measures to secure your data online..

Hackers fit be anybody not necessarily the people way dey close to you so e dey good to do your investigation before you start to suspect people. OP don talk how the thing take happen. If you scroll through the thread you go see the explanation way he give.

Lol I'm sure you should have realised how wrong this statement is. There are countless ways hackers use and people close to you just happens to be one of them. Someone living a continent away could hack your PC and do God knows what and you'll be damned. Ever heard of a keyloggers? Or spywares?

Distance is not a barrier for you to get hacked the only barrier is proper info and most of them can buy that information from the dark web depending on how profitable they see the whole thing.
