Getting Weird Messages on Telegram? Read This

I am sharing this because I received a couple of messages recently.

Only recently? I receive few of those on the daily basis for years now. I got so used to them that I would start worrying if I stop receiving them. 

I used to troll them in the past, chatting with them just to see how soon they will switch conversation towards scam, but throughout the years I insta block anyone who contacts me on Telegram with similar stuff

Yes, I received up to 7 "hi"s last month and 3 already this month. I didn’t bother replying to any of them to the extent of having to entertain what they have to say or offer though...

That's the right way to treat such unsolicited DMs. Ignore them. I tend to see anyone who sends me a DM as a potential scammer, except it's someone I know or expecting. There's even warning to that effect from every group/project on telegram that, "admin will never DM you". I don't take that lightly.

I noticed most were just recently created accounts, like a day before or the particular day they messaged me, and after a while, like two weeks, they got deleted.

It's a commonplace thing on telegram. That's why I'm highly disappointed that Durov, Telegram's owner, isn't doing anything about that.

This setting also have disadvantage. There might be genuine people who want to contact you through Telegram, this setting would block the access. Business people or those who offer services might not find this setting helpful. Telegram users would have to keep upgrading their knowledge about scams, so that these criminals can be easily identified. People who are also not moved by uncommon financial offers because greed is one major way many people have been scared.

I agree with you. This is one of the downsides of my recommendation and it is not generally applicable. It differs from one person to another. In this case , let me it is tailored for people not in the category that you mentioned. Strictly for people who are private and only have chats with folks in their contact list. As for being updated with latest scam tricks, I support that and everyone should stay on top of it.

As long as it DMs you, with a complete full name and no bio or everything on TG, it’s 100% bot or prolly just want to take advantage you. Big fish dont dms, if they dm you in crypto means they want something from you. Scammers are everywhere in crypto, and these aren’t the only script they use but the tip is, if they want something or offer a negotiation, it’s 100% scam. Don’t fall for these kind of scammer strategies, if you are a newbie expect that experienced people will not spend time to you.

That's how I was on my own and I received a message from one person. Only knows where he got my contact but I'm very positive he got my contract from a group chat, he can't convince me otherwise because my telegram is an old account, I had lot of groups and channels that are full of spammers and inactive teams. I don't know the scammer intentions but if he is not after something, he wouldn't have message me trying to convince me if I'm interested in Temu sales and all that, told him to stop there that I wasn't interested in anything he has.

OP is right, don't entertain what you are not going to accept, the more you allow a long conversation from a stranger, the more they try to win you with some words, before you know it they will paste you a link that has some script that can destroy your phone and computer and then probably take something from you. How strange telegram can be, I have real contact of people I know in that telegram and I never for once see their dm, it's always the people I don't know.

How tricky these guys gan be. This is them trying to make you comfortable with with them. They start the conversation, make sure you are  comfortably  and talk to them freely because they feel you have built the confidentiality in them and then.they strike with their underlying plans that they have been brooding and waiting patiently for you to still.play along with the scam.

Plenty timez. I have been receiving such messages, especially in Telegram warning me about scammers, telling me instead of wasting my precious time fooling myself  about investing and trading. That they will show me the best platform. You know this people will make you believe is easier.  The worst part of it. They started asking me for my details.  The way and pattern surprised me.
So I stopped opening there messages.

Such things has been happening for while now and is more common in the telegram, because they think that they can find the users easily to fall in their victim’s and that’s why it’s that we should be very careful by clicking strange links that come to our telegram channels or any of our social media's.

Because one thing about those scammers is that if they see that they try this way way and it couldn’t work they change it into another way just to make sure their mission successful, so the best thing is what you did earlier when ever they send messages just ignore their messages; from there they know that this person have get their plan.

These aren't pig-butchers from Dubai overseen by Chinese bosses by the way - they're just random degens hoping to skim you off a few bucks.

Just block these users and move on.

Their message patterns are the same. They will ask for some details, and then they will offer something greedy. In the meantime scammers will try to motivate you either to invest or may ask for tradings, etc. Somehow they will scam or hack your funds. So better block them directly when receiving such messages from an unknown account.

I’ve received so many messages like this asking when the bull run will start. Blocking them immediately feels like the right thing to do. Does anyone have tips on how to avoid getting these kinds of messages from different accounts?

Not surprising to see those situation happened if you are active on telegram also on discord. Since everyday I receive lots of messages offering obvious scams. Its crazy that this scammers didn't gone and it seems they use lots of disposable accounts.

So same as what you have said much better to block them directly and don't read all their messages. Since they are attempting to scam us if they do that. I think people run this is syndicate and maybe they have group which do this kind attempt to scam people primarily those new investors.

Scammers on Telegram can certainly buy premium accounts, but the activities they engage in often get their accounts blocked, so it's unlikely they'll regularly spend money on premium accounts. However, as users who don't want to see unnecessary ads and receive spam messages from people outside your contact list or who aren't premium account holders, you can restrict anyone you don't want to follow.

Every time I experience this kind of random message with any social media such as Telegram and just a random message the same time is I do cut off immediately because I keep advanced thinking that they just wanted to a piece of information to you most of them wanted to caught your attention and earned your trust but of course this was only for those newbie in space that they pretending help you around. The things I do always overthink right there is they have the opportunity to verify your details such as the phone number if visible in telegram (^{which is i do recommend to turn it off in the settings}) they might get use those credentials, next is if you are active in your trading platform and what kind of coin you are trading. On that basic information, they can get an idea and put into their mind what are the possible attacks they can create.

Immediately cut it out and ignore. Better dont entertain.

Well for a year it's about $25, so I'm estimating for 3 months it would cost like $6 or something. I don't even remember how much I paid for it.

It's not like it does anything useful though, it's just a bells-and-whistles upgrade and apparently the scammers all want the blue check.

Every time I open Telegram I always get a new message from someone new sometimes I wonder where they got my contact information. But after I learned that these scammers were able to get my contact information from crypto groups because I join many crypto groups on Telegram. Every time I receive a message from someone new they always end up offering something tempting sometimes even sending a link.

But after receiving several messages like that, I decided that blocking every message from someone I don't know is better than responding. Blocking people like this is very tiring because there are messages from strangers every day. My advice is also not to join too many crypto groups on Telegram because that's where they get our contact information. Yes, through this forum I've also learned a lot about how to recognize scammers in crypto especially since scammers in crypto are unavoidable they will use various methods to find victims.

Yes. I constantly receive tempting messages on Telegram and I've lost count of how many Telegram users I've blocked. Scammers always have the same pattern they're polite in every first chat and if you respond they'll offer you lucrative benefits.

Scammers often target greedy victims, because when we're greedy, we're easily tempted by offers of large profits. Greed is the primary gateway for scammers, so we must eliminate greedy behavior. When messages come in especially from new people we'll immediately block and ignore them. Every case should be a lesson for us all and this thread is excellent for beginners to avoid the signs of scammers in the crypto world especially on the Telegram platform.

Telegram is a platform that allows anyone to register and exchange messages. That is why we often receive messages from unknown individuals on this social media platform, and most of them are scammers. Personally, I often receive such messages on one of my Telegram accounts, which actively engages in various discussion groups. I have also joined various Telegram groups as a requirement for participating in airdrops. So, I think that is how my contacts were accessed by them, so they saved it, then sent me messages which maybe was full of deception.

I advise everyone to simply ignore such messages and block them if necessary. Don't even try to interact with them, as you might be tempted and fall into a trap, especially if you are a beginner.

Also, you can report fraud to the official Telegram bot channel, whose the username is @notoscam. You can find it here : t.me - notoscam ( I just tried it, but it doesn't seem to be working right now, or is it just me? )

In addition, you can also block unknown users, and you can try looking at your Telegram settings.

I don’t remember receiving such messages and that’s obviously because I’m not very active on telegram and I avoid joining or being active in public groups (on almost all social media platforms and not only on telegram). If I do, I make sure to leave it as soon as I get the information I was looking for. btw, my privacy settings are set to allow messages from everyone.
If you are receiving such messages, then you should check the groups you have joined (especially crypto-related ones) as that is most likely where scammers/spammers got your contact info.

Scammers take full advantage of privacy feature of telegram to launch attacks because its easy to remain undetected on telegram. If someone is using telegram then he need to remain extra careful while using that platform. Today everyone is aware of not to click on links and open files send by unknown users. Moreover we must not share any of our personal information on telegram because that can be handy for scammers. Just few simple precautionary measures and we are safe on telegram or any other social media platform.

That’s exactly why I said in my previous reply that I’m against (or at least don’t like) blocking random people from sending messages. Anyone, even with basic reasoning, should be able to recognize when the person he is talking to is trying to scam him, especially when scammers use old tactics like “visit this link” or “guaranteed trading strategy”.
Telegram is a messaging app and we are supposed to use it for that purpose. You may sometimes receive genuine and interesting messages even from random people who are not in your contacts list.
