In my opinion, time is the most important thing to pay attention to, or prioritize in managing a healthy or responsible gambling pattern. I often advise or remind everyone (including myself) not to gamble during productive time, which means we must prioritize productive time, whether it is for income-generating work, family or loved ones, and including learning new skills, as the OP mentioned. Therefore, let us realize how important it is to manage it well. Don't let gambling ruin your time, let alone your finances. Gambling can never be a sure source of income, since there is no guarantee of profit here, a person is always in uncertainty, frustration and stress, especially when he loses in excessive gambling. If we were able, we would not have the mentality to recover the loss, but gamblers expect to win more and lose more, as a result, they do not have the ability to accept that loss, due to which they ultimately have to go beyond the game more in the hope of recovering the loss. Addiction affects us from all sides, it negatively affects all aspects, financial, mental, family.

For me there is no issue with engaging in gambling.  Those things stated by @OP happen because the gambler lacks self-discipline and time management.  If only the gambler knows how to use their time wisely, there will be no missed opportunities or wasted time.

Remember, gambling is created for entertainment, so we must use it as is and not use it to earn money as a person engaging in gambling.  Just like any entertainment, we need to allocate time, budget the needed money and always have self-control.
