Are you cautious about cleaning or your score?

I focus on reporting the most obvious examples of spamming. It is not because I want to improve my score. I just think it would be too time consuming to report every bad post I come across. In some cases, I’ve thought that something was obvious spam, but the moderators didn’t agree and my reports were marked as bad.

You really can’t worry too much about the accuracy score because there is some degree of subjectivity and mods will have different levels of strictness.

If your bad reports is less than 1% of my good reports, you are doing it right. Personally, I care more about keeping the forum clean than I am afraid of a report being marked “bad”. Tbh it’s hard to make mistakes when you use this guide.

if you are reporting based on the a good score then reports you are not so sure of you'll end up not publishing which in my opinion is not fine for really cleaning the forum.

"Bad" reports used to feel like getting stabbed in the back, until I realized that a few Bad reports mean I'm just testing the limits of what is acceptable.

I don't really believe this. If a bot would report every new post, it would have thousands of Good reports per week. But it's wasting time for Mods.

I don't need a badge, I just want spammers to be banned faster (again). It's very discouraging to see spammers get away with their automated chatbot spam, while it takes human time to find and report them. If they would get banned instantly, I wouldn't have to Ignore them. It's such a waste of time to report spambots over and over again.

I believe that it should always be understood that any accusation must be supported by evidence. Therefore, when I report violations to the moderators, I try not to combine everything that I don't like. If this is an AI post, it naturally needs to be checked first.. If the message does not relate to a specific topic or even does not contain meaningful content, you should also consider the reasons that prompted the user to write this message. You can often look at the user's message history to understand why he came to the forum, often bad posts are not the only ones. And yes, bad reports are quite undesirable, but not because of my own rating, but because of how I react to posts, and how much my thoughts coincide with the opinion of the moderators.

A good reporter that is not reporting often may have 100% accuracy. A good reporter that reports often can not have 100% accuracy or the chance of having it is very low. The accuracy is not what that should be considered.

If I feel a post is not up to standard, I report it independently, I never look at the score. If I see a bad post or a post that is not up to standard (if I feel it), it is my responsibility to report it, then I leave the responsibility to the moderator. It is my responsibility to report, it is the mod's responsibility to respond positively or negatively to the report.

I am far behind in terms of score, but I am not disappointed, it is not that I will always be right. The effort to keep the forum clean motivates me to report for another new low-quality post.

I think theymos rounds up: you're currently at 99.0026% accuracy, and it shows 100%. I'm at 98.916%, and my "score" shows 99%.
That means you're literally 1 Bad report away from dropping to 99%, and I'm (give or take) 900 Good reports away from reaching 100%.

I reported the obvious ones I encountered. Other than that I simply didn't pay much attention to it. It is a voluntary task in the end. When I see a one word, one sentence, obviously spam post I can't ignore it but I don't try to enforce all the forum rules.

It is probably a legend now since there is no need for new staff members but 10-15 years ago when the forum was new theymos was likely checking this stat (along with other useful ones) when he was still hand picking staff members. I kind of know how he picked the merit sources since I still keep the PM from him when he made me a source so I can come up with an educated guess about it.

There was a member who liked to brag about his report achievements on the regular basis, but he left the forum some time ago.


As for OP's question, I really don't care about my report accuracy percentage. I am more annoyed when I see that "unhandled" tag permanently on the reported posts, as I would rather see it marked either bad or good, even if it means my report percentage going down.

Me too, although personally I would rather have Unhandled than Bad toward my tallies. I'm like a few hundred reports away from my score going from 99.9% to 100%, lol. Its been a goal years in the making.

Maybe there can be an Unhandled purge where all reports flagged as such in the system are deleted. We all have 0 Unhandleds again, and anything that was terribly important can be rediscovered and re-reported.

I do not look at the score while reporting and of course the aim of that report option is to also reduce the work load from the admins and I do not think there is any special rewards based on how much post your have reported. If your dream is to keep the forum clean the most make sure you reports post that aren't worth it, instead of basing upon your scores and to what your could get your how many post you have reported dispute the value of your reported post as you aren't reporting for a bad post or ai generated post.
