I'm wondering if a parlay bet with Palmeiras + Flamengo at total odds of @1.94 would be a good choice.

I swear that before reading your idea, I thought the same thing 
The games in this round are very difficult to predict, but maybe Palmeiras and Flamengo are a good bet
Even with the poor start by both teams, I still believe that playing at home after two losses, they can win both games and make for a good parlay

Since it's just starting out, there's not much to do other than bet on the home team or the favorites/strongest teams. I think the only option is to bet on Palmeiras and Flamengo winning, to have some certainty, but even then there's not much certainty.

The only team that is financially healthy and self-sufficient is Flamengo. The others depend on investors, like Cruzeiro and Palmeiras (which uses money from retirees to fund the team lol). I think these amounts are way too high for the Brazilian standard, totally out of touch with reality, but the clubs are paying them anyway. They want to have firepower to compete on equal terms with European teams… I just want to see how far this is going to go.

Flamengo NEED to win at least one important title this year to justify all the money spent
Campeonato Brasileiro or Libertadores, otherwise will be a huge fail (because of the money involved)

Well, this year Flamengo took a very different approach... they signed fewer players but decided to spend more.... just for Lucas Paquetá they spent 260 million of brazilian reais paid to West Ham, right?

But I think that is right!! Last year Bap vetoed several signings to balance the club's finances, so this year they are changing their strategy since they had record revenue and have plenty of money to spend... I hope they get their choices right.

Regarding winning something... that is relative and depends of a many things. Do not forget that we'are talking about the most difficult football championship in the world, so do not count on winning the Brazilian championship yet.

Flamengo = 2 games, 0 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss (currently position 12)

Palmeiras 5 - 1 EC Vitória (end of game)

Palmeiras = 2 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 0 losses (currently position 2)

Grêmio 5 - 3 Botafogo (end of game)

Botafogo = 2 games, 1 win, 0 draws, 1 loss (currently position 5 )

I remember hearing news that the Flamengo coach said the players are still at a low physical level, so I thought that wasn't true, so I went to the news site to see what he said and to my surprise, he did say that. But look, this year:

1) Flamengo lost to Corinthians

2) Flamengo lost to São Paulo

3) Flamengo lost to Fluminense

That's 4 consecutive games without a win. I don't know what will happen next... but I'm not betting on them. I see this as a season where we achieve nothing. The team doesn't inspire confidence, at least not in me, because the recent results haven't been good. We're doing very badly.

From that Grêmio vs. Botafogo game, you know what's most incredible? Botafogo had more possession, but Grêmio had a 100% success rate on shots on goal. Every shot on target was converted. A very good match to watch, indeed.

I'm glad I didn't bet on the Brazilian league games, because I would have lost my bet. Lately I've been losing on bets I make in other leagues, I'm going through a bad luck season and adding that to betting on the Brazilian league would accelerate the loss of my entire bankroll.

This has been a terrible start to the season for Cruzeiro, with zero wins in 2 games and occupying the last position in the table. I don't know what the hell is happening to them; even newly promoted teams are doing better than them. I keep wondering if they'll be relegation candidates this season. I know it's too early to think about that, but if they continue like this, then they could be relegation candidates.
