Exactly! It happens within the gambler when he truly wishes to stop gambling. The responsibility is on us players to control our gambling urge. But someone invented self-exclusion (like that can solve anything), and now casinos must have it because of the rules & regulations. But most of the crypto casinos have a weak (sort of speaking) self-exclusion program... and some people are trying to find the holes. Maybe self-exclusion sounds good in theory, but in reality, it's easy to bypass, and it exists to protect casinos, not players.

I think the self exclusion option from a particular casino would be less helpful if someone is really battling with addiction and is really serious about getting over their addiction, this is because just as you’ve rightly said, it’s more than easy to continue with another casino after being restricted in their casino. If a person is really serious about getting rid of addiction, then they should restrict themselves completely from gambling and not just a particular casino, even if this may not competently eradicate addiction, it’ll definitely go a long way and make the healing process less difficult.

Yes. For someone battling addiction, it is useless it is only helpful to someone who is trying to stay responsible in gambling.
In the process of managing risk, a gambler can set self-exclusion for a period of time, after that, they can continue gambling when they feel right to do so.
Self-exclusion and addicted gambling will only make things worse, as they will discover new ways to satisfy their addictions.

This feature is like a feature that can indeed be an important part for casinos but not too important for gamblers because seeing from what is happening nowadays we must know that this feature is just a form of formality just in case even though it is not too useful for gamblers because we will definitely not use this feature.

Their intention may be good to limit as well as want to get eligibility because indeed a good site will definitely provide something like this for its players but they also realize that this feature will not be widely used because the mindset of gamblers certainly boils down to the same thing.
Why this feature is still there is to prevent interference from the government or policies where the site is located so that they also do not avoid problems so that even if the feature is not really needed, they will not just throw this away to anticipate the worst.

Casinos offer that option because they legally have to. It's part of bigger narrative of helping addicts and it's probably not the end goal, but just a pitstop before more regulations. And while it's not very effective, it gives a signal to everyone that this is an actual problem for people who are unable to control themselves.

To a normal person, taking responsibility seems easy and straight forward, but for an addict, any hurdle to start again helps not to act impulsively. Just like with smoking restrictions, their goal isn't to prevent you smoking. They just make bigger hurdle for you to do it. And those restrictions have definitely helped me to quit smoking.

Again, restrictions aren't meant to help people who don't think they have a problem, and some laws in society don't exist to prevent people without problems doing anything. Those exists for the less fortunate.

It's quite easy to say but don't forget those personalities that finds it difficult to adapt to self discipline, they demand for something that will push and bend them to do what they ordinarily can not do on their own. If they want to stay away from gambling for a week or a month, without really having something that will deprive them from doing it they can not keep to their promise and will go ahead to play. People like that needs the help of self-exclusion feature to help prevent them from gambling. If you want them to seek support from the people that are close to them, I also hope you know that due to shame, some people might not want to seek for such support from people that knows them.

On paper, self-exclusion sounds like a good concept, but i feel most of these betting companies just have certain features so as to avoid or protect themselves form criticism... “block me from the app so I don’t gamble.” But in real life, it is never that simple especially if the person is already addicted which if someone needs a feature like that the chances are that they are already addicted. If someone truly wants to gamble, closing one account doesn’t stop them, they can open another account, use a different casino, or even play the same games somewhere else, the urge doesn’t disappear just because one door is closed infact the needs to play is what will motivate to find another source to gamble. So while i can understand the feature just being there to kind of protect the casinos it doesnt really do anything  as to help addicted gamblers or just gamblers in general.

A Gambler can choose to self exclude and then after somw days open a different account. The most important thing is for the gambler to actually be disciplined enough to stop totally.

There's no much work,but the thing is any gambler that's ready would need to be held responsible for their withdrawal from gambling addiction.Its nobody's business if that person chooses to also be inconsistent and unserious with the self exclusion process.It usually works best when the gambler wants to change.One major thing I like is that it paves room for a pause;a pause that's enough for some people to break bad habits and increase strong recovery.

Self exclusion will not work if you are addicted to gambling. I have a female acquaintance that said social media is not making her productive and the time she should be doing something productive she is on TikTok and instagram so she decided to use a low phone that is mostly for calls, messages and games. She has her laptop for work use but she only succeeded the night she started because it was late in the night she began.
The next morning she go her phone back and was even more addicted.
Self exclusion will not work on gambling addiction you just have to gamble with discipline.

Recovery from gambling addiction is a door that must be crossed by oneself. Addicts can ask for help and get that help in different ways, from friends, relatives, professionals... and I believe that self-exclusion is also helpful. But these are not enough for themselves, because the only key to recovery that works is in the gambler's hand.

As I said in another topic about self-exclusion yesterday, although it is criticised by many people because it "doesn't work", it is still a great feature. It doesn't make miracles, but still helps if you really want.

And your opinion is the very same as mine, I've always made it clear that until technologically, we reach a stage where If and when a gambler self excludes himself from one online casinos, he or she automatically self excludes himself from every single avaliable and not yet available online casinos, until we reach this stage, the self exclusion features on casinos is absolutely useless, some gamblers may claim otherwise but the reality remains the reality.

Some one I know has self excluded himself from one casino as a result of addiction to gambling, but that very same day, he signed up on two different casinos and still ended losing about $150 bucks, and I asked him, what did he gain excluding himself from the other casino? And he couldn't say a word..
Gambling addiction is something we deal with internally from within ourself, self exclusion from casinos doesn't help.

I agree with you and i also feel that the self-exclusion feature is just to deceive gamblers into believing that a casino has a way of helping those who has falling into addiction but the reality of it is that it doesn't really help that much since a gambler can still open account with another casino and continue gambling. It's just self discipline that is important because if a gambler can be able to discipline himself when he has fallen into addiction, he can decide not to gamble for as long as he chooses and stands by his words.

I have thought too that self exclusion would have been more effective assuming there was a shared system that connects all online casinos or landbased casinos, where a gambler can easily self exclude himself from all online casinos by just activating the self exclusion service from the source and all casinos linked to that source automatically blocks him from their services. Unfortunately, there is nothing like this. The kind of self exclusion service we have is not enough to make an addicted gambler stop gambling. If one door closes, they'll quickly open the next one and gamble as if they have no issue they are struggling with.

At least I am not going to believe that self-exclusion would help to prevent gambling addiction. Because I have seen a couple of cases of people who, after self-exclusion, tried to make a deposit and stuck funds there. Means they are still gambling somewhere else. Also seen a couple of users request to unblock accounts. You may self-exclude from one or more gambling platforms. But there are a lot of gambling platforms that exist. Easily could create a new account on another site to start gambling again.

Unless gamblers behave themselves, it's quite impossible to come out from the gambling addiction. The platform just keeps that self-exclusion option to keep them safe from the legal authority; it's just a formality. We are the ones who have to take action if we want to come out from the gambling addiction. Otherwise self-exclusion won't help to come out from gambling addiction.
