Simply put, DT1 members have influence much like leaders in the real world. They are not “normal” members. They have a powerful voice and followers/supporters. That said they should be held to higher standards over other members and refrain from behaviors that ultimately result in disgraceful discourse which effectively leads to less valued discussions. It leads to derailments and deflection over solving topics. It creates an environment that is based on popularity contests vs the main topic a member wishes to discuss. It creates a dynamic that leads to less engagement. It’s problematic. They should be mentors which exhibit exemplary leadership characteristics in order to positively lead engagement. Not acknowledging this as an issue is an issue.
Nope, I think it's wrong comparison with world leaders. That probably would fit more to forum staff. IMO, it wouldn't be ok at all if they would start calling users iditiots, morons and etc. While regular users, I don't see issue. Yes, maybe it's not nice, I wouldn't communicate in such way - that's not my style.
Like @joker_josue said, I don't even know who exactly is on DT1. I don't know about others, but before replying to others I don't check whether he is on DT1, DT2, he is regular user without trust score or he is forum staff. I talk with all people in the same way. I'm actually would be interested to see specific examples of toxic behaviour from DT1 members. Because I haven't noticed that someone would be doing it on consistent basis. I remember how forum looked maybe 8 years ago. Then it was toxic indeed. There was some users like TMAN, Lauda or some other who were quite toxic indeed, like you them or not. But now I would say that situation is quite ok here.
After all, maybe there is no need to exaggerate things which is happening here. It's just an online forum
Well, I don’t want people to get confused. I said leaders in the real world. I’m not talking about “world leaders” as you put it. I think that makes quite the different. By no means have I compared DT1 members to presidents of countries. So for sure that comparison is wrong and I wouldn’t twist words like that to fit my narrative.
I am happy that’s not your style to curse members out when you disagree with them.
Regardless of whether DT is displayed, the fact remains that they form part of the hierarchy. They hold leadership roles, empowered by admins and essentially elected by the community. To foster a stronger community, DT members must be held to a higher standard and accountable for toxic behaviors or abusive rhetoric. I’ve explained why this matters multiple times already, complete with links to real examples—it seems you may have overlooked them.
I’m glad you see improvement now; perhaps that’s a personal luxury, or rule changes have genuinely enhanced things. Nonetheless, lingering issues deserve attention and resolution. I suspect you haven’t reviewed the full thread, as it contains the details you’re seeking—this isn’t hyperbole. That said, since embarking on this “crusade” (as some term it), I’ve observed real progress. Highlighting such behavior has exposed it, while also drawing scrutiny to me—interpret that as you will. Yet it reveals much about those who engage, those who lurk silently, and even those who abstain. Everyone is free to perceive and express as they choose; judgment follows naturally. I endorse the rules here and their underlying principles. I condemn abuse and misconduct. Though my stance may alarm some, it remains respectful and principled, rooted in professionalism, integrity, and character.
