MetaMask launches Tokenized stocks and ETFs!

MetaMask has launched Tokenized stocks and ETFs through Ondo Finance[1]. Transfers can be done 24/7 while trading is only 24/5 (as you would expect from stocks markets). This feature is available outside of the U.S (with no KYC required) with a few restricted countries:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, China (Including Hong Kong), Crimea, Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), European Economic Area, Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR), Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions (Ukraine), the city of Sevastopol, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Korea, Eritrea, Iran, Libya, Malaysia, Myanmar, Morocco, Nepal, Russia, Singapore, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Switzerland, Syria, United States, or any of its states, possessions, territories or federal districts, United Kingdom, Venezuela.

This shows that regulators still have their hands on our necks, and this claim remains in limbo. Technically, I imagine their censorship is more aggressive than stablecoins. As is common in crypto, those that confidently advertise permissionless often still have emergency buttons that can lock from behind; it's like most online casinos.

Some of these services and apps that we used to be proud of made a complete U-turn thanks to greed. When the privacy issues concerning MetaMask came up some few years back, that's when I knew it was game over for them, and nothing much surprises me any more about them.

I can say that MetaMask and other wallets like them are moving on to the next level where they're also embracing the traditional finance that has also adopted the essence of crypto. IMO, this is good for someone who like to dive into the other markets but if you don't like it, it's just best to avoid using it when you don't like that they're starting to become centralized. They are no different from the CEXs that we know of and have been using for a long time.
