I live by many old sayings. I’ve found that they have helped me at times to understand or cope with various situations—like the classic “ This too shall pass,” which has gotten me through tough times by reminding me that pain is temporary and better days are ahead. That being said, perhaps sharing some old timers knowledge can help others in their journey.
I’d like to ask the members here: What old sayings do you know that have resonated with you? What do they mean, and how have they helped, inspired, or influenced you?

Not sure I would call it a saying that inspires you necessarily, or even if it's a saying at all, it's more of a quote
But surely it's a saying to me that does some explaining whenever the world or how things work stops making sense.
"Hard times create strong men, Strong men create good times, Good times create weak men, Weak men create hard times" from the novel: Those Who Remain by G. Michael Hopf

Thanks for adding this! I know the quote well and I believe it to be true. I appreciate the response, if you have more I’d love to hear them. That said, I have another purposeful quote that hits strongly. “ I gazed into your cup to ensure you had enough; you peered into mine, fearing I had more.”

Yes at times situations may appear to be so difficult that one may even think of giving up on the dreams he have wished for all his life because you think it can never come to reality but the ability to remember those motivating saying like :the too shall pass will stand to give hope that know matter how hard it appears to be, one day it most be over and once joy shall come. As for me, I never forget this saying that : All fingers are not equal. In life we know there are different kinds of people, those born with a silver spoons and those that where born with know spoon, the ability to realize that you can never be me and I can never be you makes one stay focused in life. So we should not compare ourselves to others as we all can never be the same

Weldone OP as this your post helps to call for reflection and it gives a self reminder that I'm in the right forum. You might just have written this post but trust me you have done a great work of inspiration ti many. Reading experiences and quotes such as this give strength and reawakens you in areas you might have felt weak over. We are all adults fine and good but most times we need these kind of reminders that our struggles pain are not forever plus we are not the only ones passing through difficult times.

It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. It is one of those proverbs that needs to be scrutinized repeatedly today. We all choose to curse because it’s easy but lighting a candle is just so difficult.

Learned something new today, exactly the world we are in today the opposite, cursing darkness is now more prevalent in today's system and society, adding my own saying, (it's better late than never) this is another reminder that no matter how success gets delayed if you keep chasing it you definitely get it in the end.

It's not what you don't know that gets you in trouble. It's what you think you know for sure that just isn't so.

Such old sayings as this too shall pass, which you have just said, are very powerful in assisting us to keep things in perspective, to accept the truth of life that it is always in motion, whether of joy or of sorrow. This is most applicable to all people because human problems do not vary much, just in their shapes.
I have a old sayings that I always have as a motivator when I feel lazy, tired, or hopeless. Where there is a will, there is a way since as soon as I recollect it, I get inspired when approaching problems or challenges, particularly when my head begins to get congested.
