How did a newbie wear an avatar?

The same thing happens, with some users still having animated avatars.

Back then, that was still possible. Those who never changed their avatars still have those. If they change them today, they can't have them again.

As far as I know only myself and Vod still have animated avatars.

Can a full member + account delete his post history and derank himself? While doing so also be able to keep an avatar uploaded? I think I remember someone deleting posts and losing activity and such, so this makes me curious.

Yea sure. I am locking the thread now because I have gotten enough answers and it was quite helpful and also learned something new especially about the derank. Thank you @CryptSafe for your suggestions and of course thanks to the community.
