Bitcoin does not need institutions to survive because it has being surviving since creation till 2024 that bitcoin ETFs joined the bitcoin bandwagon. The only thing is that adoption will be slow since institutions helped to increase the rate of adoption faster because people who are doubting bitcoin will be convinced to invest and have confidence in bitcoin.
Institutional adoption by big pocket investors has a tight influence on the Bitcoin market right now, that a single coin movement from one wallet to another may just trigger liquidity in the market and affect the price.
For those who see Bitcoin as a currency or as an asset, understand that Bitcoin is efficient in its delivery, although my fear is that Bitcoin being a decentralized currency is gradually becoming more of a centralized currency and asset than it used to be in times past.
Bitcoin would survive without institutional adoption but would have to struggle to get to an ATH from where it is today.
