How Did You First Learn About Bitcoin?

I first learned about bitcoin from a guy who, at the time, seemed strange to me. He looked like a teenager who had spent too much time playing computer games, so I didn’t take him seriously, unfortunately. His appearance convinced me that someone who seemed that immature was unlikely to give any worthwhile advice.I have no idea where he is now. I hope he’s somewhere in a nice house in a warm place, drinking cocktails.

Did he has some BTCs going around, or he only told you about it and that was it?

Bitcoin is an asset that is widely known in the universe but most people have no knowledge about bitcoin.Hearing about a thing is quite different from having knowledge about the thing,I would say that years back I was only hearing about the asset not until I joined this forum then I was able to learn about bitcoin.Though for most persons they learned about bitcoin through the hard way,for instance they started their crypto journey with Ponzi schemes and later on they realized the real value of investing in bitcoin.For those individuals that want to learn about bitcoin I highly recommend this forum to be the best platform to acquire knowledge about bitcoin.

For me, I learnt about bitcoin through a friend, not a close friend though, infact, me and the person have never meet face to face, he was simply an admin to a telegram group where his job was to introduce the latest paying ponzing scheme to us and we will all register under him as his referrals..
After one popular ponzi scheme stopped paying, we all lost money including himself, searching for a way forward, he hold us there was a new crypto project that we all will try as much as possible to invest in even if its $10, that he has the assurance the project will do well, then non of us in the group knew what crypto was, so for us to invest, we have to send him money in our local currency that was equivalent to $10 or more then he will convert it himself and invest for us, I sent him mine and he invested for me..

Long story short, he introduced all those who invest to this forum since the project has their Announcement Thread here as a way for us to follow up on what is happening with the project we invested in, unfortunately the project later turned into a scam but then, I've been reading alot of people on this forum talking about bitcoin, then I started Google searching what bitcoin was, this was how I came to the knowledge of bitcoin, this was in 2016 by the way.

People normally become aware of Bitcoin through a friend, social media, or other means. However, I don't think there is anyone who truly learns about Bitcoin from someone else. Yes, people can introduce Bitcoin to you or explain the basics, but this doesn't mean one knows Bitcoin. To really understand Bitcoin, you just have to do it yourself.

If you want someone to teach you about Bitcoin, and that person is not careful, you may be taken advantage of. This is why it is the responsibility of everyone to learn about Bitcoin themselves, because if you don't understand it, it is impossible to handle it well.

When I was in High School there was an hipe in the media about Bitcoin. At that time, I think Bitcoin is a kind of money that is in your control, you don't have to pay tax, and there will be a record with whoom you have transacted with.

   
Bitcoin isn’t really money without tax whether you pay tax or not depends on your country regulations not on Bitcoin itself. In many places, profits from buying and selling bitcoin are taxable. The protocol doesn’t magically remove legal obligations.
Also while bitcoin gives you control over your own funds it’s not anonymous in the way many early articles suggested, Transactions are recorded publicly on the blockchain, Addresses are pseudonymous, but with enough analysis they can sometimes be linked to real identities.

I used to watch a lot of news, articles and videos about Bitcoin. But when I first saw these videos or news, I was not very curious. When various news about Bitcoin started coming in front of me frequently and various information about Bitcoin was used with many interesting titles and after seeing such news, I felt that I needed to know a little about Bitcoin. I myself used to do some research and one of my elder brother knew about Bitcoin and I also asked him a lot of questions and that is how my journey with Bitcoin started.

I first learned about cryptocurrency from my friends, we had a group of friends, we all used to talk a lot about crypto, along with the plan of trading in crypto, this was the first stage of my life when I first knew about crypto. From then on, more research started, some friends have even left this world, while many are now trading or investing in crypto. Honestly, I don't want to remember the past, I regret that I learned about Bitcoin very late. However, I got the idea about Bitcoin through my friend. Now just knowing from someone else will not be enough, if you don't try to learn on your own. Now why did I become interested in learning more about Bitcoin, I saw that investing in Bitcoin can make a lot of profit and the investment will be under my control, this is what interested me more and at one point I decided to invest. And at one point I was introduced to this forum and was able to gain more knowledge from here.

My first time of seeing bitcoin is online but i learned and got more information about bitcoin through my brother, firstly I did not understand anything about bitcoin and when i saw people talking about it during the time i see it as something that doesn’t concern me and it is for those that have more money or rich people but after knowing about bitcoin i regret not knowing about bitcoin is from the beginning, knowing about bitcoin is very important for many young people most especially young people who are earning a high salary and don’t know how to manage it.

Even if you don’t have what it takes to invest in bitcoin you should know about it because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow, i will keep to appreciate my brother for introducing me to bitcoin because he has help me with something i will never forget, learning about bitcoin is never a waste of time, having a good knowledge about bitcoin is very helpful to us.

It was not from a friend but from an online advertisement.  I stumbled upon a Bitcoin ad when I involve myself to a PTC program that never gave me profit but expenses.

How did you first hear about Bitcoin, and what made you decide to learn more about it?

I was looking for an extra income during those days when I stumbled on a Bitcoin ad, and from there, I was redirected to this forum and saw the potential of earning through airdrop and campaigns.  At first, I was hesitant and was not that active, it took me some months before I actively participated in the forum activities.

Back in 2017, I was looking for ways to make money online. One article from a website I often visited talked about Bitcoin, but at first I underestimated it. Later, I discovered some cryptocurrencies that could be earned by solving captchas, and that’s when I encountered Bitcoin again. Like made mentioned, there are different means one is being attracted to acknowledge Bitcoin which is basically of speculations either through online or offline.

What could also ignite an enthusiast is based on their interests. Some are interested to learn about it and become part of the community users either in the technical sectors (Mining) or beneficiary in the marketing sector (Trading/Investing).

Some also devotes mere interest to just understand what the technology really is due to the fact it is Decentralized and digitized due to doubts they have over the inventory being trust worthy and when they fails to understand it true values, they begin to criticize it unjustly.

Honestly this forum opened my eyes I was completely lost whenever I heard about Bitcoin, I see people answering it as a name like Bitcoin lord, some put it as an afix and prefix to their names this got the extend that even those close to me was involved in this kind of nickname little do I know that there is more to it, until then my whole journey began when I joined this forum, of course alot have been learnt as well as practices and still counting, indeed this forum is one of the best place to learn about Bitcoin not just Bitcoin but every other things that revolves around it.

Honestly it was all around the same time because while years may change, it is always the price going up that makes it famous. I have known it for over 10 years now, but it was once again a bull year where it went above 100 dollars for the first time, but many people had the same, first time it was over 1k, first time it was over 10k, like people joined whenever the price went up and this is why we should not be really seeing this as something that would be shocking since it gets more publicity when the price goes up.

Moreover, I feel like that ATHs are working in a way to attract new people and then by end of bear trend, same people get opportunity to own bitcoin at relatively cheaper prices. I mean, 4 year cycle of bitcoin is happening for some year and I guess that we should stop complaining about 80-85% downfall in bear market because that also happens for a reason.
