This is a very interesting study and its findings: Anthropic has published the results ( https://www.anthropic.com/features/81k-interviews) of a large-scale survey of over 80,000 AI users from 159 countries, conducted via the AI-powered built-in interviewer Claude. Anthropic’s main conclusion is not a “for or against” polarization, but rather that users are already evaluating AI through the lens of their specific tasks, simultaneously reaping the benefits of Claude and independently managing risks. Are you a mainstream media NPC or what the fuck are you quoting this for? Tobacco seller publishes study that tobacco is the most beneficial thing that you could consume, go ahead and consume it idiot. Anthropic's whole existence relies on "AI" being a thing, of course they will publish things that sound positive about it. They will not mention how the current versions of AI still have the most basic problems from the earliest days, and you can get even the most advanced model stuck in loops providing stupid advice that does not make sense -- because the models do not have any cognition at all, they are just dumb prediction machines. Snake oil seller publishes the most advanced study that proves that snake oil is existentially vital for survival. No problem! Let’s take the right approach: we consider Anthropic to be a biased party promoting its product while concealing the real harm it causes. As someone who is well-versed in this field and has strong arguments, could you provide research, arguments, and facts here that show that Anthropic is “stretching the truth a bit,” and that AI actually poses harm and problems to humanity? I’m really looking forward to hearing from you!

Ai has a lot of benefits but people only look at the negative sides of it. I don't think the word is "lazy" Ai has made a lot of things easier, people don't have to stress themselves anymore to do certain tasks because Ai can easily do it and in my opinion that's not lazy at all that's just adapting to technological advancements. Programmers don't go through the stress of writing codes anymore to build a software because they can simply make use of AI. People now use Ai to create videos they post on social media to make money.
Used wisely, AI can prove to be highly-beneficial to the human race. The problem is the most people are "conformists", wanting everything in their hands with minimal effort possible. In other words, they want to take the easy or most convenient route for them. And what better way than letting AI do all of the work for them? This is so much better than just letting AI do certain things, while people do the rest. Even youngsters don't want to study or learn how to do things on their own these days, as they've become too "comfortable" with AI. The future will be one where the vast majority of the people will be doing absolutely nothing. They will just sit back and relax, while money keeps "flowing" in their bank accounts. If (and only IF) Elon Musk's vision of a "Universal High Income" or "Universal Basic Income" becomes a reality. Governments can put AI under their control or simply let it turn "rogue". It's their choice. We'll see what happens in the long run.

I think AI will take longer than people think to really have a massive effect on society. OpenAI is barely staying alive and promising 17.5% returns on capital in order to entice new investment. Doesn’t sound like a healthy market to me… That’s worse than the 11.5% Strategy is paying STRC investors.

I’m really looking forward to hearing from you! Read the previous posts in this thread before rushing to post a reply to bump up your post count. A small study at MIT was already posted by another user a couple pages back. This is fresh data, and more to come. Furthermore, you can use any studies from the past that are about the reliance on "digital tools" and their impact on the brains. Adults are terribly impacted, children are even more so. Most of the children that you know are 50+% or more dumber (unskilled) than the children of a generation or two ago, but keep with your delusions and reject reality. Don't forget to give poor Anthropic some money instead. Used wisely, AI can prove to be highly-beneficial to the human race.
When has the human race used things that are dangerous wisely? Do tell me? If the answer is never, then why the fuck would you write a post with an utopian assumption that was never true at all. I think AI will take longer than people think to really have a massive effect on society. OpenAI is barely staying alive and promising 17.5% returns on capital in order to entice new investment. I didn't know that fact, and it seems that their Sora project has been cancelled too and many investors backed out. Perhaps we are in for a repeat of the 1920s crisis, with this time the AI companies being the main trigger? There is some usefulness there, but probably around 90% of the claimed gains and usefulness are marketing bullshit. Imagine this. We declare we have developed the best and most useful calculator in the world. It can calculate everything that you can imagine. There is just one tiny detail. You have to double check all its work, including whether it will calculate 2+2 correctly at any given time. How useful is this calculator? If I have to babysit a tool, it is a pretty shitty tool.

I’ve said many times—AI is harmful if it REPLACES our work, so it should only be used as a TOOL to assist us. Like a computer, for example. In the example you gave, the experiment was essentially about how a person would do the work themselves and how AI would do the work for them. P.S. I understand that you aren’t just padding your post count, but everyone else is writing posts specifically for that reason? It’s ridiculous to read.

AI has brought a lot of solutions to the educated and non-educated, it has also brought laziness to our generation. You will see a student who is in university level that is giving a project topic to work on, instead of reading about the topic in different angles, but they rather choose to focus on AI only for the research.
Also, AI has made it easier for them to copy and paste, not knowing if it is the correct answer to the topic. I remember when I went to visit a friend of mine in the hostel, I saw some of the students who have class to attend discussing irrelevant things outside there courses, and one of them said we have an assignment to do, and then the other said forget about it, we will use AI ( mean while the assignment was given inside the texts book). Ai has made them so lazy without looking through their text book for an answers. You can see that to some in our world today, AI has been come a solution to all problems, which Ai is not really an answer to every problem.

It seems like OpenAI is having economic issues. Recently, it shut down its "Sora" video generator model after being launched a few months ago. All due to resources being "utterly-expensive" (unsustainable). I guess the AI hype has gone too far. And companies are now realizing the economic limitations of launching advanced AGI at a large scale. If AI goes down, we would be doing the world a "favor". But it might probably be already too late. Especially when governments are heavily-invested in this. Ultimately, people will let AI take care of their daily life as they prioritize convenience over anything else. Expect a deterioration in human knowledge and an increase in "sluggishness" over the long-term. We've been warned.

You're absolutely right. AI can make people lazy and at the same time it can make them more creative. Both are possible depending on how we use AI. If they use AI as a brain replacement rather than as a tool it might make you stupid. But if they use it wisely AI can actually make us more creative and productive. AI can handle light tasks allowing them to focus on big ideas and even generate more ideas faster. So, if you have to be like an AI it's like a super smart assistant that can make them more productive and creative while still being in control. So the point is, AI won't automatically make humans stupid or more creative. But it all depends on the individual using AI. When they are disciplined and curious they will become even more powerful. Conversely, if they are lazy and unwilling to adapt they will become even more stupid and lazy. Yes, the government role is also necessary especially in creating regulations to prevent the use of AI for crimes or propaganda that can harm many people.

Academia is discouraging use of AI tools for doing assignments because by using AI tools students are not doing the necessary efforts required to learn a particular topic. There are also tools developed that can help teachers in detecting an assignment that is done using AI tools. It is also responsibility of teachers these days to educate students that wrong use of AI tools can destroy their career and there are things which students have to do using there mind. Wrong use of AI by students can severely effect there ability to learn new technologies.

I think it still has a long way to go before it is completely deflated. OpenAI seems to have lost its early advantage and its valuation appears to be tanking as competitors are focusing on things like aiding the military while OpenAI was working on making generated adult videos (they just cancelled this project). OpenAI was raising money based on a future dream. Nvidia's valuation got out of control, as did Google's and Oracle. IBM even saw a supercomputer crash as that bubble seems to have deflated.

Okay, I’ve read about MIT. But here’s the question: isn’t MIT a biased party? Isn’t this an unbiased assessment? Isn’t this a one-sided evaluation? Where are the criteria for an objective assessment?
They do not stand to gain anything from the direct results of the study, so they are an unbiased party. These are the basics. Just because they set up such a “specific” experiment with students in the article doesn’t mean that AI will ALWAYS produce that result. I’ve said many times—AI is harmful if it REPLACES our work, so it should only be used as a TOOL to assist us. Like a computer, for example.
The computer has made many people dumber too, it is not any different from the calculator. They do not even know how to do basic things anymore. You are in denial for something that has been proven through countless studies. Work enhancement comes with a trade off risk and that is even if you do it right, most people do it completely wrong. If they could, they would let "AI agents" do every single task for them and somehow people like you would pretend that this does not make people dumber. P.S. I understand that you aren’t just padding your post count, but everyone else is writing posts specifically for that reason? It’s ridiculous to read.
I am pretty sure that most users are, as they are full of shit and writing completely generic content. It seems like OpenAI is having economic issues. Recently, it shut down its "Sora" video generator model after being launched a few months ago. All due to resources being "utterly-expensive" (unsustainable). I guess the AI hype has gone too far. Don't write useless and generic shitposts here, I literally wrote this a few posts above you and here you are writing whatever just to increase your post count. You're absolutely right. AI can make people lazy and at the same time it can make them more creative.
Wrong. There is no scientific proof that AI can enhance the creativity of a person, if you produce new content with AI that does not make you more creative -- the AI is doing the work for you. Don't get stuck with these delusions, it is extreme hopium of the lazy and useless that believe that AI will somehow enhance their abilities for "free" meaning with low effort. This is not true, and you are still going to be limited by your natural aptitude. AI can handle light tasks allowing them to focus on big ideas and even generate more ideas faster. So, if you have to be like an AI it's like a super smart assistant that can make them more productive and creative while still being in control.
It makes mistakes even with the most basic things, so this is an incorrect claim by people who have never really used this effectively or in any place where it matters. All work has to be checked, including the most basic calculations such as how much is 1 plus 1 equal to.

Anyone that is lazy is lazy, I believe Ai did not come into existence to make anyone lazy but to assist humans in making work easier. As there is increase in technological advancements, it is also very vital human beings also try to grow and advance too, learn new skills and acquire knowledge so as to be able to thrive with the improved technologies.

I am pretty sure that most users are, as they are full of shit and writing completely generic content. 1. I disagree! This is how they draw attention to themselves, portray themselves as the “discoverers of evil AI,” and attract students, funding, and investments. That’s called a windfall! 2. I’ll let you in on a secret. Get ready to hear this. You could say that all progress is a result of human laziness. Every invention, to some extent, simplifies people’s lives. And that means it makes them weaker and dumber. But you can avoid this! It’s simple—instead of an apartment, live in a cave; instead of a supermarket, hunt game with a spear; no clothes, no medicine, no bitcointalk or cryptocurrencies! Save yourself from the degradation of civilization 3. This is your personal assessment-and a subjective one at that

At the early stage of technology people said that technology was making people lose their jobs and also make people lazy but technology has stayed for years and people are making good use of it, it help for mass production. Without technology we won't have reach the kind of advancement and development we have today in our society.
Same with AI, AI is here to help human to work more faster, it reduces stress and quick than human thinking, if you can't use AI to your advantage then you're lazy. AI is here to stay, if you can use it very well it will be helpful than the negative comment people are saying.

I guess that is one of the downside of new technology which is AI i know that AI has made our lives easier and more convenient just 1 prompt away you can get the answers you want and with the rising of text to images and videos we can do endless things with this. and because it is a lot easier know it also slowly makes us lazy because we dont need to think hard enough and spent more time to complete a task. we should also practice our critical thinking and problem solving skills before AI do the work.

Things that are innovations in technology are only to help us to simplify existing work including AI where this is always used as an excuse to make it easier for us to do anything but when talking about laziness, although potentially this is possible to happen, I think it depends on the person who uses it too. We can be lazy because of anything not only focusing on AI because from the beginning we were already lazy so that the existence of AI is actually only a strong reason for us to be lazier, but when technology like this is used by those who really make AI a focus for self-development I think the condition of laziness will not occur because laziness does not come from technology but from ourselves.
