Bitcoin development has always prioritized security and decentralization over speed. But as competition increases from other chains, are we becoming too conservative? Are current technical debates (covenants, mempool policy, Lightning UX, mining pool dominance) signs of healthy governance or friction slowing innovation?

FYI, someone made similar thread just a month ago on Is Bitcoin ossifying due to excessive caution?.

But as competition increases from other chains, are we becoming too conservative?

Many of the other chain are less decentralized or used by less people, where there's less consequences if the protocol have bug. So they can afford to be less conservative compared with Bitcoin.
